  1. The cruise port and FLL airport are right next to each other. Take a cab or ride-share, it will cost less than the Princess transfer and you'll be treated much better.
  2. Using powers of observation and taking a few Princess cruises led me to the decision to leave my tuxedo at home. Took a suit on one cruise and realized that I was still overdressed. So now I'll take polo shirts and maybe a dress shirt or two for formal nights. I'll throw in a tie since it doesn't weigh much, and may actually use it once or twice. For long cruises, I might throw in a blazer or just a vest. Oh yeah, dress jeans too! 😂
  3. Since the re-opening, it seems that showtimes are now 7:30 and 9:30 and like other ship activities, they are set for 45 minutes. The only deviation was a production show that they had on the Ruby on a cruise last year (I think it was Bravo) where it was only 30 minutes.
  4. Yup, that's what we've always done. The only place that was of concern was Singapore, because Singaporeans like to live by rules. But even there, we just showed up early and boarded early.

  6. That will be the 3rd leg of our b2b2b, it will be our transportation to Vancouver where we'll hop on the Crown for an early season Alaska run.
  7. I don't think Pier 35 is big enough for the Royal, it pretty much has to be Pier 27. You may notice that there is no long a Pier 25.
  8. I've only done it once. Our last cruise was a 5 day cruise; we only took 1 pullman case. When we got off the ship at around 9:30, the street car was hardly crowded. It became more occupied with passengers coming off the ship, but everyone still had a seat. We then took the N Judah to the Cal-Train station, took the train to Santa Clara and then took a VTA bus home. It was all kind of an experiment. It did take about 2.5-3 hours, whereas it would only take about an hour if someone had picked us up. Luggage is allowed on almost all public transit.
  9. I've encountered that on cruises out of other ports as well, seems more prevalent on the lower priced cruises though.
  10. The return address isn't always indicative of the point of origin. Our medallions usually have the Santa Clarita corporate address as the return address. Many of our Amazon packages will have a return address in Las Vegas, even though it came from a local warehouse.
  11. That's where one of the seats with the swinging armrest could be used for. Generally if the impairment is that serious it would be fairly obvious and they probably also have a cane (or walker.) Know the situation well, but so far, I've gotten away without the cane.
  12. We usually select one, but it is generally meaningless. We always get to the port early and they board us as the first group. (ADA)
  13. We tried that. It was two coastal cruises, then a repo cruise to Vancouver and then back to Seattle. i.e. b2b2b2b. We received a call from our TA with Princess on the line about a week or two later telling us that we couldn't take that last segment back to Seattle. They did check to see if there was another ship that they could put us on, but nothing was going south at the beginning of the Alaska season. But we found a 7 day Alaska cruise that we could take out of Vancouver a couple of days later, so we'll take a bus (not a Princess transfer) to Sea-Tac to fly home. (Domestic flights cost a lot less than flights out of Vancouver, and we can get a non-stop flight directly to SJC.

There are cutouts in some rows in the theater intended to accommodate those who are confined to a mobility device, and there some with armrests that swing up to accommodate those who are able to transfer from a mobility device to a theater seat. I don't understand why you feel entitled to take one of those seats away from people with mobility impairments.
  15. I cruise a lot out of San Francisco, it happens on every cruise.that I've been on out of SF. When? Generally after they finish their meal but sometimes in the middle of the afternoon as well. It is a convenient venue, since they have easy access to hot water and tea. I've never seen anyone shutting down a game.
  16. On our last cruise we had the same table for dinner every night, and most days for breakfast and lunch. This was on the Royal. At breakfast on the last day, we jokingly asked the restaurant manager to hold that table for us as we would be back in about 6 weeks. 😂
  17. It's no different other than an occasional ethnic demographic difference. Hogs is hogs and discourteous doesn't differ though in some cultures it may seem appropriate.
  18. We provide an additional token of appreciation to room stewards and wait staff (waiters and junior waiters.) Also occasionally to MDR hosts/hostesses (not head waiters, or managers.) We do not tip wait staff in the buffet (since we already do that when they are in the dining rooms.) On one (and only one) occasion, when we had particularly bad service from most of the crew, I pulled gratuities, (after having tipped those who provided service above and beyond.)
  19. We were on a B2B and never experienced that. But understood since they probably have a lot of Elite in FL (and I think a lot of them think of themselves as 'elite'.)
  20. By ourselves. Since the shutdown, it seems that most of the tables are individual, even for solo travelers. Also, because the Royal currently caters to a demographic that seems to receive different information about Covid and is distrustful of the U.S. CDC, they seem to try to honor those concerns. I don't think it is likely that you will find many shared tables. We used to like those and have met a few people that we have become friends with, or were people that I already knew (SF born and raised) or people that knew people that I grew up with.
  21. We always took a power strip (with surge protector) on all of our cruises. Never knew they weren't allowed. Then on one cruise out of FLL we discovered that we'd forgotten our power strip. Contacted our niece, who was in FLL and gonna meet us on turnaround day and told her to go to Home Depot (or whatever) and buy the cheapest power strip she could find. Sure enough, not surge suppressor and that is the one that we take now.
  22. Royal. It is going to Vancouver for it's PVSA stop before going to their new port in Seattle for the Alaska season. Like most cruise ships, the 3 day trip to Vancouver is to make the repo a revenue generating trip.
  23. Couldn't you just take the F street car to the pier?
  24. I had that same issue! We just went to Concerto and Sergio and his asst. mgr. took care of us. All of a sudden we had "traditional dining" (same table each night, and also for most breakfast and lunch days).
