  1. if you log into you Princess account, it will under cruise history it will show how many cruise credits you wlll get for future cruises as well as past ones so you can know exactly how they are calculating it
  2. everyone was working so hard on the first cruise...I know the captain & crew wanted it to be good for the passengers, so I am glad to hear yours is starting with things working well, have a wonderful family adventure & thank you for sharing it with us.
  3. this just made me laugh & laugh...you know they feel that way, but to actually say it... thank you so much for sharing your cruise, it was delightful
  4. you should be able to switch days once you are onboard...we have in the past...you can look on the daily menus in the app (which will be more or less accurate) or possibly ask to see the menus in the MDR once you are on board if you are thinking about formal nights they should not be on port days
  5. have a lovely time! & don't believe the destination talk guy when he says it's too far to walk into Loreto.
  6. have a wonderful time, she should have most of the kinks worked out by then, everyone was trying so hard. Maybe they will still have the pink Cherry bear when you are on, I do believe Stanly & McKinley would like a sister Cherry.
  7. i prefer it for breakfast & usually do a variety of things for lunch & dinner in a dining room please (with my same waiters all cruise) I remember on one cruise when we were delayed getting on because they had so many in the Bon Voyage Experience...didn't get my embarkation day MDR lunch
  8. I didn't actually realize that that was Wilmington! The boundaries in this area are sometimes difficult to determine. I would feel comfortable staying in that area & would not expect problems walking during the day. There are actually few places I would walk in Pedro, Wilmington, LB alone after dark. The Denny's next to it is fine but tends to have very slow service & is no longer an inexpensive meal. Circle K at almost a mile away is about the only thing you could walk to but don't imagine that would be where one gets wine for a cruise. There is a Trader Joes about 4 miles away & an Albertsons closer than that. Depending on what you are thinking about eating (nice, seafood, ethnic, something fast & easy, it is possible that you would want to make 2 trips). You are quite close to the Jr College so there should be decent bus service within walking distance for a daytime shopping run & then Uber for food or you get delivery. Are you cruising from the Port of LA or LB?
  9. OK I have decided that every time a Princess ship is in town, they need to open the buffet & let me eat cruise food. That seems reasonable to me.
  10. Last thoughts Although it was far from a perfect cruise (I haven’t actually been on a perfect cruise, have you?), there were several highlights to this voyage. The first of these were the captain & crew. The crew on this cruise was probably the best I have experienced overall. One of the reasons I love cruising Princess is the wonderful crew members I have met, but this cruise it felt like they were all wonderful. There were many who were still struggling to learn their jobs, but I did not meet a single crew member who was rude, abrupt or didn’t seem to be trying to do their best for us. Captain Ravera is among the best I have sailed with. Unlike other cruises I have taken, he kept us informed in detail about what was happening during our voyage. He also did not pretend that there were no problems. Speaking with him, it was clear that he cared about both his crew & his passengers. I will remember the look of absolute delight on my sister’s face as she fed dozens of birds in La Paz. The perfect double rainbow with all four feet in the ocean after a sudden storm was another highlight. There are always delightful people to meet on any cruise & I am already wishing I was back where someone would plan & cook my meals for me. I know that there were people on this cruise who did not have a good experience. Not everyone had AC & plumbing that consistently worked. For some this was a minor inconvenience that did not ruin their cruise, but for others it did. I don’t think this was true for most on this cruise but that doesn’t excuse the fact that it was for some. Sometimes Princess is not good at dealing with &/or admitting problems. There are definitely things they could & should do better. Looking back on this cruise, it has not been my favorite for a number of reasons, but it was a good cruise nonetheless. Mexico to me is kind of a ‘I want to cruise’ voyage rather than I want to cruise there choice. At least this had Loreto & La Paz rather than just Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán &/or Ensenada. The confusion & uncertainty leading up to the cruise (both the will they or won’t they cancel & the lack of boarding info) meant that we started not really relaxed & well prepared. I also think a cruise south from LA in late September/October is not a choice I will make again as both of the ones I have taken have had problems with the weather being miserable and we have missed ports due to tropical storms. Thank you again for joining me on this journey. I hope it helpful &/or enjoyable. I appreciate everyone who has commented, shared their opinion or experiences, answered questions or just said hi. I am grateful that even when you had differences of opinion you have stayed kind. Thank you each for your part in making this a good live report. So now, I think this one is over. 11. we had almost signed up for that cruise, but we love the Island so decided to go on the later one, it is probably just as well as there were some (non-covid related) health issues in our family that would have been very bad if we had been cruising for so long, I guess we will stick with Hawai'i for now...
  12. maybe I am the only one who finds packaging from other countries fascinating, but when we first boarded these are the cans of diet coke & bottles of water from the bars--the water is from Cyprus & I think the coke is too
  13. you can check when you order & ask how many you have left but it doesn't show up in the app
  14. I never got any other receipt for the internet, no email like excursion or other purchases but it was pretty seamless logging in once I turned my phone on airplane mode & then turned the wifi back on
  15. posted menus & food pix from our recent sailing on my live...posts 297-360
  16. yes...this will not be a problem & shouldn't delay you much at all
  17. port guides are in the map but all 4 pages show on one screen so you can't see any detail...some have had success getting printed copies at the excursion or CS desks others have been told they don't do that anymore you can use the app for all the medallion things...ordering food drinks, crew chat (which by the way is often faster to get an answer that going to desk), schedule, dining reservations etc....without buying internet it uses the ships intranet which is free yes to wine bottles, we don't drink wine,, but some have said they also brought more on at ports without issues
  18. on 2 cruises our Medallions arrived before the email that they shipped came 😁
  19. when you order them on the app you have a choice of shipping or picking up
  20. I would suggest maybe reading some of the recent lives as people put a lot of detail that might be helpful...we have cruised twice in Jan/Feb when there were a lot more changes due to covid restrictions & then just recently when things seemed more back to normal...your specific questions have been answered, but here are a few other thoughts: boarding seems faster with the Medallions & having the doors open without swiping a card is nice watch your bill as it is easy for charges to be made to the wrong account with the Medallion there are still patters but they are only one page & no more piles of sales flyers photos are mostly viewed digitally not printed out unless you buy them there are still supply chain issues for things like wine & liquor & some food items staffing is a little thin & lots of new staff as some did not return...but still everyone is eager to help dine my way has replaced the old anytime or traditional dining & some love it while others hate it many things like port guides & ship maps are no longer available in printed form menus are changing as are the ways they make traditional menu items enrichment lectures & port talks are now available on your stateroom TV
  21. so sad for your loss. hoping you, your sons & grandson are close & can confort & support one another in this unbelievably difficult time.
