I’m sure you will love the layout it really is good. We loved it. Although it was 4 weeks after an NCL inside for 4 🤦*♂️
I’m gutted about that mirror going but Jane said she’s delighted [emoji12]🤣

No idea what you mean by your statement and neither should you since you have never cruised on a Carnival ship according to your signature. You sound just like the Loyal Royals who bash Carnival without ever sailing on them.
I’ve been to the Notting Hill Carnival does that count?
-
How about lobster creme brulee?
Anyone who puts lobster in creme brûlée should be sent on a Carnival security training course 🤣

No, Mark - I haven't. You have me intrigued!
ETA ... Think I'm going to have to have another word with Roxanne (VC rep) - this time, about these emails I'm not getting (in a timely fashion, anyway).
Haha intrigued and so you should be [emoji3]
How do I send it to you without others seeing it?

So, I finally got the email from MSC today, advising the members-only pre-sale.
Something interesting caught my eye (and apologies if it's been mentioned before. If so, I haven't seen it). It's intended that there will be an exclusive restaurant for Aurea guests. A much better situation than the (original) set-up on Meraviglia where it wasn't clear which restaurant Aurea guests would dine in.
On another note, how can you have "First pick on cabins, before public sales open" when there are no deck plans? " Sales are now open for its first season, but only to you, our members, until 18th March, allowing you to secure your favourite cabins." This is patently not true! When we booked Meraviglia during its pre-sale, we didn't get to "secure (our) favourite cabin". It was a 'Guarantee' booking. We couldn't even choose the deck we'd like to be on. Maybe someone who is booking Grandiosa during this pre-sale will share their experiences of choosing a cabin on a ship that hasn't been built, yet.
Hi Bea
Have you got today’s email from voyagers club?

I got the email offering us Black members the possibility to book the Grandiosa. But the Mediterranean in Winter? I am not sure I wish to cruise there in Winter.

Hello Ivi
I think we are right on the edge of ok Weather booking Bellissima starting April 6th. November to March after Bea’s recent cruise is definitely not for us.

Haha oh that made me laugh Bea

Just at Basingstoke railway station and a freight train has gone past with 44 MSC containers on it. Just wondering if it might be balcony furniture or butter for Bellissima 🤣🤣

Just got the below email...
£100 deposit but no mention of a free cirque de soleil dinner show like I got when booking Bellissima [emoji33]
Mark,
Another extraordinary new ship is now under construction for MSC Cruises. It is MSC Grandiosa, launching in November 2019. Sales are now open for its first season, but only to you, our members, until 18th March, allowing you to secure your favourite cabins.
As the name suggests, it is going to be big - our biggest ship to date. The MSC Grandiosa prototype is a larger version of MSC Meraviglia and MSC Bellissima, featuring more public space for guests and new features.
To celebrate the opening of sales we are offering an additional 5% early-booking discount for the next six months, combinable with your always-available 5% club discount.

Haha thank you Bea [emoji3]

Silly me - I was looking at Bellissima! For December, cheapest is €1329 pp here for YIN. (Roughly £1200). That's from Barcelona - always the cheapest quoted for us because of direct flight availability.
That’s better then. I can’t wait for Bellissima [emoji3]
We’re also visiting your shores next year. We were presented with a cruise last weekend as a sort of bonus!
Calling at killibegs, Dublin & Cobh!
Only trouble is it’s with that Dover Calais car ferry company, on the ship who’s engine had to be replaced in January.....wish us luck [emoji15]
-
No Bea it was December at the lowest priced week. I can only get the dates from Nov 16th where the inside price is £1,136.25 from Genoa
21st November from Barcelona inside is £1,082 and YC balcony £1,470

Although the YC inside price is appealing at £1,009 the weather could be horrendous.
At the same time last year cruises were advertised leaving Miami for $300!
(I know I know hurricane season)
My daughter turns 18 in May and it looks like she’s not allowed to share a YC balcony but it’s ok if she’s 17????
Confused [emoji15]

I’ve now idea how we signed up to the “newsletters”
I was hoping that they would put August 2020 on there being a new ship we’re booked up until then and like you say Bea the med in winter is hardly something to get excited about.

Hi Bea, I got an email “23rd Feb 5.04pm monthly newsletter II 2018”
It was in there.
My fingers are sore from trying to see YC prices today but I got nowhere!
I thought of you Dave, as for a while the only cabin not ‘sold out’ was an Aurea suite.
Fingers crossed it will be working before the 2 weeks run out [emoji15]

Yes if you go to the MSC site, sing in and then there should be a link. That is what happened for Bellissima. I think for the winter season it will be the Mediterranean circuit. I’m hoping summer 2020 will be on their as it’s our silver wedding anniversary [emoji3]

thecruisers6, I could not have worded it better about not getting caught up about YC. For us also it comes down to finding a good deal by researching.
Don’t forget it’s the start tomorrow of the voyagers 2 week pre sale for Grandiosa. That’s how I got such a good deal on Bellissima for next Easter.
-
I'M ONE OF THOSE LOWER LEVEL CRUISERS LOL?- As I got a VERY GOOD Rate for this cruise)
Kurt
Don’t get caught up with the negative marketing directed at MSC’s Yacht Club. It’s not like the titanic!
People in the Yacht Club are normal people like me who are able to study the pricing and look for bargains.
My Divina Yacht Club and my upcoming Bellissima Yacht Club cruise are cheaper than a standard balcony on my royal Caribbean cruise.
I have also had a standard balcony on Splendida as my first cruise and loved it. It’s all about getting the right deal.
My number one tip is listen to your waiters recommendations. Usually delicious authentic Italian cuisine.
From the buffet head for the pizza and the pasta it is a million times better than the NCL equivalents.
Status match on voyagers club via the MSC website for great perks.
MSC employ security from Israel so you haven’t got the same worries you would have on Carnival these days.
Enjoy your cruise

Many thanks everyone

Hi all,
Looking for some knowledge on the sea state between New York and the Bahamas at the end of May.
Having been scared half the death by 24 foot waves off Iceland last year I need to know!
Thanks in anticipation

There are a lot of reasons why the bar service has gotten so bad in the MDR, including the rise of beverage packages.
Not only is the cruiseline trying to make it more difficult for you to get what you already paid for, the servers now have a strong base tip built in to their wages from the packages. Used to be servers would actually work beyond their scheduled hours to earn extra tips - now there is not much incentive for them to do so.
I’m more disturbed that the responsibility for getting paid beverages in the MDR has now fallen to the assistant waiters. They are busy with that and it makes it much more difficult for them to support the waiters like they used to.
The three story dining rooms are magnificent venues, especially on the Voyager/Freedom class ships. It’s such a shame that the service and food does not measure up to it. There are so many restaurants on land that offer similar experiences to the specialties, but I’ve yet to see anything like the MDRs anywhere on land. I’d be happy to pay for a premium location in the MDR, with premium service, with the existing premium menu. Seems like this would be an easy moneymaker for the cruise lines: after you’ve booked your cabin, instead of just selecting a preference on time and table, offer the ability to upgrade- similar to what the airlines do with seating.

You are a genius I would rather pay for an upgrade in MDR than go on a culinary trip around the world 3 times for a 14 night cruise.
-
Look at the latest review. Margarita Cruis said “the whole dining experience was very disappointing”.
Such a shame but would rather “upgrade” to UDP than cancel.

Your right Bea. Jane has a photo although she says don’t look too closely if you’re about to eat!
