  1. NCL has always had a drink package that costs twice that of their competitors. Their inflated cruise fares plus "gratuity" charges cover the cost of this "perk." It's obvious they raised the price to increase "gratuity" revenue. So I have to wonder...what happens when NCL no longer offers the drink package as a "perk?" Are people really naive enough to pay $120/day and not even get a bottle of water that sells for $.10 at my grocery store?

Water is sold at 10¢ as a loss leader.

  2. People who intend on drinking more than $831.60 pp per week will buy the package.

People who don't intend on drinking $831.60 pp per week will not buy the package.

Many people suspect that NCL is heading towards all-inclusive in all or most markets and every guest 1&2 will get the UOB/UBP as part of the fare whether they want it or not. The only people who will buy the UOB/UBP at retail will be guests 3+ or people who book Sail Away. If/when that day comes, people will choose what works best for them....if they have the option.

I hope not. I do not want to subsidize other people's drinking.

  3. Thanks! If he can just have a hula-hoop size space around him without someone bumping into him' date=' he will be fine. He just can't stand the drills Carnival does out on the decks, where they crowd everyone in, making them stand touching one another pretty much from all sides with the sun bearing down and taking forever to go through the info. Too much sensory overload that he can't escape. I may check into the make up just in case.[/quote']

At the main muster drill it is usually the case that you will NOT have much space around you at all. I've been outside, in dining facilities, in the atrium ,and in the theater for drills. All weer pretty crowded with no chance of space like you describe. Id go with the make up drill and talk to CS ahead of time about it.

  4. I was recently on the Getaway and the food was not as good as last year's EPIC or ESCAPE. Was it a one-time event or have others perceived the same thing. They are not serving the better cuts of meat unless you go speciality restaurant. Now it is lamb shanks instead of leg of lamb. Anyone else? Thoughts?

    No negativity please.

We never eat lamb as it tastes like rancid beef, in fact the very smell of it almost makes me heave. To answer the main question, no we have noticed no change in the food on NCL at any point.

  5. Many problems with no resolution except "sorry" , a cruise changes carpet on a cruise, gives you the wrong time do you can't get your beach 🌴gear, so we are stuck o on the ship, and we should get nothing! I disagree, all wrongs will be taken care of with this one cruise

    No they wion't

  6. when traveling, disposable diapers are a god send. Have you actually traveled with an infant on solid foods in cloth diapers?

You have to store and wash the dang things. The last thing someone wants to deal with on a cruise is a pile of pooped on diapers....

I fully understand the desire for them. The point I was making is that banning straws as an environmental issue is like pouring a teacup full of water on a forest fire and thinking you are actually contributing to put out the fire.

  7. Oh it's true.

Diapers ARE a necessity. Please cite your source for the number of diapers sold on NCL ships.

DISPOSABLE diapers are not a necessity. I never said that I knew the number being sold. Nice try though better luck next time.

  8. So some speculate that there is a certain price in which bids “automatically” get upgraded.

It may be a threshold that is somewhat acceptable to NCL to take money now, rather then wait and have the consumer withdraw the offer. This is said to happen about 24 hours after a large bid.

Do we know if it is really automatic or must it be reviewed manually by a person. Has anyone ever had a bid accepted on the weekend? What does it take in your experience? (Good, fair, strong, excellent, etc)

Can anyone chime in with an automatic upgrade or a bid that was accepted within 24 hours...

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The most important word has been highlighted. The entire upgrade process is run by a third party, not NCL. Seeing as the amount for a winning bids would be different on each sailing of each itinerary there is most likely no set magic ring amount that will be an automatic winner.

  9. Ok so quick summary of help (lot of pages on this thread) on our next cruise we will reach platinum status. I am not a big fan of ncl, but if the cruise is cheap we hit it, never have I received any money/obc for any complaints over the years. Not once, So we have a plan to make up for all the things that went wrong (example: safe did not work binoculars locked in so we could not see the whales, replaced carpeting in our room said they would do it at 2pm, we went to get changed at 1pm and room already ripped apart, leak/smell in bathroom, things like that etc...)

So our plan is not to pay any service charges on this cruise, a one time thing only to make up for all other mistakes of ncl. Please good people what do we need to do. thank you

So you are going to short change the crew on the current cruise to "make up for" mistake by other crews?

  10. We did complain to guests services about recurring water leakage in the bathroom, so NCL will have a record of our complaints. We didn't know about the option to adjust the service charge until now. Will reducing the service charge affect the salary of the staff? Remember reading somewhere that it may not affect staffs' pay but not sure. Thanks so much.

The entire DSC goes to the crew members as an incentive program. It will impact whatever the incentive program is but it won't impact their salary.

  11. Might want to check with the TA. Whenever I get the NCL prepaid gratuities perk as a group booking, it extends to cover the gratuities on the UBP as well. That might just be my TA, but it's worth looking in to.

I can fully assure you that this is your TA eating the UBP gratuities. As we all know, the DSC has nothing at all to do with gratuities.

  12. i don't spend tons of time in the casino but i do spend a fair amount of time in it. I'd be interested in following your casino bliss report since we board november 3. I'm interested on the kind of slot machines they have and the minimum bets on table games.

    tons = a lot

    fair amount = fair amount

    Understand now?

Actually I re-read it a bit later and caught what you were saying. My lysdexia kicked in and I read it as you don't spend time in the casino but you spend time in the casino. LOL

  13. Do you need to do anything special to "join" the CAS rewards program or just show room key when sitting at a table to get rated? Or do they actually have a player's card when enrolling that you can use in the machines a la the Vegas players clubs? Thanks.

Just go to the desk and ask for a card.
