  1. It is most likely that Nicaragua will be cancelled and replaced with a sea day. That decision may not be made until closer to the sailing. If you want to do something there, I’d be sure to only make bookings that can easily be cancelled. This is an example of a port where I might limit myself to ship excursions.
  2. We had a fantastic lunch at this spot in Taormina https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187892-d15021607-Reviews-3_4uarti_Antipasteria_Siciliana-Taormina_Province_of_Messina_Sicily.html
  3. Power strips are permitted if thu don’t have surge protection. If you don’t literally need to plug things in though, a USB hub is a great solution. They come in many configurations. I have this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BN3PHRVZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
  4. As others have said, risk rises with age. Age limits are of course, not a perfect system for gauging risk though. Most operators do mention other requirements
  5. I think it’s more about who tour operators are willing to be responsible for. Their number one concern is getting everyone back on time. Weight and age restrictions may be designed to screen out those who may need assistance. It’s certainly an imperfect system but we were recently on a couple of excursions that required leaving and entering a catamaran to swim. It challenged quite a few and the crew really struggled to help a couple of them. I was concerned for everyone’s safety
  6. There’s an app called Ship Mate that would let you see a past itinerary. It’s great for tracking past and future cruises
  7. We are sailing out of Fort Lauderdale next month and have requested a crib for our grandson. I have the same concern as the original poster. If you could share the information on renting, I’d be very grateful
  8. Thanks for sharing. What a fun read! I’m ready to book that itinerary.
  9. I’ve had the same problem. Have you tried using a different browser or opening the website on your phone or a tablet? You can also use the app and see if that works.
  10. We did the Canada itinerary from New York that included Greenland in 2022 and I seem to remember a fair number of kids. That itinerary was longer, 16 days, and went right up to August 30. If we had teens there, I feel pretty sure you’ll see teens on the Island.
  11. Have you checked the Princess Lodges website? It has some good information. Here are activities at McKinley, ranger talks, walking trails etc. https://www.princesslodges.com/princess-alaska-lodges/mckinley-lodge/mckinley-amenities/
  12. No one said that there is no age limit booking direct. If you’re talking about my post, I shared a website for a company that offers snorkeling tours. I have no idea who even operates the Princess excursion
  13. You might try contacting this company. It appears that they provide the excursion for Carnival but give an email address for cruisers on other lines. They don't mention that you must be under 70. https://oceanvibes.com/rays-conch-reef-snorkel-adventure/
  14. That's a good point, if you do sign up knowing that you are over the age limit and manage not to get caught and kept from going, there might be a concern about whether own travel insurance would cover you if something were to happen.
  15. iPhone users have to be connected to their cellular data plan to share a hot spot. It can’t be done using wi-fi
  16. I would always choose the do my land tour first then sail south. First, the land tour is hectic with packing and moving frequently while the cruise includes time to relax. Second, I preferred getting the longer flight out of the way first when we started our trip in Fairbanks and finished in Vancouver.
  17. I wouldn’t miss booking a bucket list itinerary on the date that works for me. We had a great experience on the Island for an ocean to ocean Panama Canal cruise through the historic locks. The biggest issue I have with the Island Princess is the dungeon-like fitness center, but the gym is a relatively small part of the day for most of us. I feel the same way about the international Cafe, they are nice, but as long as I can get specialty coffee elsewhere, it’s not a big deal.
  18. If you buy the Plus fare package, you will need to purchase it for at least the first two passengers on the reservation (assuming the three of you are sharing one cabin) at $60 per person per day for a total of $120 per day. If you paid individually for crew appreciation for both of you ($16 each per day), wi-fi for just 1of you ($25 per day), the zero alcohol package for both of you ($35.39 per person per day) you would pay over $128 per day. Only you can say whether it makes sense. Coffee, bottled water, sodas etc can add up.
  19. Agreed, if you don’t want to take advantage of conveniences, you certainly don’t have to. I was simply answering your question. I personally wouldn’t be able to cruise as often or as long as I do if internet and smart phones were not available.
  20. These are presentations or “consultations” that are designed to encourage you to book treatments. There is a charge for the treatments.
  21. We've done a 6 night rail tour from Fairbanks to Anchorage with Princess and had absolutely no problem with luggage. Their process seems very well organized.
  22. You make a good point. I'm sure there were lots of people who thought the telephone itself was silly and needless when it was first invented. I certainly didn't see a day when we'd all want or need a computer at home, much less in our pockets, when I first started using one.
  23. It's one thing to be gone for a week or two, but I honestly can't imagine considering a month, much less a world cruise, without internet access. Prior to having smart phones and access to the internet, it was much more difficult to be away from home for long periods of time. Today, it's possible to monitor and pay bills, keep in touch with friends and family, book and change travel and tour arrangements, be easily reached by work, house sitters etc. My phone also has replaced my camera, alarm clock, and many, many sheets of printed paper.
  24. If you must drive, one option is renting a car for a day at departure and return and not having to worry about parking it. As for information on parking facilities, it’s generally the port that has the most accurate information available rather than individual cruise lines. I assume you checked their website and the homeport board here on Cruise Critic?
