I am new to MSC. Sailed Royal and Celebrity primarily and NCL and Carnival once. Sailing on 2nd NCL in November.
How does MSC compare to NCL with food, staterooms, service and entertainment?

Hi, have a look at the live report from Nikki for the latest Seaside ‘truth’.
-
Hi Nikki. Thanks so much for reporting as it is. Wonderful review so far.
If you see Marco Massa say hello from ‘the English stalkers’ in sure he will laugh.
We had a photo with him in the morning at the CC meeting when he had long hair. Then in the evening after his hair cut and my wife noticed! He was very happy!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday

For us embarking at Marseille will be £800 cheaper than embarking the day before at Barcelona it’s worth checking all the ports

I understand what MSC is trying to do in its marketing and that there will be a good mixture of cultures. What I don't understand is why anyone believes that because of this, MSC is immune to this behavior. Does anyone know what the mixture was on the Carnival cruise?

Wow must be a tough day on the Carnival board for you to venture over to the dark side. May the force be with you [emoji33]

We had a great time. We just enjoy cruising! We are small eaters so food is not a big issue.
The Capt. was Captian Francesco Di Palma who was also on in Nov 2017.
Don't recall Wesley at all, sorry. Hotel Director and CD were new to us. I can't recall their names and their phots are not on the MSC site.
All change for the Divina crew then. Glad you had a great time I can’t wait for 2 weeks in Bellissima YC in April 2019 only 413 days to go [emoji25]

I’d be concerned with discharging mace in an enclosed space, especially if it was in an interior corridor.
Judging by the ‘staffs’ reaction the first person to get it would have been the poor cameraman or camerawoman... shocking
-
I noticed that too. I would’ve had a real issue that I would be addressing with Carnival after the dust settled if that was me holding the phone. They obviously were not interfering. And as long as security was following proper protocol the video should be their least concern.

This is all over the UK press and the summer season has thousands of cabins left for sale. This incident may well burst the Cruise bubble what a shame
-
You don’t see that on Neighbors, Home and away or Bondi rescue 🤦*♂️

What has gone viral in the UK is the unprovoked attack by the ‘officer’ on someone filming the incident. Unbelievable and will have repercussions throughout the cruising community. Well done Carnival

It feels like the cruise lines are steering guests to the specialty restaurants by decreasing the quality and selection of food in the MDR.

Exactly. We have just 2 weeks holiday this year. We’ve spent £6,000 on a cruise.
I’ve studied all the threads on RC for the last 6 months.
Would I risk having a mediocre cruise due to ‘poor’ or ‘average’ food when we can have ‘amazing’ or ‘excellent’ food for a small percentage increase. Nope.
We’ve ‘upgraded’ to the UDP and yes I feel as guilty as hell for it. We shouldn’t feel like that as the MDR food should be a main selling point for RC.

Tony hope you had a wonderful cruise...
Is Marco Massa still the captain and Wesley still organising everything?

Haha thanks Bea. Seriously though wouldn’t it be amazing if we all on here were to do a group cruise in 2020. I’m sure Dave would be the Worlds Best Organiser. What do you all think?

Dave have a look at the Carnival board I couldn’t help it!
If I’m banned I love you and Bea xx

Thanks for the warning Dave I will steer well clear of Carnival. CC have a duty of care to passengers and should consider not selling Carnival cruises.....it’s dangerous out there

I talked a large group into joining us on the Seaside. Everyone is reading reviews and wants to cancel. Any word if the sewage smell can be corrected. Also, this is a very casual group - all eat at the buffet 3 meals a day. If the dinner buffet does not start getting better reviews, I have no hope of saving this group. I really hope MSC is reading the reviews. I'd love to try this ship. We have been on more than 55 cruises. It would be nice to add another line to the list.
If you search here you will see people on the seaside now. Ask them what questions you have on their threads.
There is a lot of negative marketing at play on this site.
Such a shame if you cancel as you will have a wonderful cruise with MSC I have done

I reckon I can guess the nationality of the 'packs' in question

I think we all know. On my NCL Cruise last year there were about 300 with ‘J e t o u r’ I know that because they had their own stand in a lounge. That is until 4 gents from Texas removed the stand to the top sun deck.
The trouble is the group move like a flock of starlings (being kind there)
So where they go the area is wiped out completely. Such as the buffet 3 hours before docking in port and they are playing cards or dominoes. Or the games room etc.
Benefits though are they flocked to a Madonna quiz which we were the only westerners that attended and won with a score of 4 out of 20.
Some real tension and arguments on board

I have heard far more about the YC than I ever heard about the "Grills" on Cunard.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to answer this...
firstly I get paid expenses for my train journey to work and I travel ‘standard class “ not first class.
After having conversations with ‘cunard’ regulars on Divina I know that’s not for me either!
The week on Divina in the Yacht Club was our best vacation ever. Honestly ever.
I have 2 cruises coming up a RC cruise that actually costs more than a Bellissima Yacht Club cruise.
I know what I’m most looking forward to!
Just try Yacht Club it really isn’t ‘stuck up’
-
You sold me, how can I say no to all those perks. It’s YC all the way now. Sorry fellow CC club members, I’m going to the dark side.
Cheers.

Haha welcome onboard

But I spend very little time in a YC balcony cabin in comparison to a regular balcony cabin

What about the DECK Chair club? This reminds me of a real life event...
Back in the 90's, when I was working for a large agency (farmer now)...we had a guy call in to book a 'honeymoon'. He SERIOUSLY wanted to know how much it would be if he brought a cooler with his own food and he and his wife-to-be SLEPT ON THE DECK by the pool! He didn't need a room. The agent told him to stay home and go camping, then hung up on him. :)
A holiday company that also has cruise ships are trialing ‘reserve your sun lounger for £22 per day’ they even have them on a plan! Hilarious

Ouch... our Divina YC out of Miami was £50 cheaper with flights (from London) than YC out of Southampton.
