  1. Even if you were losing far more than that in airfare?
  2. Not the case here. 500 is the maximum. And not all tickets can be modified, especially European ones. That’s why some of us are trying to obtain facts before we book our air
  3. They are "International Representative" for Belgium and Luxembourg for RCCL, Celebrity, and Azamara
  4. Just to answer a few more points: -There are over 500 posts in the thread entitled Japan 2024 cancelled. You'll find a ton of information there -Yes, I am in the EU. I may have better protection than some, but other EU bookings have been cancelled, so I know I'm not immune - The official Celebrity agent for Belgium has said (in writing, several times) that there is no overbooking and that if there was then Celebrity would call for volunteers. I have sent copies of several letters and they are now "making enquiries". Note that this is the official agent for my country - Still because I am in Belgium, I cannot book with Flights by Celebrity. That's just for US, UK, AUS and NZ - I doubt very much that my annual travel insurance would be willing to give me money for Celebrity screwing up. Indeed, why should they? But really, the major gripe is that Celebrity simply will not tell the truth, so we're all in limbo
  5. Really suggest you don't. Celebrity in Asia is a total mess right now and they are not being honest with customers. I am a loyal customer, but really thinking of cancelling all my bookings with them, including my bucket-list Galapagos cruise and never sailing with them again. Several other companies are sailing Asia. I strongly recommend you try one of them instead
  6. Celebrity clearly are not being honest, with thousands of customers over numerous cruises waiting to hear their fate and The rebooking offers and compensation they are offering are insulting and They continue to get their information mixed up in their letters to customers and Their agents have no understanding of the situation (and keep giving conflicting advice/excuses) etc Thank you!
  7. I have just posted this in my roll-call, where at least 4 bookings have been cancelled: Here is a translation of the text I received in French today (25 April). This is from the official Celebrity agent in Belgium (original text below): We have no indication that this departure, or other departures with Celebrity Cruises in Asia have any overbooking problems. For this reason, we cannot answer your question. It would be pure speculation. In the very rare case that the fleet (I think they used the wrong word here in the French) is faced with an overbooking situation, initially volunteers are called upon to postpone their trip, in exchange for compensation. When, how and how much compensation is given is decided and proposed only at the time at which the problem presents itself. I told them I was dumbstruck by their response, given the problems are common knowledge and have been reported in the press. I am at the point where I want to cancel all future bookings with Celebrity (including my dream Galapagos trip) and never travel with them again Nous n’avons aucune indication que ce départ, ou d’autres départs avec Celebrity Cruises en Asie ont des problèmes d’overbooking.
  8. Is the deadline still 1 May, I wonder? If so, it doesn't give the victims much chance to get organised. I'm not sure I could get leave approved that quickly
  9. It’s not over yet. Someone on my sailing (28 March 2024) got their message yesterday (Monday)
  10. We’re starting to think we’d prefer a cancellation too
  11. There are cabins showing as available on my cruise 28 March 2024!!!
  12. Thanks, but that’s only available in the US and a few others countries. Sadly not in Belgium. Refundable fares in Europe cost way more than non-refundable. We simply don’t know what to do. I have asked the agency what protection I have if I do get cancelled
  13. The thing is, I contacted them asking them to check my reservation was OK before reserving my flights and I have a feeling they haven't checked but just sent me a standard reply
  14. Well, I'm furious. The local Celebrity Agent (in Belgium), just fobbed me off with "you shouldn't believe everything you read in internet forums" and "you have a cabin number so you're safe". I guess I won't be using them again
  15. Surely and IT glitch would affect all bookings? They don't have a separate system for each cruise, do they?
  16. Indeed - none of the cabins on decks 2 and 3 have balconies
  17. Are any of those who have been cancelled in the European Union? I was wondering if we have better protection due to the Package Holiday directive and the ship being registered in Malta (just another theory) I have mailed the local agent in Belgium, asking her to check the status of our reservation before we book our plane tickets. We are on the 28 March sailing
  18. I just about had heart failure when I received a mail from Celebrity this morning. It was for another matter altogether, thankfully
  19. We should be booking flights but we don’t dare. Cancellation conditions are very harsh in Europe. But the longer we leave it, the more expensive our flights will be…
  20. That may be the case, but they should be able to get their facts right. It makes you wonder what else they're going to screw up
