  1. So historically I have been both lucky and greatful.not to have needed it. I am aware most cruise lines allow for or refund covid issues. I am set to go on the allure in Oct. And for the first time on this cruise we are electing for insurance. Taking the whole family and traveling much farther then we usually do (Aruba and cuarcus) the cruise is 2555 and 206 of that is insurance booked thru royal. They said the name of the company but I am sure u all know who it is, I don't remember. My questions are about the cost and quality of what you get vs outside insurance. I also have only paid the deposit, with full payment coming shortly, can I cancel? I am sure I can research some of this, just figured it was know territory. As always i appreciate the input. Ty
  2. you could leave your phones on and roaming to text, but face the rath of potential charges for all that comes with it. yes if needed you can text just like at home, but without the associated free network ( not free but included in you phone plan) you would have in home area.
  3. btw, booked an inside gambler yesterday and started my daily check of rates and today checked saw inside was down about 75$ total and checked balcony rooms and sure enough they dropped too. Just upgraded from inside to balcony, still a gambler, for only a total of 500 and 51$ of that was the increase in TI. sweet...
  4. my wife liked it the first time, as well as all the other shows. RCL, more specifically allure in 2017 ad symphony 2019, were by far the best we have seen. including 2 ncl, 2 celebrity and 4 carnival. it was nice that symphony and allure were different.
  5. yes, very good......but i was hoping after 5 years maybe something was changed. ty
  6. Also I know wave season is jan-marchish, and prices of onboard/pre-ordered items, can go up and down, but is there any other sale times? like maybe the 4th or labor day? I vaguely remember seeing 1 of my royal cruises offer some steep discount on wifi/spa/coffee and just thought it was a drop and i could get it later, but then it went back up never to drop again and i want to say it was labor day sale.
  7. Another few, I am pretty sure its still Mama Mia, but what about all the other shows, any changed since 2017? Water, Ice and or other shows?
  8. OK, This will be my 3rd rcl cruise (allure 2017, symphony 2019 and now allure 2022 again). In 2019, on the symphony, I remember some things, or maybe not, we had bands.... maybe? and the app was mostly useful? But I thought back then it was a ship to ship marketable difference. So, does the allure use the bands for rooms and purchases or is it old school cards? or nfc from a phone? Also, when cruising we/I usually get 1 wifi access, for me mainly, but often share it amoung the 4 of us when needed. In past cruises, older to newer I carried my phone, originally for photos increasingly more so for wifi and more recently the app. I cant rememeber back to 2017 on the allure, I think not, or even the symphony in 2019, if connecting to the wifi ( without internet access) you could message other members of your party. Or if that was on our 2019 new years cruise on carnival or if I just have a mushy brain. If chat works, how well? and is there a charge? We will be going to Labedee, Aruba and curacao. Labedee, has a very nice dock and a quick walk to the private festivities, but what is the docking situation at aruba and curacao? Is it freeport if docked or more like labedee? or tendered? TY in advance.
  9. So I am at the very early stages of research. I have travels to many location on 5 different companies. This will be the first Alaskan. I understand asking which is the best, is kind of like getting opinions on vanilla ice cream. Everyone has an opinion, nobody is right and everyone is wrong. This is a forum... So which is the best....jk. having been on almost 20 cruises, I am aware of the differences in ships (old, new, small, large and so on). I am also aware of what most brands bring to the show. We have loved royal recently because of the oasis ships. Good time family fun. Oddly though, it's mostly because we are not pool/beachy people, so we like having things to do when we aren't reading, relaxing and listening. We loved the concept of a fun filled party that magically dropped you off at new places. So for this cruise I elected to do Alaska, 1 because it will be around my 50th and 2 because it's generally more our speed. We like cooler temps. We want to soak up the hillsides, look out for wildlife and general eat good and hang out. I have always wanted to go to alaska. Mainly more mccandless style but I saw the movie and prefer the titanic. So nothing is set in stone, but so far I am wanting a 1 way in may, maybe southbound, with a cruise tour and I am thinking holland, but just started looking at celebrity and princess. We have cruised with celebrity a few times, and actually we're on the millennium shortly after it dropped, within 6 months. My questions are as such: When do other companies start booking for may of 2024?ncl seems to be the only 1's out that far. I figured 12-18 months, but wasn't sure if they all popped at a specific time of year for those seasons. Are there any known ships being released that will be switching to alaska? Being that I can only see ncl and other cruise companies are either still 22 or barely 23 I didn't know the scuttlebutt. I know covid has pushed stuff back and around. Holland has cruise tours put together with cruises, and maybe other do as well, but is that generally the better practice vs booking 1 then the other? Historically I have sometimes booked excursions with and without going thru the cruise companies. Sometimes saving money and still going along with the others from our boat. My initial thoughts are to keep it simple and add the days onto the trip thru the cruise. Thanks if you got this far and thanks again in advance if you respond.
