1. We were just in Dominica mid Sept on a Princess cruise. We did an excurision through the ship to Champaigne Reef. The reef was really wonderful. That said, the entrance area to the reef from shore is basically rock. Not boulders but, large rocks, no beach area, no facilities. Getting there via the water on a private or ship excursion would be your best bet.

cruz4two - can I ask you a question about the tour you did? Was the tour done on a catamaran and if so, how did you enter the water? Were there steps from the boat lowered into the water? Was it mandatory to wear the snorkel vest?

We have this excursion booked for our April visit. I'm looking forward to it.

  2.
Has anyone toured Fort Lauderdale on the water taxi? Is this a nice way to see Ft. Lauderdale and find some funs spots to hop off at?
Yes and yes!! The homes along the waterway are gorgeous. We only hopped on and off once and that was to go to the mall. Once back on, we stayed for the entire tour. It was great.
  3. Here is what Ronnie wrote back to us in reference to what type of equipment we should bring from our collection of lenses and camera bodies.

A focal length range of 18-200 would be adequate for this tour. We

Hope this helps you as it did us. From what I have learned it is a most educational tour from a photography and cultural viewpoint.

    Thank you very much.

  4. KSCPA' date=' Can you tell me the name of the cookbook? I am regretting not buying one while on the ship. They have them on Amazon but need to know the name and version. Thanks.

We received our copy when we attended the Chef's Table. The book, I believe, is called Courses. I'm not sure what version I have though. We received ours in October 2009.

  5. I sent an email to Ronnie the other day asking what specific equipment we should bring along for that day (we tend to bring all our gear on a cruise) and am waiting for his response.

Would you mind posting his response as I would be interested. I'm hoping to be able to sign up for this excursion when I sail their next April.

    Thx

  6. There is a CVS at Beach Place, just under a mile walk. Bahia Cabana is probably the closest restaurant. 3030 at Marriott Harbor Beach is great if you want critically acclaimed upscale dining and Coconuts is perfect if you want waterfont casual dining. Both are within walking distance.

Thank you. We stayed at the Westin Beach Resort last October and walked from that CVS to our hotel. I know we are in the opposite direction and just wasn't sure if there was one closer. I'll check out Coconuts too. We ate at Casablanca Cafe last time and enjoyed our meal out on the patio overlooking the water.

  7. We will be staying at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel in April. I've been trying to see if there is a CVS/Walgreens/Grocery store located within walking distance of this hotel. We will be arriving a couple of days before the cruise so we'd like to be able to p/u a case or two of soda.

We're also looking for restaurant recommendations. I see that Bahia Cabana is close by, are there any other restaurants within walking distance?
