  1. Look I get it. On our last cruise to Aruba out of ft lauderdale or Miami I don't remember but it was terrible. Nobody knew where to go or what line to be in. And to make it worse, 3-4 different royal employees came out and gave 5-6 different set of instructions. We were waiting in line and yet others just walked up and got in an they were not suite or key. After 30 minutes others from our line just walked in. Other ports have been run better. We still just try and follow the rules. Which includes trying to get the early boarding, and then arrive at that time. I can't effect rcl as well as the crowd.
  2. Thanks for the advice. To each his/her own. I like to follow the rules and I like to be prepared. Ship time is what I thought. Royals app/online systems are always wonky. I will schedule accordingly. Ty
  3. This is what I am asking about. So the questions are. Anyone have 1 in the room? Anyone get 1 to use upon request? Or did they have to buy it?
  4. This is my first west coast cruise. I normally set my calendar for the day before at or before midnight to check in and get the early slot. Watching a suggestion video i heard checkin was midnight in the time zone of the host city. Does that mean it's 3am eastern? It's a Seattle cruise.
  5. Or is it balcony or suit or upon request? The blankets for sale in the precruise section including birthday stuff and chocolate cover strawberries. It's like 39$. I remember seeing some people report 1 was in the room when they arrived and others said they had to purchase. We have 10 people going in may on ovation but some are inside rooms and some balconies.
  6. Yes ty all. I will email in the hopes that it works and verify as soon as I board. My family is familar with my board go places routine. I usually do whatever shows ( before they started allowing the app and even the app at the port) and food reservation. I also try to go to the spa and get my name in the raffle. We won once.
  7. 2 questions, first are tables of 10 possible and also how difficult are they to get? It wouldn't ruin my life if you all told me 8 was the max. I know it would make my wife happier.
  8. ty all, yes we are gty, so not across the hall, unless we get lucky. i will wait until onboard to discuss with the guest services. ty all
  9. We are a family of 4. We have usually booked 1 room and crammed ourselves in. Honestly wasn't an issue, even when we got COVID last oct. But we have decided for our upcoming Alaskan cruise, to get an inside room for my son (19) and daughter (12). And a balcony for the 2 people paying for the trip. My son will actually almost be 21 for the trip. Rcl limits the age to 21 for the primary person, so for the booking we put the boys in the 1 room and the girls in the other ( I secretly stuck my wife and daughter in the side......hehehe). So my question is if it's possible to go to guest services on board and get them to issue room keys for the correct orientation? I know that we can just switch door keys or wow bands, but then boarding and purchases and such will be off. I know if we wanted to rearrange things we could spring for 2 balcony's or 2 other similar rooms and maybe even connecting rooms, but we are to cheap to pay more for them. And besides I am kind of hoping our gty's ( like I said cheap.....) Would put us on as far away rooms as possible. I am jk, I honestly was fine with them in the room. Thanks in advance for the info.
  10. I have booked rooms that they picked many times. Mostly the room selection is overrated. When needed and when I could afford, or if cheap enough or from the time I booked to the time I cruised I have upgraded. The price goes up and down. when down I get credit or use it to get a better room. I have many times gotten upgraded rooms. Its not always what you think. Yes its happened that you go from inside to outside view, but more often you go from 1 category to another within a class. Its not as simple as inside out balcony or suite. Each category has many levels that the cruise company, or many here online, view as better or worse. However, if you have cruised and decide you wanted something specific for personal reasons or hate something for practical reasons, then letting them pick a room will result in a gamble not worth taking. If you view the room as a means to cruise, and don't care the result by all means. I would not book an inside guarantee unless you are prepared to get the worst room. Then if you get something better, bonus. a little vacation victory.
  11. Well ty first to RCL for approving my FCC extension. I was last on a RCL in Oct of 22. It was suppose to be a super fun trip to Aruba, Curacao and Labadee. Unfortunately I got covid ( first time) within the first 36 hours aboard the Allure. My wife and son a few days later. We were very nicely accommodated, but not the vacation we hoped for. We got a portion of the cruise credited. This is my first fcc and because I am a big idiot, didn't realize it had a 12 month expiration date to be used and sail before exp. We had lousily planned on a 2024 Alaska cruise and made plans to use the credit. Today when I went to look up and use the credit, I noticed the to soon exp date and quickly filled my shorts. I was not sure I would be able to swing a cruise by November. So while I was on the phone i was researching fcc and even further filled my shorts when I remembered the CWC ended a few days before my cruise therefore, possibly, ending my chances. Well as I waited on hold, Jade RCL rep, worked on reaching out to supervisors and the fcc department and their supervisors and in the end extended the credit to my 24 Ovation ots trip. I wish I could have used the fcc to cover the deposit but not the end of the world. I pay a bit more now instead of later. So thanks Jade and RCL crews, and also again ty to you all ( helping me understand i was able to get the fcc in the first place and then about the CWC extension (even though I didn't book within CWC) and many other things in general) and I am again super excited to go on a bucket list vacation to Alaska.
  12. No we brought some. After we called, they brought 4 for use to test the other 3 and 1 paid back I guess.
  13. Yes my daughter is 12. I am going to hope I get cleared tomorrow and begin my quest. If I am positive I will begin from the phone.
  14. Like I said royal has been great. Or maybe that's a bit broad. Guest services. Room services, stewards and medical staff have been great. We had moved up to ov balcony before sail date thru paying for upgrades from inside gty. This is an off peak cruise so not 100 full. The first 24 hours I stayed in the room even tho they offered to move someone. My wife was a bit overwelmed with the situation and we needed some time to think what was best. The next day we called and a room 3 doors down was open so it's worked out great. So we have been in the 2 rooms.
  15. Haven't really been up to arguing strength. Talking was rough for a bit. Better now. Do I make my stand with the ship or 800 or both?
  16. So if I am reading that correctly, because my cruise departed oct 1 as opposed to the day before 9-30. I am sol?
  17. Actually 3/4 of family has it. My question is if they are still giving any refunds for days in quarantine? Little info out there about it, before yes, but not much on what happens during. I sure am glad some valuable resources were removed. For the record I purchased the cruise in June 22 and have travel insurance purchased thru rcl. I have been in quarantine since day 1( late that night actually) my wife 2 days ago and my son today. If I test positive tomorrow, I am stuck the entire 8 days. I feel better but tested myself this morning and was positive. Royal has been great so far. We will also be unable to use the 3 night dining we had scheduled, I hope we get refunded for that as well.
  18. Any ideas about the game in Europe? The Vikings play a game and it's at an odd time and I am not sure what channel it's broadcast on. 9am or 8. I am wondering if it will be on and where.
  19. For me it was a month after Sept 11. Me and my brother were in Florida to see the Islanders play the Panthers. We were turned around in Miami and pulled down a side road to look up where we needed to go. Well we happen to pull into an entrance to the oil store. We had 6 military guys point M16's at us. I jammed my thumb banging it into the roof, when I raised my hands so fast. The funny thing was, as they quickly realized we weren't there to blow up the oil, the lead guy almost immediately dropped his gun down and walked up and leaned on the car. He went from hands up to, to Miami tour guide. Complete with details of his favorite places to eat. All the while, the other 5 guys took turns pointing the guns at me and my brother. I am surprised I hit the brake. In that situation I could easily mashed the pedal or more likely took my foot off and rolled.
  20. Ty to all those that pointed out what I already said, leaving it home would negate the issue I must have missed my own comment stating that. I won't let that happen everytime. So why do we carry anything onboard? Why not just show up naked with no luggage. I can just buy stuff at the gift shop. Ty to those that did leave input. I am off the the threads that discuss alcohol so I can talk down to those people because it's completely useless and a waste of money and should just leave it at home so you don't get taken to the special room.
  21. So I have had problems before. Even when I wasn't flying. I usually carry a multi tool. The rule was, at 1 point as long as the blade was less then 2 or 3 inches. Then it was not clearly defined and I got 1 taken away before boarding. Being leo saved me because the security agent kept it for me and gave it back when we got back. I then stopped taking them. I carry a few kinds, but I am down to just 1 i still carry. It's the Leatherman micra. It's a tiny thing and I mainly use the scissors. It has a small blade on it but that can be removed. I am not sure if I am checking a bag, so it seems TSA is ok with it (there is agent disgression). But what about the port? I know the easy answer is not to take it. I can put it in 1 of my family bags, which will get checked. But I don't want to loose it at the port. I know the risk is even if you all say it's fine and I travel with x, but I would still like to hear from others. Biker19 thanks for pointing out how stupid I am and much better at life you are.
  22. The first 1 we got was my daughter, submitted a few days later but received first, has the plastic card. The 3 others, all look old style.
  23. We are all first timers. We sent 3 in on 8-5, paid for expedited considering we are leaving 9-30. The got them showing 8-8 my daughter we sent in on 8-8 they got it 8-10. Hers came on the mail today. Ours will be here tomorrow. I figured renewing would be faster. I guess if they are alleviating renewals from the process of sending in applications by allowing people to renew online. All is better for it. I will have to agree. This being out first, and I am sure I have held others, what a beautiful book. Feels like new money. Very nice.
