  1. A ship was denied port for weeks just off the coast.  One day the crew found a bottle floating in the sea.   They fished it out and took it to the captain.  The captain opened the bottle and a Genie popped out!

Genie announced, " You freed me!  I will grant you 3 wishes!"

Captain said, "This is not right.  I am the captain of the ship, the passengers and crew should come first!"

Genie, "Alright, instead, I will grant everyone on the ship 1 wish."

So one by one, the crew and passengers all told the Genie, "I wish to go home."

Genie said to each one, "Done!" and each person instantly teleported back to their homes.

So at last, the Genie turned to the Captain and asked, "And now your wish?"

Captain said, "I am the Captain.  I stay with the ship.  But a Captain is not really a Captain without his crew and passengers..."

    Genie said, "Done!"

Bad idea. Once you "redeem" your FCC certificate it's considered spent. You don't get it back if you don't go on that cruise. I don't know why this is... I just know that I've been reading up on it because we are getting a FCC. Be very careful when you apply your FCC. As far as I can tell, the FCC certificates can not be reissued. Use it or lose it once you redeem it.

It is spent if you don't go on it.  But what happened if they are the one who cancelled it?   It seems outrageous that they would let you book with FCC and then cancel their cruise and take your FCC.

  3. If you do book 4/11 with FCC and they cancel on you.  Do you get cash back? 😛Probably not.  But maybe you will get 125% FCC.  Do it again and again... especially the Alaska ones... since you know they probably will be cancelled until at least July.   Pretty soon your 100% FCC will turn into 500%!   And you didn't even do anything wrong... just booking cruises... it is their fault that they cancel on you.

As we spend our last day in Fort Lauderdale after cancellation of Celebrity Equinox.

Last night it was announced all beaches in Fort Lauderdale and Miami will be closed.   In addition all restaurants will be required to cut capacity by 50%.    Bars and Restaurants need to be cleared out by 11:00 so have imposed.     Most are closing at 10:00 PM   Including our Embassy Suites, our hotel.

    Spring Break is over

It will be the same when you come back to CA here.... all bars and restaurants closed.  The freezing beaches are still open!

Do they? I thought the ban was for non-US citizens that were in the Schengen area/UK/Ireland 14 days before arrival to the US. We've been outside of that area for 16 days so far.

Probably okay then... didn't realized you guys been on the cruise that long.   Although it may not be ideal for them even if they could get to San Diego.  Flights to Europe from US are harder and harder to get, but it is probably happening everywhere.

Asked about cancelling my 21st April cruise this morning whilst on the phone to Celebrity UK. I am 37 days out and according to the cancellation conditions are in 50% penalty, so assumed that if I cancelled, I would get 50% cash, 50% FCC. However I was told no, it would all be given as FCC. This is a result of the changes to Cruise with Confidence last Thursday.
What are other people’s experience recently please?
The other option is to wait it out and see if it is cancelled anyway and then maybe get 125%FCC.

I thought it was changed on Wednesday not Thursday.  But it was late Wednesday so it could be Thursday in UK.   Yeah they changed it to all FCC.   I cancelled Tuesday and was wondering if I would get refund or FCC... turns out I got in just in time to get the refund.

My cancelled cruise still shows on the X website and there is no FCC showing anywhere.  I am being patient as I am sure X is working as fast as they can.  Am I missing something?  Should I just call and re-book?

I think people said it will take 2 to 3 weeks for the FCC to show.   I am wondering where it would show on the site.  Also my teenage son is one of the passenger in the 2 rooms.   I cannot create an account for him when I booked because it said passenger under 18 can't have an account.   So how will they handle his portion of the FCC.   Would they create an account for him even though he is under 18?

  8. I have used Reliefband (the one that looks like watch with pulses) since 2004 or 2005.   Since then I have bought about 10 of them to give to family members.  My mom's side of the family are very prone to motion sickness.   We get it riding buses, boats, pretty much anything that moves when we are not in control (driving).   Reliefband works.. for us.   I have loan mine out to many of my friends for cruises and they all said it works except one.   My wife and my niece also used it for morning sickness and it worked for them.

Before I got the reliefband, I have used one of those acupressure point wristband and that did not do anything for me.  I use my Reliefband for Harry Potter ride at Universal too... without it... it would have been really bad.....

  9. I could be wrong, but I think it is 125% excluding port fee and taxes.   For example, when they refund my cruise this week, I am supposed to get 75% back in credit card and 25% in FCC because the cruise was 75 days out at the time.   But I got about 82% back in credit card instead.  So I think they take the total subtract out the port fee and tax and use that as your cruise fare to calculate the FCC.

  10. It is pretty crazy to take 125% FCC instead of 100% cash refund.   You know that they will or have ready increase(d) the rate for every sailings until end of 2021 by probably much more than 25%.   All these people with FCC have to spend it by end of 2021... even if they don't artificially increase the rate... the demand will do it for them.

I thought I had read that on the X website, that it had to be booked by 12/31/20 and the cruise taken by 12/31/21.  But now all I see is that the FCC must be used on a cruise departing by 12/31/21.

Maybe they changed it.  I thought I read a few people here saying they had to book by 12/31/2020 when Cruise with Confidence first came out.

  12. Do you have to spend the FCC by the end of 2020 to sail by the end of 2021?  Or can you book sometime next year and sail by end of the year?   I thought I read some people said you need to book by the end of 2020.   If that's the case, they will probably just keep the price up until end of this year when everyone has to spend the FCC.   They could lower the price next year for the cash payers.

Can you update us on what your results were, please?

Just got credited back on my credit card today.  I am at the 25% penalty period.

    Timeline:

Filled out Costco Travel cancellation forms on 3/8 (Sunday)

Cancelled 3/9 (Monday) Shown as cruise cancelled on celebrity website

Refunded back to credit card 3/12 (Thursday)

    Total cruise price: 2 cabins x $3666 ($500 was deposit) = $7332

    Refund to credit card = 2 x $3007 = $6014

Have not see FCC show up on our Captain's club accounts yet.  Not sure what they are going to do with my son's FCC.  He is too young to have an account.  Wonder if they would just create one for him even though he is under 18.
