As a young new cruiser at 30 going on Carnival i had a blast. I had no idea what a cruise was like. All i know was that it was fun..
I then went on rci and was blown away by the upgraded ship. I was so excited for that week. But i found the ship wasnt for me when i was bored at 9:45 pm. I also felt nickel and dimed.
I find, even though i am older and Slowing a bit, i still like like im a young guy at heart. But carnivals ships were tiresome and i was open to rci oasis ahips as a change
And now Carnivals new excel class ships are pulling close to rci when it comes to decor. We booked a week on the new "celebration" and expect an upgraded experience in every way..
.
I can see though that a norwegian alaska cruise is starting to appeal to me these says and im looking forward to that change.

I would bet that $5 or $10 bucks a ride will ultimately be the cost.
If it was free there would be too long a line...
But carnival needs passengers to ride the bolt in order to make money on the thing..
$15 wont do it..unless they figure they are in it for the long haul..

It was just a thought...Is Norfolk really that popular of a port? I am curious.
I can make a case for it..
1 Every ship that ever leaves norfolk is full.
2. GRANTED, Ny and nj have a much bigger population..Saying that , There are plenty of people within a 2 hr radius OF Norfolk. va beach, portmouth, newport news, richmond and eastern nc line is close..people will drive from ohio to get to norfolk..
3. The weather can be decent into late december..

Seriously? You're complaining that people sat and enjoyed their meals? Can you imagine the audacity of someone spending a week on vacation and wanting to enjoy it? Are you the reason that we felt so rushed at every meal? Did you ever think that maybe other people prefer to sit around the table and talk about their day? Catch up with friends and family that were doing other activities? Will you forgive me for waiting to order dessert, until after dinner? Is it a horrible sin that I *gasp* ordered tea with my dessert? Was the five minutes that it took to steep the reason that your cruise was horrible?
Relax..there is a point where you are epected to actually be done with dinner.. 1.5 hrs is plenty of time to relax and get in all the convo..
There are thousands on these ships.

And for whatever reason stick with it for the most part?
For me, I like how Carnival does things.
I tried Rci...wasnt for me.
Id love to see some answers..

Never know, maybe people dont want to pay $15 for 30 seconds.

Thanks for answering I was actually curious, but also see my comment below.Would love that too, wouldnt a year round NYC ship make more sense then Norfolk year round? And perhaps split a Florida ship with Norfolk seasonally.
Why would you think that?

I am fine and dandy with the changes. I have sailed rci once and loved the design and cosmetic touches ot the ship.
The reason I have sailed carnival every other cruise is because I love carnivals concept. Rci for me is boring.
It is great to have a carnival ship possibly Come close to the design of an rci ship but with all the upsides I enjoy on a carnival cruise.

Would you be excited if Carnival did a 180 and went back to "its roots" and did a Joe Farcus inspired design for the Carnival Jubilee?
I think it would be quite interesting and welcome change. Yes it's gaudy and "neon-y" but that's kind of what separated Carnival in the first place from other lines. I do love how the Mardi Gras turned out, but it seems more like a NCL or RCL modern design inside. I think it would be a FUN concept.
What are your thoughts?
They have 20 other ships with his design...no thanks..

There might be some merit in basing a ship in Norfolk year-round given that air travel is becoming more expensive.
That would be nice for us Virginians. I don't really want to go out of Baltimore or Charleston.

That's a great spot..views are great and the location is great..you are near the midship elevators that take you up to ocean plaza on deck 5..
That elevator comes out by the casino..you can cut thru to ocean plaza and guys pig and anchor..
Pro tip...if you want a peaceful breakfast I suggest ocean plaza.

Yes..get a virgin..i do it all rhe time. I love a screwdriver with no vodka...

I believe it's actually 16, with the Splendor in 2008 being the last ship he was involved with. The three Dream Class, three Vista Class and three Excel Class are Farcus free.
I wasnt exactly sure..i depend on you peeps to correct me.

That's why I recommend ordering in the app. Properly packaged and delivered.
I would definitely order from the app..why would I go to another part of the ship, stand in line, put the food on a plate, walk 200 yards while going up and down stairs just to save $6..

Used to be a bucket of beer was pay for five and got the sixth for free. Not a great deal, but better than full price. A 7 dollar beer is not much better than a mixed drink. Well a little considering we are talking 16 oz instead of 12.
'The high price of drinking.. Almost the same as any sports bar here at home.
Yes, ridiculous..never understood paying that much money to drink. Talk about passing money away..

Hi,
I wonder if anyone could tell me if Carnival offer a free morning yoga class? I know some cruise lines do but I honestly can't remember seeing it on the Fun Times when I was on Sunrise in November
Many thanks
If you are priviledged enough to be in spa cabin you get 2.
Not sure what the poor folks in basic cabins get.
And before someone busts a blood vessel... i kid, i kid.

Likely bar space will remain bar space albeit with themes not yet finalized. Same with other allocated spaces.
Then the only "theme" we havent seen photos of yet is "the gateway" neighborhood that replaces the "french quarter"...
We have just seen what they are doing with the allocated space where "brass magnolia" is now located. That will now be the "golden jubilee".
We are now just waiting on what replaces the allocated space where "emerils" now has on the mardi gras.
We have seen "biscayne 820' the new theme that is replacing "LaPiazza" but it hasnt been announced yet what will be in the allocated space where the "panini deli" now resides..
Am i understanding you?

Maybe rooms are done but I dont see how deck plans can be finished when they are still announcing venues..

On the ship? i like to have food in axbar but most carnival bars dont have food svc. .

Its definitely different than the Mardi Gras. Looks like a cool place to have a drink and listen to jazz or something.
It doesnt seem nearly as open and airy as Brass Magnolia but that just might be the pictures. I will be sailing on her in feb 24'.
Although it it is different than the Brass Magnolia, I take back my comment about it being not as open. the angle i am seeing is from the promenade and it makes it look that way. i can see the bar area has high ceilings and the back of the bar goes down for table seating to watch the music..
Definitely looks like a happening spot. The Brass Magnolia is just so darn impressive that this design is just taking time to grow on me.

Exactly...you can have the nicest ship but if it doesnt fit what you want i dont think its something to book, regardless of itinerary..
I noticed someone above state that no ship was perfect so he.went with itinerary..
I just have trouble with.that view..much more time is spent away from ports.
