  1. It doesn’t take much research or imagination to realize that the replacement of plastic bottles of water with Vero water is a smart move for Oceania, travellers and the environment. Those in denial can always pop up to the gym and grab some plastic bottles.
  2. “Bottle Water Cleaner” tablets are available on Amazon. These not only clean but they take away that metallic taste from new metal bottles. We plan to throw a few tablets in our bags for this purpose.
  3. We have eaten in Privee We have never been escorted to Privee - have never heard of this being a practise. ‘We were in a B3 stateroom. ‘Yes we have seen ladies being escorted to a specialty though, at the time, we had no idea what it was about. If you read that thread then you read about the posters wife being stared at by other passengers, you read about them getting window seats because of the butler and you read about them enjoying the idea of duelling butlers. ‘’Personally I am not comfortable with the whole idea of a butler. It’s just not something I have ever been exposed to. From reading the threads carefully as we were considering the idea, there are many others who share my feeling. I would enjoy the extra room of a premium cabin. Back to the thread - I will agree that there is no class distinction on Oceania that cannot be purchased.
  4. If you are in doubt you can find reference in this thread. I follow the other arguments - it isn’t a class thing if you can buy it.
  5. Nah - you are paying for them. Concierge and above cost $. The restaurant example you pay the regular fare and then get the perk. The “thank you for the patronage” is Oceania club perks. No large areas but “executive lounges” (the name says it all). Access to the spa sun deck lounging area. PhD - have you never met those who insist on being transported to the dining areas on the arm of “their” butler? Snobs?… and the people who delight in telling others they have their butler draw their bath….. Of course it is a class system but many of us do the math and decide it is not a purchase we need to make. Of course there are those who require the extra space (amenities) of the premium suites.
  6. I think we have to face the fact that we have been effectively trolled. This poster has never travelled on Oceania yet she feels qualified to speak about things she has never seen or experienced on Oceania - offensive logo T shirts, slobs, over-sized and dirty shirts….It is obvious that she has never read the responses to her several posts. ‘If you look at her posts, she flits from thread to thread, cruise line to cruise line, commenting on dress, smoking policy, washing machines that only afford hot water, emergency procedures, immigration lines. As said above, Carnival might be a better fit.
  7. Of course Oceania has tried to address this and jsn55 wish for these people to stay away -. Penthouse and above suites. Here one can dine with the assistance of a butler, full menus and courses, without having to associate with those in steerage.
  8. I think you’re missing the point. No one is excusing their flaunting of the dress code. However it is your reaction and that you let it upset you that is wrong. “You can’t control the world. You can only control your reaction to the world.”
  9. The untucked shirt is very much the fashion for men’s casual. It is very forgiving covering what some of us have invested a lot of 24’s to build. 🙂
  10. Are you thinking that the walk-in shower will be only the width of the old tub? Very hard to imagine from the picture but my thoughts were there would be a re-purposing of the space in the washroom. What is on that right hand side where the shower was? Has to be more than just space. Regardless, once they are into the floor and ceiling, then anything is possible.
  11. Yes it’s their business model. - fortunate for O that most aren’t on CC.
  12. Yes I have other things to worry about on a cruise like does the captain know where he is going, are we going to hit an iceberg and will there be enough crab legs at Terrace.
  13. As the plumbing must be changed to do away with the tub it will be a complete redo. 2012.
  14. For me - not hard at all For me to do it for someone else - impossible So as it is beyond my control I will not get my tail in a knot, or as the kids say, “You do you”.
  15. …and Oceania never had benches in the showers. However, I think a portable bench (seat) is something that may be available on request or, if it’s an issue, bring one with you. There are solutions.
  16. Something I look forward to is the “Whiskeys of the World” shops on the boarding side of security at Heathrow. They are quite free with the samples, even some single malts well beyond my budget. You could pick up a wonderful duty free bottle for the stateroom, especially with the rates of the pound falling to the US$. I have found lately the distillers have become wise to this and rebrand some of their scotches especially for the duty free stores making it difficult to price comparison. Luckily Whiskeys of the World have websites allowing you to do your homework ahead of time. Bon voyage!
  17. I agree completely. ‘We cruise out of Miami in December and have our WestJet flights for 2 days before the cruise, booked. However we are still open to luggage forwarding thought it seems expensive to us _ $500 for two bags fromToronto to ship. We are also open to driving at the last minute if necessary. ‘These things cause me stress- lol
  18. It will become voluntary. ‘Whether this affects cruises remains to be seen.
  19. Quite true but you have to have final payment before applying for this (i think) regardless we would only fall back to OAir in a situation where we would be happy to take anything
  20. Wouldn’t that be wonderful! …and Les Treize desserts in Jacques …and roast pork, jiaozi, rice and huoshao in Red Ginger Or the local traditions of wherever the ships are.
  21. One more thing about O Air. We leave it active on our booking until final payment. No cost to this and it is sort of an insurance policy as a fall back position.
  22. Firstly my mother is American, father Canadian. Vista - addition of a second American restaurant Embers - open grill and faster meal times while doing away with Jacques.
  23. Yes you are absolutely right. Substitute increased for recent. I was thinking of the “recent” Americanization of their new ship Vista, a fact which caused us to cancel our reservations.
