  1. This changes my understanding: When we boarded we were give this certificate, name on the top. We asked if we were still eligible for the 20% off as we had taken OLife Beverage and were upgrading to Prestige. (`all along I had believed NO, have to purchase House Select.) ‘We were told yes we get the 20% too. As we had purchased our La Reserve in advance, we asked if that was adjustable. NO - only on purchases after the upgrade. Couple of lessons here.
  2. Just walked down to Riviera Reception and he said that his understanding is that it will be applied to all regardless of signed contract. He added to just come down and they’ll put them at the level you want and it will be adjusted. He added a lot of people set at 0 or any amount in between. Few set at higher.
  3. Or do as I plan - wind it back down to the agreed on rate. The gratuity amount is still in your hands - 0, 16, 18 or more.
  4. Not good pictures but hopefully you get the idea.
  5. Storage. There is a high counter with 4 drawers for storage. Above it is a “medicine cabinet” with shelves behind opaque glass doors. Very necessary and useful IMO.
  6. So much better thank you - now I have 2 days of prestige beverage package to recover
  7. Our hospital account showed up online. We pick up itemized bill anytime. Sandra - $537.30 Rob - $3275.78 Another use for OBC What do you think?
  8. Onboard Riviera, lowest of the low, no status - we received the wonderful cheeseboard. It will become a charcuterie board when we can afford a PH.
  9. We are sticking to our cabin for a couple of days as per doctors orders. The extended balcony allows 2 loungers which is fantastic. Dont be afraid to stray from the norm on room service. We are not big fans of the finely chopped fruit cocktail so for lunch we asked for sliced melon or banana. Both arrived along with two muffins only on the breakfast menu. Amazed by everyone’s eagerness to please. Unsweetened iced tea has been soothing and our room service comes with 2 glasses. i now know why today is a sea day. Blackjack poker and slots tournaments. we received the Oceania cheeseboard for Christmas. Lovely surprise.
  10. Thanks As you know we are onboard for 39 days so trashing a couple of days to get well seemed smart
  11. Tylenol, Buckley, Vicks, antiseptic gargle, Cold FX have all been part of our regimen however I wasn’t feeling any better. Tough it out would have been an option but pneumonia was the worry I think.
  12. Yes Doctor said it was probably because we have weakened immune systems due to being in hiding for 3 years.
  13. This was before they saw us so I figured the greater amount was if I required open heart surgery and a limb transplant. In truth - the way I felt, the cost was the least of my worries and I really wasn’t in a state to make rational decisions. Just wanted to be made whole. 12 hours later it was worth whatever - I will report back when I see the bill.
  14. We made up a CC table at La Reserve - what a wonderful group of interesting and fun people. Blurry picture is Jacques Pepin - true gentleman. Answered questions. I wanted to ask - Jacques is arguably the most popular specialty dining room. Why were you ditched from Vista and replaced with an American fast-food diner? My wife said NO. some other random pics.
  15. Sorry have not been on for various reasons: The Good The bad and the smelly - the first day line 2 (euphemism for sewer) was plugged and flooded our washroom with effluent (euphemism for *****) - others not ours. Crew was very good at low-keying it, two disinfectant washes but every once in awhile there is a lingering whiff to remind us. - wifi is as poor as you have heard - no biggie for us - what was a tickle in my throat developed into bronchitis leaving me exhausted and hacking. Others made sign of the cross as they passed us. Wonderful Odyssey menu was a waste as i left most of the wines. - went down to Medical centre and not just for research purposes, They are wonderful. After signing a myriad of papers promising our house, our first born and our horse they were thorough. X-ray, ECG, blood tests, urine sample, and 3 degrees of Covid testing they determined negative to Covid, but I have , respiratory infection, and placed intravenous antibiotics, plus various pills and elixirs. Feeling better 12 hours later. Hacking almost gone. Very kind and thorough staff. We were warned cost could be $500 to $20000. ‘Kicker is our insurance company insists requires notification before treatment - after 90 minutes on hold I hung up. - St Barts today -swells so high that could not tender. Typical French - keep all the good stuff to themselves. Captains solution ….we will have a sea day. Ummmm - OK . sorry if this is self indulgent but maybe some interest in these things. Having a wonderful time relaxing on our balcony with wonderful room service. ‘Wish you were here.
  16. We will stay on with you just to make sure you learn the ropes! Actually we will be on Riviera until January 31. About 10 of us met in Horizons at 9pm last night just to say hello. The same deal will be on January 4. No formal program but a chance to meet new friends.
  17. ToxM I hope you don’t mind me posting to your thread… I know people are eager for info and pics of the new Riviera. ‘’Today we will be getting things organized in our room, attend the Jacques Pepin presentations and then Odyssey menus tonight at La Reserve. Looking forward to that! I will take some food porn pictures to post.p
  18. Baristas in the morning - a real change from what I remember - you can get full continental breakfast selections including tomatoes, cheese, meats, toast we with pastry items - a wonderful place if you had a few too many at Horizons the night before
  19. 7009 1 European, 2 US and 2 usb over desk, dinner in polo and then down to MDR for dessert soufflé (vanilla) - delicious informal meet and greet in Horizons - met some interesting new friends 10 likes - wow - 3 more drinks before I can go to bed - and miles to go before I sleep ….. you folks chipping in on the bill? Those Hennessy XO are not cheap - oh well a promise is a promise very happy and mellow
  20. Hard to give you perspective here but this is an aft-facing extended balcony. It is the last in the row so it has an unobstructed view aft. Easily enough room for 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table. Why aft facing? I’ll get some argument here but the forward facing, at the rear of the ship can act as a wind funnel. Check the deck plans for deck 7. Don’t tell anyone.
  21. - 40 minutes from luggage drop off to standing on deck - very smooth - and we were the last group called - steerage - carved turkey in terrace - a favourite embarkation day tradition - casino bar open by 12 - decent champagne we thought - our room was to be ready by 3 but called ready by 2:30 - staff is super friendly - refit stateroom is a win IMO - bright bathroom with plenty of storage - lighting is superb, 1 European plug, 1 US plug and 2 USB outlets on each side of bed., walk-in shower is wonderful - u can have your bathtub - room was set up as we requested - distilled water, Diet Pepsi, club soda, etc. - some will complain about the I’ve cream location - right by pool - but cleared congestion for waves and for ice cream —— no ice cream at terrace buffet. - lots of walkers and scooters but staff swooped in to carry plates - still hard to find a sommelier for a drink order at lunch but being persistent paid off i promise to have a drink for every like here before I go to bed tonight
