  1. First Oasis class ship to have them. Harmony was built with the slides (water and dry). Only Allure is missing the purple monster and water slides in this class now.
  2. You can get non-fish food at Izumi just like a vegetarian can get non-beef food at Chops. Nice? That's personal. I've have tried eating at Izumi for the benefit of friends who enjoy sushi. I survived but it was not worth $35. It was a complete waste of $35 for my food tastes.
  3. Same footprint. Wonder is not wider than her prior sisters in a meaningful way. Some websites use the beam at the waterline versus the maximum beam above the waterline.
  4. Me neither but I respect that some things don't work for some people. I love that I can use deck 5 to bypass the esplanade and look down into it. All ships with a promenade desperately need a promenade bypass like Q class has that doesn't mean walking down the cabin hallway.
  5. There is always the chicken or beef teriyaki bowl. The presence of Izumi is why I rarely do the UDP on most ships. When you take away one venue on some ships that leaves two venues which gets old pretty quickly. I don't eat sushi so Izumi is not desirable to me. On everything but Oasis class there aren't enough specialty venues to make the UDP worthwhile if you don't eat sushi. I did manage my way through Chef's Table recently which is also meant for fish and seafood eaters. The chicken substitute from the Solarium Bistro mini plates was pretty bland.
  6. Some Izumi have hot rocks and chicken or beef are options - if you don't mind cooking your own food. Quantum class Izumi don't have hot rocks and Izumi on Adventure is purely sushi so it varies by ship.
  7. When new bookings first open it's not unusual for a few single supplement fares to be available in July and August. I've scored a few year after year but looking now they are gone.
  8. We all known that royal is not known for consistency. Just because one person had it one way is not an indication to declare that is absolutely guaranteed to be policy. Royal is best known for being inconsistent. No one knows why. Enjoy your solo cruise on YMMW of the Seas with a no-show 2nd and maybe you will get double or maybe you won't.
  9. All ships are subject motion depending on sea state and swell. Even Oasis was rocking last week. If the swell can move Oasis it will also move Quantum Ultra class. Things you'll miss on Odyssey - no Central Park, no Ice Skating venue, no Boardwalk, no zip line, one Flowrider Things you'll gain on Odyssey - iFly, North Star, Sea Plex, Playmakers, Solarium with wading pools, Two70° Harmony has Grease as it's primary theater show, Odyssey has The Effectors and The Book in Two70. Shows are personal. I've seen Grease enough times for a lifetime. The Effectors is a high tech show.
  10. Right next door to Chops so virtually the same. There is a door between the two venues that the crew would go back and forth through. I enjoyed it, great way to start the day. They did grumble about getting a latte, claimed they had no machine so they had to walk to cafe latte-tudes to get it. On Brilliance & Serenade they must have a machine closer as a latte was never a problem and quick.
  11. Book a bunch and let us know how your hack to 125% single supplement works out.
  12. In Nov. for my cruise Pins were above the threshold and we were banned from the SL. Breakfast was in Giovanni's while suites used Chops.
  13. This one is a little more granular. https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Misc/22006272_Fleet_Guide_2022_Update_LR.pdf

  15. It used to work that way. Not anymore. That's the whole point of this thread.
  16. I don't ever recall being offered a breakfast in specialty as a D+. How long ago was that?
  17. How is that confusing? The first sentence is pretty explanatory. A booking must be created and sail as a single occupancy, with a paid single guest supplement to cruise fare, to receive the extra single sailor points.
  18. In the case of my ex I'd have gladly checked in separately. In fact a different ship would have been even more ideal.
  19. The bottom line is that before the policy was ambiguous. It never clearly stated a solo in a no show scenario was guaranteed double points. Through feedback and reported guest experiences it appeared to be commonplace. I used it to vault myself from gold to platinum. Woohoo! (my one time) Just like the hack to have iMessage work for free on RoyalIQ ships was never a promised feature. Yet it worked for years. Now they have stated a firm position on the scenario. At least now we know.
  20. So it's YOUR fault the DL is overcrowded! JK...
  21. Next Thanksgiving I'm on a newer MSC ship. $700 all in with drink package and wifi. Royal same week? $2,400 for same cabin type on a 20 year old ship. Royal has no problem throwing me under the bus when a full ship charter comes knocking on their door. I have no problem sailing another line when it is the obvious thing to do.
  22. People complain the WJ breakfast has no variety. It does for me but to each their own. For me the Chops breakfast is a relaxed, civil way to start each day without having to "scrounge for my food" in the WJ. The venue and service is worth it to me and I have 4 or 5 go to choices I cycle through. I could probably carmelize bananas at home but there is no way I'm going to do that for breakfast when I'm half awake. Sitting in Chops sipping on my latte? Sure! What a great way to ponder what to do for the rest of the day.
  23. A lot depends on the ship and the venues available. I don't eat sushi so Izumi is generally off the table for me. Some Izumi offer hot rocks but if I wanted to cook my own food I'd stay home. For a Q class ship that immediately reduces the value proposition for the UDP. Generally speaking UDP is a lot of food. Most specialty lunches are very similar to dinner menus minus a few items. So the same big meal experience. When I have the UDP I'm often not hungry at dinner at all, even at 8pm, coming off the lunch time food coma. Chops has three entrees I usually enjoy but it's a lot of red meat. That's okay on a shorter cruise but on a longer cruise? I can't stand the chicken at Chops. I tried it one UDP cruise so I know better. 14 nights of specialty dining makes it not so special. It becomes the norm and the menu never changes. Groundhog day.
  24. Sometimes a solo GTY is offered. Sometimes it isn't offered but a phone call will make it happen. Sometimes a solo cannot book a GTY period.
