  1. It really is beautiful. If you have some extra time there, just wander around. There are surprises around every corner and alleyway. But with so many historic sites to see, it's hard to take it all in unless you're there for several days. Wishing you a fabulous time!
  2. Yeah, just not good planning on their part. I'd prefer the Joy or Breakaway from NYC. Although I miss the Gem. Guess I'll have to check out the Prima at some point.
  3. The other thing the Concierge can do for you is to fix billing errors on your onboard account. No need to wait in the long guest services line. They also got us new key cards when ours stopped working. Enjoy!
  4. It is not that far, but generally there's one or two turns and the ramps are definitely inclined and for people with mobility issues it can be a struggle. Your best bet would be to contact NCL special needs department and request a wheelchair assist. It will take them from the terminal to the ship. It's been super helpful for my DH. The only thing is you may have to wait a little while for a wheelchair to become available.
  5. That is a problem. I really don't understand why NCL decided that the ship without a covered Haven would be their pick to sail year round from NYC. Who thinks that way!
  6. Port: Venice (when you were actually in Venice) Ship: Gem or any Jewel class ship Cabin: In my dreams the Garden Villa, but any suite will do depending on price
  7. I also wish they had loungers by the pool. My understanding is that children are allowed in the Haven pool area and can also use the loungers on the upper deck surrounding the pool area. As far as I know the only area where the children are not allowed is the outdoor sundeck area. Enjoy!
  8. Safe travels and have a great trip. Hoping the wi-fi cooperates and we can follow along. Just looked at the NYC webcam and the Joy is sitting there waiting for you looking pretty!
  9. I know. Really stupid. Lol! I just kept thinking there would be a box or something that I would have to click to say I watched. After all the hoops we had to jump through to sail during the pandemic, I think I was paranoid worrying that I'd do something wrong and not be allowed to board.
  10. Last cruise was the in person drill, but prior to that I did receive the e-mail to watch the safety video numerous times after also watching it during online check-in. In the week before the cruise, I probably got at least 4 e-mails to watch it as did many on our Roll Call. That happened every time when they weren't doing the in person drill. So, definitely not something new and we were only sailing the two of us. It's slightly annoying, but basically I just let it run as I've already watched it when I checked in. No worries, I'm just happy to be cruising.
  11. Same for me. I reached out to my PCC also and she was as confused as me. She said my reservation is still showing as active and she hasn't heard anything about changes in the Getaway's itinerary. Still hoping it's a glitch that will get straightened out soon. We'll all have very empty ships if no one else can book the cruise! LOL!
  12. There is usually some kind of pasta dish and if she eats fish pretty much all the restaurant have a seafood dish. Enjoy
  13. I've also found Le Bistro hit and miss. I used to love their Fruits de Mer and the chocolate fondue, but those we taken off the menu along with the steak au pourve (sp?) which was DH's favorite. I keep trying different things to find my new favorite. I did try the lobster thermidore and thought it was okay but not worth the upcharge. I did find both of the other 2 fish dishes excellent though, so I now have a new favorite in the sole.
  14. Looking forward to your posts as we'll be on the Joy in August. Also, just want to make sure you know that the Platinum dining coupons are 2 dinners per cabin, not per person. So, if both Platinum guests are in the same cabin you only get 2 dinners. If there is a Platinum guest in each cabin , then each guest get the 2 coupons (4 dinners). I know it's a bit bizarre but wanted to make sure you knew so you can plan correctly. Enjoy!
  15. Oh no. That was definitely a double whammy! I'm glad they finally did go back to the virtual drills.
  16. Never hurts to ask. Also, maybe ask them at the cruise next desk. Good luck and enjoy!
  17. So weird. I went to check on our 3/7/24 cruise on a travel site (not NCL) and it was also showing cabins available for the other 2 cruises on the Getaway in March 2024. Hopefully it's just a glitch on NCL's site.
  18. We also really enjoy stopping off in the lounge for a drink (or two) on our way back to our cabin in the evening. We've had some lovely conversations with the staff and other passengers. Super convenient if you're in the Haven proper.
  19. They can send me a dozen e-mails if they want to, as long as I don't have to do the in person muster drill, I'm good!
  20. I think I would go for it, only because an offer like this is very rare. Unless you feel that you would get more use from the spa, the luxury of all that space at such a great price would certainly make for a truly special vacation. We've stayed in and out of the Haven and found we now prefer to stay within the Haven (but then we're old and tired, LOL!) It's nice to check the hot tub on the way to the room, then if it's empty to pop to the cabin and change and enjoy. Seriously, you really can't go wrong either way. Wishing you a fabulous cruise whatever you decide.
  21. This! To Cap_D The only thing your child can't use is the outdoor hot tub on the ships that have one, but there is also a hot tub available by the pool. There are no outdoor "pools" in the Haven, so your child is not missing anything.
  22. Kids under 16 can use the pool and hot tub in the main courtyard area. They can also sit and use the lounge chairs on the deck above the pool in the area that circles the pool. The outdoor area with or without hot tubs depending on the ship is for passengers over 16. There is plenty of space for everyone to get the vacation the want, especially on the newer ships that have a larger adults (over 16) area. Enjoy!
  23. I hope the OP will post on their experience with this. I think I'd be very concerned. If there is a 5pm all aboard for an 11pm sail away I'd be very worried that the terminal building may be locked up after 5pm. I suppose it's possible someone is there for late arriving guests, but I wouldn't count on that. Interested to hear how this works out. I'd really hate to see my ship sitting there and not be able to get to it. Good luck!
