  1. The path goes through areas of Iceland, Greenland, and Spain - among a few other areas. Unfortunately the weather and chances of visibility could play a significant factor at most of the locations the way I'm reading. Princess passengers got to see the recent total eclipse near the start of the path in Mexico.
  2. Trying to look up cruises and all I get is "access denies on this server". Any idea why? The link below would seem to suggest an error on their end rather than mine. Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.royalcaribbean.com/" on this server. 3. Even that sometimes is no guarantee! We were on an RCL excursion one time in Latvia during our Baltic cruise, and the tour group leader left and went back to the ship without us! We were in an organ concert with the entire group and a few people started to not feel well, so she took them outside. At some point, apparently, the entire made their way outside as well - so admittedly we were probably at the tail end of all that (weren't all seated quite together since it was very crowded) - but, still, she never counted her group to make sure everyone was there! It all worked out being that we hitched a ride with a different tour group. We made our presence known back on board (and we're not the type to complain about most anything but this had us most unhappy) and I seem to recall an apology, but nothing else was said or done. It had a lasting impact however in that to this day DW is always a bit nervous as to making sure we're at the correct place and time to meet up with a group escort to head back to the ship - especially in a foreign country.
  4. Yep...just got an email from my sister-in-law, who's also onboard. You beat me to it...
  5. You beat me to it! I had the exact same thought. Anyway, here are a few pics from '16. Always loved going under it. DW used to say, "how many times are you gonna take pictures of it?!" Guess not anymore...
  6. That's a good observation since lots of people do B2B on these Vision itineraries.
  7. But how cognizant of that would they have been? exactly. Maybe moreso during daylight
  8. True, but would your typical construction worker - especially any that are used to working on or around the bridge - have even paid any attention to the river traffic. I agree though - I would have made a run for it if possible. LONG bridge though. They were working in the middle area I believe (?) By car, sure. Totally unsuspecting anything though. "Just another day at the office", as it were.
  9. With all this speculation, maybe CC should get up a pool on when it'll all be done...could be more exciting than doing NCAA brackets. All joking aside, most tragic for the construction workers. No warning whatsoever of what was about to happen for them.
  10. Absolutely. Nothing can bring back lost lives. Bridges can be rebuilt.
  11. I'd say you're right. First they have to contract with a dredger and then get all the equipment there. Could be a pretty extended project. And then you've got currents and changing conditions to deal with.
  12. The Chief addressed this earlier jn post 218: "The resumption of cruising, just like commercial shipping, will not depend on rebuilding the bridge, only on removing the debris from the shipping channel, not even the outer arches which are outside the channel. But, yes, it will take 2-4 months to accomplish that. " Somewhere along the way it was mentioned that commercial traffic will likely resume before passenger cruising. It does seem likely as well as logical, but I was surprised that when were on the Mississippi back in October and were significantly delayed by barge traffic, the captain told us that passenger traffic (at least right then) had priority and so we got to go while the tows waited. Perhaps that was a unique situation for a given day and time.
  13. That's why cruises on Enchantment, Grandeur, and now the Vision have been so popular over the years.
  14. Again, very well said. I was thinking to re-read. Seems an appropriate time. Take a break from the 600-page Dune novel I'm engrossed in!
