  1. We had Lido 9235 & 9239 last year on Valor. Great location, didn't notice any more motion there than anywhere else. No noise issues. I love Lido.

I have those exact two rooms booked on the Glory for April 2017. Is 9239 large enough to accommodate 4? (one is just 2 years old)

  2. Just got off the Glory in 9239 and there was absolutely no noise whatsoever on our cruise (and with 700+ kids that is saying a lot).

You are going to be in a perfect location and will love it!

    Enjoy the cruise!

I will be in that room next April. Do you think the room is big enough to accommodate 4 people? (one of the person will be 2 years old)

I was thinking of relocating because of size concern.

  3. Wow. You guys are really great. I never thought I was going to get so many replies.

Someone mentioned that I should call carnival directly instead of asking here. I asked here specifically because carnival will not give me suggestions from a traveler's point of view as you guys did. I also want to make sure if they tell me one thing I can use the knowledge I gain from your replies to counter it. Once the person I am dealing with gets back from vacation nest week I will call her.

A couple people also mentioned that I should try and get a second job. That I am trying to do right now. the issue is I don't have much time but I should be able to find some time. as I mentioned in my original post, we purchased a house a little over a year ago. We were living in NYC and now we are living in Connecticut. My job is still in NYC as it is hard to find employment in Connecticut even though I have a Bachelor in Business Administration and a Masters in Public Administration. My daily commute to NYC is on average 1.5 hours each way so by I get back to CT after work (sometimes 2 hours travel with traffic), I am drained. I don't mind working on the weekend and on a couple weekdays though so I am searching.

Another point someone mentioned was to take a shorter cruise. That's a great idea. I am not canceling or changing anything yet until at least a month before final payment because situation could change. I just want to be prepared in case it doesn't so I have options.

I am aware of the other expenses. One of my daughter is only 17 months. Will be 2 by the cruise. The other is 12 (13 by time of cruise) and she is very conscious. The due date is 80 days before the cruise so we will be prepared for those.

    Thanks again guys.

  4. Just wanted to say so sorry that you are having to cancel your first cruise. Hopefully you will be able to cruise in the future.

Thanks Scott. Cool pic. It is not cancelled as yet. I am waiting until close to the due date to see where things are before I know if I have to cancel or not. I don't want to cancel early and then I either get a new job, win the lottery, or find some money. lol

  5. If the the cruise was booked using the Early Save rate and cancelled prior to the final payment date, there is a $50 per person fee that is never returned. The balance of any deposit paid is not returned in cash, it is held by Carnival in the form of a future cruise credit which may be used in the two years following cancellation. If not used by then it is lost. If the cancellation occurs after the final payment date then the normal cancellation penalties apply before calculating the amount of the credit.

If the cruise was booked using any other rate, e.g. past guest, military, etc. (and assuming cancellation occurs prior to the final payment date) then there is no cancellation fee and the deposit and any other payment made is returned in cash.

So it seems like I will be in the category of losing at least $200 ($50) each person. The carnival agent I booked with is on vacation so I will speak with her when she gets back.

    Thanks.

  6. If you cancel before the final payment due date, you should be able to get all your money back unless you booked under some weird Carnival fare (like Early Saver) that has another cancellation policy.

Yes, I did book under the early saver because there was a deal where I only had to pay $316.

  7. how did you book, was it early saver?. if it was early saver, you can cancel for a 50 dollar fee. you will either get the money back or it is a credit for a future cruise

I book it with the earlier saver so I only had to pay $316. The total price was about $2,100. Four of us but one inside stateroom. I made $200 payment after that but when I checked on my account it is saying if I should cancel I will lose $316.

  8. Hello All,

I am in a situation here and I need your advice.

My family (wife and 2 daughters) have never been on a cruise before but we always wanted to go on one. My wife and I never even had a honeymoon and we are married 5.5 years now. We were trying to prioritize before we think about those stuff. One priority was to get a house which we did for a year now. The house comes with a lot of expense but it is better than rent.

Anyway, this whole story is to say that I booked a cruise on Carnival Glory months in advance (4/2017) in order to get enough time to make payments so by the due date I can finish paying it off. Things happened which I won't even get into details making it hard for me to put anything towards the payments and with just 4.5 months left I am worried I won't be able to make it. My daughter would kill me because she is so excited. But.... if that's what happens then there is nothing I could really do about it.

I have been researching and some people say they got all their money back if they can't go on a cruise and some say they got cruisecash. Have any of you guys had to cancel a cruise? Did you get actual money back or just credit to use towards future cruise?

I am hoping not to cancel my cruise but if I am unable to pay it off by the deadline I am hoping I will get actual cash back for the amount paid.

  9. I am a single person ... and I love cruising. However, instead of booking "solo" cruises (and paying double anyway) ... I just plan on treating one of my "fun" friends who couldn't afford the cruise fare - I pay the cruise fare for them, and they pay for the airfare, taxes, grats, and onboard expenses. They can usually afford those things if they don't have to ALSO pay the cruise fare ... and they usually get a bargain for a 7 day cruise ... Maybe their out of pocket is $400-$500 TOTAL ... and these cruises are planned a year in advance so they have time to save up the money.

I don't think I would have fun cruising "solo" -- even though I am also outgoing, I like to at least have a guaranteed roll-dawg for the week.

If I were you tho, I would NOT cancel your carnival cruise. It's already booked, just GO. I'm sure you will have a blast and meet someone (or a couple) who would love to go to a specialty restaurant for your birthday... especially if you pick up the tab!

    Happy Birthday and HAVE FUN!

Can I be your friend? lol
