  1. The Pizza was pretty good and we had ordered extra everything . MIA was the Cilantro . We love Cilantro . Yea the Celebration looked like a denizen of the deep gobbling up the port .
  2. Saturday , October 29th found us in Nassau . We went to the Crow's nest for Pat's cup of Jo . Tyler was still sleeping so we went to the Pinnacle for a relaxed breakfast. They had recently cut the Canadian Bacon in half so we ordered Back Bacon to replace it on the Eggs Benedict . We were docked next to Disney's newest ship the Wish . It holds 2500 - 3500 passengers while the Nieuw Amsterdam holds 2100 - 2500 . We had a lunch date ashore but while we were waiting we saw a lifeboat drill As you may have noticed , there was a lot of construction along the waterfront
  3. In the morning we had a relaxing spa day before looking for lunch . So no App ordering or delivery . It didn't work the entire cruise . We walked down to the NY Deli to no line and ordered a pizza , salad and a Pastrami ( double meat ) . We found a shady spot - until they opened the roof We found another spot and ordered a couple of beers . I requested a draft and there runner had to go to 3 bars to find one so I gave him a good tip The line had picked up when we picked up our food Finished with a Gelato - A yummy finish
  4. And we're continuing with our dinner at the Tamarind with our grandson Tyler Desserts We really spent a lot of time with these wonderful folks and got to know aand to love them . They said that the sign that they were making with their fingers means I Love you in Thailand .
  5. Yes it is . And on the upper decks is and amusement park with - a roller coaster The Ultimate Playground The Ultimate Playground (aft on Decks 18-19) is a large family-friendly play area highlighted by fleet's largest Carnival WaterWorks (aquapark) and an expanded SportSquare (sports complex with a basketball court, ropes course, jogging track, mini-golf). Also here is the "BOLT Ultimate Sea Coaster" (first at sea). We are returning to our other thread and will continuing our other thread found here :
  6. After dinner in Rudi's we returned to the cabin and found the info for the D.R. Amber Cove is a typical Carnival port designed to keep you ( and your money here ) . You have to walk through their stores and crowds designed to keep you there . We've been on private tours to the city and countryside a couple of times and it's about a mile to the front gate each way . Worse , we don't care for the time change - especially for only 1 day before switching back the same night . We knew that a Carnival behemoth would be their an hour ahead of us and they were supposed to leave a hour ahead of us . Their ship could pack 6300 passengers when full . Thus it was a chill and spa day and we hoped to go in later and take a photos of them sailing away and a clean photo pf the Nieuw Statendam in port . The views coming in . Looking forward to a sunrise Cue Jaws music for the video Quite an elaborate set up for the Carnies
  7. Thank you fusion927 . We were nearing the Turks and Caicos as we were closing in on the Dominican Republic .
  8. While preparing for dinner we saw a couple of shades of color in the ocean . It was deep water so it wasn't a reef and we didn't see a large cloud shadow - so who knows ? Dinner at Rudi's Our table was in the center row the first one by the kitchen Charger plates The Amuse bouche was Anchovy . Not as yucky as it sounds Condiments for the bread Escargot Osetra Caviar grown in - Florida Rack of Lamb for her was good Grilled seafood platter with a clothesline lobster . With the same seasoning and grilling process it all tasted pretty much the same Profiteroles All and all is was pretty good and our server was Mohammed from Morocco and he had an eye for and attention to detail . As we left we requested a side table for our next trip here .
  9. With lunch at the Pinnacle our server was very good and was from Nigeria . DW 's Beef Carpaccio was the best that she ever had . I like spicy but the soup was too much and lacking the veggies that come on the soup spoon The crab cakes were good Anyone care to guess what this is ? It was goopy and drippy . The Pinnacle burger was cooked good and the fries were good but too much Chipote on the burger too smoky and spicy to enjoy . Attention to detail ironing the table cloths The mystery meal was Mushroom Ravioli that wasn't good . We usually eat lunch at the Pinnacle on sea days and we cancelled the next time and explained why to the person at the door on the way out .
  10. Manzanillo , Mexico Huatulco , Mexico A Panama red sunset across the wake near the Canal A South Florida skyline after leaving Port Everglades Key West sunset at the sailaway
  11. Continuing our ship walk on Deck 2 The World Showcase was showing the Deep Blue as we walked in expecting to find a film about sea life . It seemed like it was more about greed and Mel's Fisher's Son Dirk and his DIL dying in the process . The Digital Workshop . No more computers but painting @ $ 25 at pop The Rolling Stones Rock Room The Pinnacle is where we normally eat breakfast on all of the other class ships as we like Neptune Suites . We would be having lunch there later today . B.B. Kings would have $ 1000 Bingo game of chance . About a minute later they had - surprise 2 winners ! So we guess it was a $ 500 jackpot x 2 . The Atrium We would be having dinner at Rudi's this evening The Whiskey tasting area Notes The breakfast area for the Neptune Suites and it's art work The musical instruments are the exterior rooms Finally , the MDR reminded me of being in the belly of a whale - complete with giant ribs . Shot from the 3rd floor .
  12. Monday January 16th was our day at sea and the sea was calmer and the air warmer . It was a Dressy day for dinner and we were headed for the Dominican Republic . Room service for breakfast . A ship walk day . First some art . When I think of Dutch art I think of Rembrandt , Van Gogh or Bosch . We don't much enjoy pop art but here's some . The last one looked like a child's toy scattered around under plexiglass . Until I changed perspective and took a second look The Deck plan near our elevator A look at the retreat We would not recommend # 1 for it's lack of privacy The Crow's nest and Explorations Cafe
  13. On our 7 day cruise on the NS it had 5 Casual days and 2 Dressy days which were on Monday and Thursday - our 2 days at sea . We don't usually get real dressed up in the Caribbean as we are using the extra area in the suitcase for fins , mask and snorkel and wetsuit/bathing suits . It is a little cooler this time of the year ( so fleece ) in Ft. Lauderdale and the Bahamas and on deck it's cool in the wind . We were in Rudi's both dressy nights so it was a little more upscale . In fact all of dinners were in the fancy restaurants but we weren't out of place as it was about 50-50 for jackets .
  14. Disney World opened on my 21st birthday - quite a coming of age present . When we and the kids started arriving in the early 80's it was like a cruise for us and them . My wife and I still remember the A,B,C,D and E ride ticket books that came with admission in the early days . We did homeschool our children until High School and were able to get a Floridian 3 season pass for us and the kids for a great price . The only dates excluded were Summer , Christmas and Easter/Spring . That was fine as we try to avoid crowds and lines ( one of the reasons that Mr. Walt started it ) . Our son and his wife ( who have 2 colleges each ) took our youngest grandson and went there on Christmas Day this year and told us it was a big mistake (We guess he wasn't paying attention in homeschool) . Anyhow he's quite a video gamer/ techie and wrote a book about how gaming can teach us about success in management , work and life skills . For him to be flustered with the crowds and the current Disney of doing things tells us that we will not be going there anytime soon . Unless they open Victoria and Alberts with better prices . The last price was $ 295 p.p. with wine . When we first ate there is was only $85 p.p. and here's the 3 desserts with coffee . Sorry about dark lighting in the video clip .
  15. We haven't seen the classes AC . But they do offer free adult drawing classes and painting classes for a charge .
  16. Dinner at the Canaletto . We like plain pasta to park their delicious meatballs and Chicken Parm on We had heard that the Crab Risotto was something special but we tried many times to get it without tomato sauce but to no avail . But the chef on this ship consented ! We really appreciated their effort but it just was not good to our taste . A lot of delicious Gelato I've had a lot of Lemoncello and this was good . But we've never seen it in a glass like this . Overall we enjoyed dining here 2 thumbs up . I
  17. There are a couple of things that we miss from BC ( before Covid ) . One was the free computer classes . And back in the good old days we remember HAL had a RC priest , an Interdenominal minster and a Rabbi . Now only a RC Priest . Worse than the services having to be DIY is that the Mass was every day and announced in the Daily Program with a convenient time and place and the Shabbat service also . But nothing for the interdenominal DIY . When we called the front desk they told us that we should have looked on their App . This just seems to feed into people constantly playing with their devices and ignoring others and their meals and vacations . It is their choice but we like to enjoy our meals , each others company , and discourages meeting other cruisers and the crew . We tried using their App to order food from the Dive In and NY Deli every day and it never worked on this cruise . Finally , the Interdenominal service was set at 6 -7 PM , prime dining time . We did change our time from 6 to 7 . The service was well enjoyed by those who attended and a number of times previously we did see no empty seats and had to borrow ones from other rooms . Oh well .
  18. A sail away clip from Nassau . 70 % of the population of the Bahamas live in Nassau . The total amount of the 6 ships capacity if filled would be 20,000 or 10 % of the total of the Nassau population .
  19. Thanks . We will work the dinner photos when our grandson finishes pressure cleaning and sealing the driveway . Dinner was at the Canaletto ( Sunday night is Chicken Parm night ) .
  20. The Nassau Harbor ship show . We had a good view of the ships entering and exiting the port . A lot of construction near the pier . The Carnival Liberty was in port when we arrived Across from us we saw a bed on the balcony . Maybe Maverick - the groom was misbehaving and ended up on the couch for the evening ? The NCL Pearl we went on with our young grandson at Halloween when it was a new ship The Liberty of the Sea was the second ship named Liberty in the port And the baby sister Jewel of the Seas The Jewel of the Seas was backing in next to her big sister A golf cart and 2 cans The Dawn was gone The effects of hurricanes . Beautiful and location until the storms hit . Ditto for the Lighthouse . When we did our first TA across the Atlantic it was on the Celebrity Constellation and this was our last stop before Bermuda . As we were leaving the waves were crashing higher than the lighthouse ! Atlantis , we have never been there ( too many people ) . We have tried to dive in Nassau but they don't make it easy for cruisers . Close up detail of the Liberty OTS . Notice the curved forward windshield for the forward balconies . Chasing the Dawn Nassau in the setting sunlight Pilot boat escort service A Sunday Sunset
  21. Thank you guys . A quick peek at the pig out lunch . Baby back ribs , pulled pork and BBQ beans on the grill . Inside was potato salad , coleslaw and corn
  22. As for the wedding party the guy in the blue shirt wore a Maverick on his T-shirt and took some frequent walks from the party . If the reference on his shirt is to the movie then he appears to have a back seat driver as his partner . It kinda gave us cold feet ( even when wearing Alpaca socks ) thinking about our upcoming daughter's wedding and some of her friends that we don't care to see especially when they are drinking too much truth serum . It's time to man the BBQ for lunch and we'll be back after lunch with a boatload of some new photos .
  23. On the first day's lunch it was a bit cool ( upper 30's where we live and a high of the upper 50's ) and quite breezy . Thus I was craving the soup more than the sandwich . The next time I would order the sandwich without lettuce and tomato as it made it mushy like the lobster roll in a previous lunch . It bordered , like the cole slaw , on being slimy .
  24. And we're back from a busy day yesterday helping our grandson who was pressure cleaning our driveway and pool deck and sealing it . In the early morning we had an interesting first time visitor which we videoed through our dirty front windows . He or she moved very fast but you can see it best at the 25 second mark . My camera scared it away when it made a sound as I switched it from video to try to take a still photo . But it was back this morning for a quick breakfast .
