  1. I have mine approved all the way up to 2025. I find it interesting (not that I’m complying) that there is no advanced date limit on submissions. If I sold my stock prior to one of our upcoming cruises, I don’t know how they would know. I’m not being devious here, it’s just I this day and age where no cruise line wants to give away a dime, I find it interesting that they done say something like “ credit will not be granted until you are within. X period of time prior to sailing.
  2. Schmoopie, I am not big on materialistic displays, but I realize that many of our veterans of the Viet Namn era, yourself being one, may have never received a positive “welcome home”. I applaud any company who is trying to correct the negative way our veterans were and are treated. On another line we always go to the veterans gathering and my husband receives his pin. He has no desire to collect those (unlike service coins) and he watches for an older child and with his parents permission gifts him/her the pin and asks the recipient to one day find someone to explain the honor of serving in the US military. The always look like they’ve received the Nobel Peace Prize ( well, that’s not accurate because they probably don’t know much about it, so let’s say the MTV best video award) 😉. Maybe a bit of appreciation for our hero’s will come from one old soldier’s sharing a piece of Chinese produced piece of tin with an impressionable youth. just my thoughts. MB
  3. We were in a BA balcony on the Breakaway in December. We did not have robes in our room the first day and housekeeping said they would be delivered later in the evening. Delay is in the drying time of the robes. We have often found that to be the case on lines with very heavy robes. we received our robes, along with the requested coffee maker that evening. The robes are a nicer style than they had been. Not the waffle weave fabric, but a more plush robe. Although they are not the super heavy ones like Carnival has. I was not told anything about restricting them to club balconies only, but as we are Diamond that may have been reason. I have also found that since the restart and with so many new, or newish stewards they do not always have the correct answer. One day our steward left us only decaf coffee and he told us that all the regular coffee was gone and only decaf remained. Later that day another steward, who had overheard our hallway conversation with our steward dropped off a pile of regular coffee for us. He said many of the new guys (ours was on his first week ever) get inaccurate information, or misunderstand information and as such relay that to cruisers. If you get an answer that doesn’t sound right, follow up with a higher up. One of the beauties of the CC meet n greet is when the officers give you contact numbers for each of department heads. So nice to have a reliable source for information.
  4. Just a piece of information from my personal experience. This situation will not apply to everyone, but it’s worth considering. When the MAP program was announced I signed DH up as a veteran, and I registered as a military spouse. While DH has a separate account from me, I always handle the details so we book everything under my account. we decided to do a family cruise and take our grandchildren with us (a first for us). They will be in a room across the hall from us with either DH or I as they will be 15 and 18. Since I booked the inside under my name and the BA under DHs name, so we got a 10% discount on both cabins. here’s the problem we encountered. Since DH and I were both registered under my number, they only recognized one discount. I had to go through an arduous process, that took about ten days to complete to remove DHs idme account then log in to DHs account and re-register him. So we each have separate accounts that allow us to receive discounts on both rooms. aa I said,it may not be an issue for any of you, but as you register just do it in your individual accounts in the event you may want to sail with family and take advantage of your well deserved honor. thise are nice looking coins. DH has quite a few and looks forward to getting a new one. We are sailing the BA on the 26th so I’ll report back on what we receive.
  5. Call your PCP or TA. They should be able to do those reservations for you.

  7. Chief, I believe you and everyone else who has said so. I’m not a conspiracy kook who believes there is a wicked cabal plotting to lure me into buying certificates that I can’t use. I just keep reading the TCs and call me stupid but I am warped in that I think terms and conditions in their blunt legalese mean what they say. Silly me. if I can find enough neurons to figure out to post the link to the CruiseNext page I will post it.
  8. I have gone to the CruiseNext page that shows current promos such as double up, etc. and everything I’ve read says new bookings only. Obviously I not looking in the right place. Where do you see the offers where CNcan be applied to existing reservations? TY
  9. This is quite enlightening, inthat in all my years of using CN cents I have never been able to use them for anything other than once during a promo a few years back. It’s always so delightful when NCL disregards their TCs with random impunity. Having said that I usually book an IN and use WP to upgrade to BA. At times I receive the perks assigned to the original category, but more often than not I receive the BA perks. Go figger.
  10. Monica, we are the same way. We usually hang out on the serenity deck where we can read, watch the world float by and have some nice conversation with fellow cruisers and not need to scream over music.
  11. The reason you have received a cruise specific discount coupon is that it is for a Latitude cruise. Anyone gold or above receives one. You can read about the special events on the Latitude cruises in the digital newsletter. And maybe in the Latitude perks section, not sure if I saw it there also.
  12. FYI, if you’ve not signed up for Military Appreciation Program, it will give you 10% if you qualify. It is also for spouses of veterans.
  13. Make the bed, replace towels, clean the bathroom, restock coffee supplies. If it’s a sooty ship and cabin, wipe down the balcony, ice. I tell them up front to skip the towel animals, it takes up cabin space and is a time drain on the poor steward. In December our steward said he had 24 cabins on that sailing, but some weeks he has more. These poor guys are so stretched. We are tidy people so we try not to make anything harder on them than possible.
  14. We don’t generally go to the sail away parties any more, choosing instead to find the highest outside bar with the best view and meet new friends in a quieter spot. Carnival used to have a great sail away with a Caribbean band, but a while back they switched to a DJ and it kind of took something away from it. I’m not sure what they do now, if they have resumed that, but I doubt it given the losses they, and everyone else, suffered during COVID.
  15. NCL in recent years has reduced its Veterans gathering to almost nothing. While ir has been self led, usually someone from the CDs staff stopped in to say hello. Now, the gathering is in tiny print amidst the long list of activities and many people miss it. I know when it is usually held so thoroughly scan the a daily for time and place. I hope that our cruise on the 26th will be a return to recognition of our veterans. In December it was four guys in Maltings (I think). FWIW, I don’t usually make posts about what other cruise lines do, as all lines are different and that’s the joy of sailing multiple lines. But Carnival does a superb job. On the Breeze in October it was the finest recognition program we’ve ever had at sea, or at least in the last 15 or so years. NCL could learn a lot about how to do a good gathering from then - and yes, they had pins.
  16. Love the Spot! don’t know if it’s still open, but Queens BBQ was our favorite BBQ hole in the wall joint.
  17. Where I see the obfuscation is in the approach of the CN reps on some ships. Last cruise the CN guy was telling the guy ahead of me in line that he would pay for his spa treatment. Well, if the man had planned that as part of his vacation, I guess that’s true, but it is very misleading. You can tell from the questions on this board that people often times feel as though they’ve been mislead (or worse). I think if they want to sell future cruise certificates at 50% off they should just say so and charge you half rather than muddying the water. As I remember when the Future Cruise Certificates first came into being, that is how it worked.
  18. Buccees has a cult following and very funny billboards along the way. They have 42 stalls in each restroom and at least that many gas pumps. I like the brisket sandwiches and they have. Full wall of jerky if that’s your thing. I’d sY stop, just to see what it’s Ll about. They also have.Cute logo stuff
  19. Go to the BoA website for your card and click on rewards. The “eligible hotels and airlines” is not laid out specifically, but the TC says any business with the appropriate code designating it a hotel or airline.
  20. CN Haven have a $500 value and as such may be used for a Haven deposit. the procedure is quite easy. I transferred one to my daughter last month. I don’t remember if I had to send a one sentenance email that expressed my wish to transfer it to Jane Doe, or if it was all verbal, but it was easy peazy.
  21. I do wish NCL would stop with the intention obfuscation of the facts regarding the “OBC” with CN purchases. It really reeks of snake oil.
  22. What Julie said! But if you received a CN certificate from someone else, whether it was transferred to you as a gift, or you bought. It from someone, it can be used as. $250 deposit on a new booking. Nothing else. Zip, zero, zilch, nada - just a deposit.
  23. Yes, the CN guys don’t want you to understand this. They want you to spend dollars on shopping, spa, dining, rather than taking the credit. Now, if you were planning to buy that spa pass or specialty dining that’s fine. It’s all money in vs money out.
  24. Well it is OBC, but these are non-refundable, so they can’t be used for DSC, unlike OBC you might get from a travel agent. That is usually refundable. many people do not realize there are two types and the difference between them.
