  1. See you said bet. Gambling like I said. I agree but it being out of my hands and close, makes me nervous. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think it would get here. The closer we get the more options we have. Meaning I can contact them and further expedite if needed.
  2. we rolled the dice and are cutting it close. we are getting new passports, never had 1 before and paid for the expedited. because of scheduling 3 of us did it 1 day and 1 another. It gives us 8 weeks and 5 days for the 3 and 8 weeks and a day for the 4th. I didnt get really nervous until at the appointment they kept the birth certificates go with the paperwork. Now if something goes wrong we dont even have those. Feels like gamlbling and we arent even in international waters. i keep checking the process and all seems good, but it could come down to the last few days. Panic mode is ready if needed.
  3. But probably y I added the time frame to my comment. Ty for making sure you were clear and to comment on my comment. You are supreme
  4. The bar code trick only works after check in at the 45 day mark. It really depends on the ship, capacity and category balance. And I am sure other factors like maybe rank, type of room and back side stuff royal has. I am booked on a 10-1 cruise in a gty and although I don't have a room yet, others do and some of those booked after me. 1 person on my cruise has 6 rooms all booked at the same time all gty and yesterday 2 of the 6 got assignments. I check a few times a day and will be checking bar code at 45 only to still not be able to board until 10-1. The nerve of rcl. I should be allowed on now.
  5. We had 1 on symphony and u could have left it on to potentially see the ocean, but camera resolution and brightness, you can't see anything. Also leaving the screen on made it warmer in the room. We would turn it on only when wanting an active view. Better then no view.
  6. We were driving, but now flying to the allure on 10-1. We fly into mia on the 30th and leave mia on 10-10. So we have 2 nights at hotels. I know of the train from mia to fll and back. Because we are staying an extra day on either side of the cruise timing isn't an issue, although we do fly into mia at 1015pm (not sure the last train either way). So what is there to be said for staying in either location? Do hotels on either side do shuttles? We don't need fancy. Clean and close to food, although delivery services have changed some of that. Am I missing anything of note?
  7. None of that bothers me. Getting there is the only issue and historically when we fly it's been bubby passes or non rev. So, not even having a seat. In those cases we know which flights are open and again many things can happen. We have never travelled on the day of embarkation. Unless it was Charleston, less then 3 hours. If another port, tampa, fll, mia, port Canaveral that we have used we always stay at a hotel the night before. And if flying we general rule is always the first flight out. Usually the least full. We still may fly there standby and then book that 10am flight. Or if it's open, just buddy pass that 1.
  8. 1012 flight seems to be the best option. If need be, we try for that. I think there is a 10am ish flight that's cheap.
  9. We were planning on driving to the port. My wife is not a fan. So we signed up for an aa Citi card and hopefully will get 75k miles in the next few days. We are 4. Even with the miles it's still complicated and expensive. We could just buy tix. Easier but significantly more expensive. We could fly spirit which seems cheaper, until u need luggage and then realize it's SPIRIT. There is mia to consider as an option, but first or last flights are cheapest. We could also use my in-laws buddy passes and fly nonrev. Or some combination of such. I had read historically of people getting off and jumping on the first flight. Figured I would ask.
  10. Maybe specific to port everglades in my case and I know many will post what times you should book a flight, but I am also curious who has successfully or not, made flights after disembarking?
  11. I had something like this taken from me in either Miami or fort Lauderdale. It was in my carry on.
  12. Remember they are saying to bring a USB multiplug. Not a surge protector. If you can plug more then 1 wall plug into something they will take it. But I now carry a 6 USB a plug extension. Years ago I would carry a small 2 plug actual surger protector, not just a pig tail or splitter, to make sure I didn't blow up my expensive laptop. I must have carried it on 5-6 cruises, but at some point they took it.
  13. I bet the baristas, servers and such hate the coffee cards. No tips. The quicker you punch the cards, the quicker us addicts still buy coffee and now tip.
  14. I like Starbucks as much as I like a gas station coffee that has been cooking on a burner all day. Same result. That's for there regular coffee. I do enjoy there espresso products especially blonde roast. Actually 1 of my favorite coffee drinks anywhere is a venti iced Americano at Starbucks. There regular coffee is still crap. I will also admit I am referring to what you would get if you asked for a reg cup, like light dark or medium roast. I haven't tried there reserve stuff. And this may apply to any coffee, but I find most places make lavazza very weak. I get excited when I see it and disappointed when drinking.
  15. No you are right. But it was to much and 2 often to be just 1. And I get those people were breaking the rules but either way it's like getting a room near the elevator or stairs. And maybe 9 out of 10 cruises don't experience that or maybe my cruise was an iron lung convention. Either way, we won't book a balcony towards the back ( unless boardwalk or like in this case a gty and you get what u get).
  16. I am pretty sure the diamond lounge may be the wonderland restaurant on the symphony. We usually go for lower rooms, so no suites yet, but that wonderland restaurant on the symphony was 1 of the best dinning experiences I have ever had. Not everything was our preferred food, but I was blown away. And some of it I thought was going to be disgusting actually was delicious.
  17. Yes part of the reason for asking the question. I was hoping as things get put back together they get to doing all the stuff. My kids would like the parade. I was also not just looking for me, but figured others could get the info on there ship.
  18. More options are better then no options. I get the limited ocean viewing space and the tubes in the back of the ship as blocking views. The ship is built like an amusement park for a reason and if that's not your style, Forest Gump has some options for you. Lazer tag was done in the ice arena when not being used for well ice stuff. Some royal ships, I think older 1s have had a mysteria dinner theatre in gionvinis I believe, again within a already used space. I don't drink and generally don't see purpose of the robot bartender or the floating bar or any bars for that matter, but I don't expect them to make a ship by my design and needs. On an 8night cruise with my family I prefer lots and lots of options and things to do. Even if I prefer none of them to coffee and a book. At least they all can go have fun and sometimes I go with them.
  19. Wow that worked well. I checked for a cruise in August and saw stuff. Didn't see escape room or Lazer tag but didn't look to hard. Ty
