  1. What I find astonishing is that this very site, are still selling Cuban cruises from the US.

You can book MSC, RC, Carnival & NCL to depart in May!

Have we all missed some sort of deal being struck by the cruise lines with the US authorities?

All of the airlines and cruise operator's must be desperately trying to find proper answers.

I bet Virgin Voyages are frantic!

Another option for MSC would be not to use Miami for Cuba. Just like MSC Opera.

Such a shame governments around the world don’t trust their citizens to make their own minds up

Does anyone else think that MSC's on hold music is terrible?  I dread calling them and being put on hold to listen to techno music that sounds like it is coming from the bottom of a sewer.  Once I get to speak to a reservationist, the static goes away and the line is clear.  I'm beginning to think that the MSC Corporate office in Geneva needs to be put on hold for 15 minutes and then I bet it would be fixed.

    Would you rather have: -

Blondie - hanging on the telephone or

Engelbert Humperdinck - please release me?

or in the uk market if you booked before the changes were made then unmade also funnily enough if you book a USA cruise on the UK site it says mandatory charges not included if you book a european one it says up to you

Your 100% correct the below from my new booking for next year. Booked in the UK for a US cruise...

The per guest, per night service charge is not included in the cruise fare and is to be paid on board at the end of the cruise or pre−paid at the time of booking. The service charge is mandatory and will be added to the final shipboard invoice.

Just sitting at Southampton to board here today on Preziosa.

Been told boarding wont start until 1.45pm 😞

Was hoping to be on for lunch.

Are there many people there Dickuk?

Or is it a case of 90% embarking at Hamburg as usual?

that could be why you have 18:15 Nikita. There are so many embarking usually that they just try and spread out the passengers to make it easier. The earlier you get there the sooner you will get on.

Hope you both have wonderful holidays

Me either... as we booked this cruise and line for Cuba. If Cuba is off, they better give us something as this is a older ship we wouldn't have booked otherwise.... if they dont.... will probably be my one and only MSC cruise.

You could try, but I don’t think the US government will give you anything for changing foreign policy.

I am fairly new to cruising only been doing it about 3 years but enjoy it very much.

However on reading negative things posted on c.c. f/b etc the thing i have wondered many times is do a lot of people who  cruise either

    A. Like to  complain more than peope who take other types of vacations  or

    B. Have highter expectations and or standards.

You read some peoples complaints and think honestly if you are that upset maybe you should stay home or do a different type of vacation.

I struggle to understand the complaints such as no towel animals ruined my holiday or towels or sheets weren't changed every day or of the 200 or so items in a buffet it was the same every day.....

Ranks up there with British travel agents  releasing the funniest complaints ( "We booked an excursion to a water park but no-one told us we had to bring our swimming costumes and towels." Or the best one ever

    "The beach was too sandy.")😂😂

They truly do walk among us......

    This is so true.

There are 2 fairly regular posts that are quite hard for me to understand.

    1. “I spent half my cruise in line at customer service”.

I’ve seen this regularly across most of the main boards except one.

Why oh why if this is genuine, do the posters keep returning to say the same thing? Move on and stop reliving your nightmare, life is too short. Also, did you not think the bars, pools or restaurants were a better place to hang out? 😀

2, “I had a terrible cruise on xxx (all lines except one) but I’m coming back for more”.

    No - please don’t.

Again this is a form of self-harm and bad for your health. You are setting yourself up for a miserable cruise subconsciously, looking out for anything to say “I knew it” or “it’s even worse”.

Most bizarre discussion I’ve had onboard a ship was a gentleman who said “this is not up to my usual standard, I’m used to a queens grill suit on Cunard”. Turns out he was with a group of family members that were enjoying their cruise and he didn’t know why. He was sat with his DW who was looking almost suicidal.

They really are among us and on the seven seas 😳 so sad.

  8. Thanks very much Sirwolf. Your post helped me decide it was worth splashing out.

Well in regard to Bea’s post above, I have finally been able to upgrade to premium plus (from YC).

Interestingly although MSC claim the YC is not the “premium” package the charge per person is the premium plus package cost minus the premium package cost.

Therefore £13 per person per night.

Now that’s a bargain and worth the hassle.

The magic code to quote is...

699UPPPP−UPGRADE FROM PREMIUM TO PREMIUM PLUS PACKAGE

I'm sure you meant to say "Fantasia-class" there, Mark!  😉

I couldn’t make my mind up whether to say Magnifica or Fantasia-class so messed it up lol.

I could get a job for MSC haha

for all those new  to MSC you do get used to confusion and it’s worth it in the end.... when you get onboard 😀

It clearly states that venchi, including chocolate martinis are EXCLUDED from ALL packages....that means Premium Plus also, so venchi is now chargeable for everyone no matter your status or drinks package.

I like your style Hamrag but unfortunately it doesn’t work with MSC. As an example it clearly states (within Europe and UK)  if you book 3 people in a cabin and cancel 1 person, they lose their deposit. Actually what happens is the person’s cruise fare  is cancelled but the deposit paid doesn’t change. That’s why people book the square YC cabins on Magnifica class ships for 3 and cancel out one person later.

Thats why not everything MSC is straight forward and as it says!

  11. It really is laughable! Well said.

    in Italian whole is ‘totale’

    All is ‘Tutti’

so how many fruits does ‘tutti frutti’ gelato have in it?

Its a good job that MSC cruises are spectacular compared to others in the same price category.

  12. We’re on board Navigator now. Purchased the ultimate dining package and the food so far has been outstanding, well worth the money. Very quiet in the restaurants.

All the staff are very friendly and great at their jobs.

A little crowded inside due to weather outside as very windy.

    Anyone have any questions?

    Will try and answer them.

  13. Just booked the 4/26/19 sailing on the Navigator of the Seas! This will be our first RCI cruise; after having done Carnival, Princess and Celebrity. Looks as if the ship will be in dry dock in the beginning of next year. I am excited to see what changes will be made. It’s still 260 days away, but I’m already looking forward to it!

We booked 577 days ago an embarkation day is Sunday..... I feel your waiting pain and excitement [emoji3]

  14. Hi Bea and Dave

It’s good to be back, you wouldn’t believe how many bits of paperwork there are to start a business!

I really don’t understand why they give better offers to the US site. Would they really want less of a mix on the cruises or was it a trade deal between trump and Juncker? I guess the ships are made of steel!

Everything on the RC US website is 9% cheaper than the UK excursions drink packages as well! We just can’t win.

  15. I appreciate them not doing it but if you want to book Y/C experience the sooner the better plus prices tend to go up as you get closer to cruise date. I know that for a fact because we already booked for May 2019 several months ago and the pricing has gone up $600 for the three of us since my booking.

I know we recently booked meraviglia out of New York next year and the YC prices were very high. I think the US market is taking off in YC and not helping us. Prices definitely going up everywhere!
