  1. ScottBee can correct me but I don't think there is a direct bus from Canada Place to your hotel - I believe you will need to either walk to Pender and catch the #22 or take the Skytrain from Waterfront station - get off at Burrard station and then transfer to #22 bus.

If the weather is bad for less than $10.00 a taxi should get you to the hotel.

    Cheers

    Dennis

There are no transit buses that go right in front of Canada Place. You will need to walk a couple of blocks to catch a bus or take the skytrain (either to Pender Street or Cordova/Granville). The Hyatt is right across the street from the Burrard Skytrain Station so if you opt for skytrain, there is no need to transfer to the #22 bus as Urban trekker noted above. Hyatt is in a great location and they've recently updated it. You got it for a good price.

  2. Okay, I was gonna try to blame this one on my wife but I'll own up to it..:o

I'm addicted to Coffee Crisps. There, I said it.

Is there anywhere close to Canada Place, or between the Westin Bayshore and Coast restaurant on Alberni St. that I can buy them by the box?

We're eating dinner at the Coast restaurant and will be walking back to the Westin so if there is anyplace not too far out of the way I'll be very happy.. :D

There used to be a 7-11 at the corner of Bute and Alberni. I'm not sure whether it is still there or not. If not, there is a Dollartree below this corner. The entrance is off of Bute between Robson and Alberni. They will have the coffee crisps (not sure if you could buy a box from them or not). It's just down the street from the Coast restaurant. It's a nice restaurant... enjoy!

  3. Thank you for answering my questions. So, which is the easiest: 1) making a line transfer and riding over to Burrard station or 2) getting off at Vancouver City Center and walking to hotel?

    Thanks

Walking is probably the easiest. However, if it is raining and you don't feel like walking in the rain with your luggage, stay on the train and transfer at waterfront station to the other line (all indoors).

Once at waterfront, don't take the escalator or elevator that are right at the platform. Walk the long hallway and up the escalators at that end. Once at street level (still indoors) to your left will be the entrance to the Seabus and Skytrain. Take the escalator down to the platform and board the train. Next stop is Burrard Station.

  4. Would it be just as easy to get off at Vancouver City Center or Waterfront and just walk to the hotel?

I would get off at Vancouver City Center, not Waterfront, if you plan to walk. Take the two escalators up to the street level then turn left. You'll walk three blocks (level) west along Georgia Street and you'll come to the intersection of Burrard and Georgia where the Hyatt is. You can see the RBC building from Granville and Georgia where you get off the train. The Hyatt is right next door.

  5. I need a little help with the last piece of our cruise. We will be arriving in Vancouver on the Miracle next month. We have reservations at the Accent Inn Airport location and flying out the next morning. Does anyone know anything good or bad about this hotel ? They say they have a free shuttle to the airport. Since we are arriving by ship, I need to figure out the best and most economical way to get to the hotel from the cruise port. I guess the worst case is make our way to the airport and then call them to pick us up there. Any suggestions and approx what is the shuttle/taxi cost from the cruise port to the airport ? Thanks.

If you can manage your luggage for a couple of blocks, I would recommend taking the Canada Line to the airport. The ride is about 25 minutes and takes you right to the terminal. The taxi from Canada Place to the hotel and/or airport would run about $35 give or take.

  6. We used GoLink from our Hotel in Times Square to Newark. We had a really nice driver and a nice/clean suburban. Our experience with Dial7 was not very good. We had reservations to pick us up at the pier in Brooklyn and the driver never showed despite being told by dispatch that he was there.

  7. If staying at the Pan Pacific, which station do you go to in order to get to the airport? We would be walking with one piece of wheeled luggage plus two small rolling carry-on bags (that fit onto each other and roll as one). It would be on a Saturday, if that matters.

Putterdude has provided good information. When you get to the platform, make sure you catch the YVR train as every other train that leaves the station heads into central Richmond. On a Saturday, the train should be relatively quiet.

  8. MIght one politely inquire why anyone mistrusts the purity and taste of Princess' onboard water, which flows freely and for free? Or for that matter - and given numerous studies - trusts the purity of bottled water, much of which is simply repurposed tap water, plenty of which contains nasty contaminents? Why does anyone schlep water onboard, instead of doing your wallet and your environment a favor and carrying a refillable stainless steel water bottle?

    I'm serious: why?

I have a sensitivity to salt. When I have had the water from the ships, I have swelling problems. When I bring my own water, the swelling problems aren't evident. For me, it's a comfort thing. If I could drink the water from the ship without any problems I would. Then I wouldn't have to schlepp my own.

  9. Am I wrong in thinking its available on board?

Not wrong at all. It is available on board. I do wish Princess had a drink package like Celebrity. They have a package that includes soda and bottled water. It was great because I didn't have to bring my own but Princess doesn't. Oh well. Different lines have different packages.

  10. Yes you can bring your own bottled water onboard (I do all the time). Mine is packed into a carry-on bag which I bring aboard myself. I take at least a litre of water per day of the cruise. I drink alot of water. by bringing it in a carry-on bag, I have an empty bag to fill with shopping or whatever for the trip home.

  11. I have a car reserved for the day in Charlottetown with Budget. Looks like their place is about a 1/2 mile walk from the port. Anyone have experience with Budget rental at PEI? Might they pick up at the ship or do I have to hike the half mile?

I phoned Budget this morning to confirm my upcoming reservation. I asked about shuttle service from the pier to the office. The person I spoke with said that they have a shuttle that runs in the morning. There is no need to call. A shuttle will be at the pier close to your reservation time. Hope this helps.

  12. Flying in to YVR on the 22nd. Taking the skytrain to the Waterfront station. As I come out of the station, will there be taxis or will I have to roll my luggage to the Pan Pacific? Thanks.

It's a short 5 min walk and there won't be taxis waiting. Do follow the exit for Granville Street (the escalator not the long tunnel).

  13. If I may appolgise first not reading up on all the posts so far. But my question is, we are doing a Cruise come September and staying the night before at the Airport Hotel, Fairmont. Is it possible to go by Taxi to the City, Distance wise is it to far. What sights would be a must to see, a Drink and Bite to eat, where do I instruct the Taxi to drop me off and are Taxis easy to Hail for the return.

    Thank You Diane

The Fairmont Airport Hotel is right at the airport. For convenience you can't be any closer to the airport.

Yes, it's very possible to head to downtown Vancouver by taxi as there will be a long line waiting. But if you are wanting to take a cab downtown to see some sites, I wouldn't recommend staying at that hotel but rather getting a room at one of the downtown hotels. As for distance, depending on time, can be a 30 to 45 minute ride costing around $35 to $40.

If you are just wanting to see some downtown sites and still stay at the Fairmont Airport, then you can easily hop on the Canada Line. It is a 25 minute ride to the final stop. It's hard to say what is a 'must-see' since I'm not sure what you like to do and Vancouver has alot to offer.
