  1. do you think there will be many kids on that cruise? Its Western Caribbean... I thought because it was early December, people wouldn't take their kids out of school since they will have Christmas/New Years holiday - but now I am not sure. Its not that I dislike children but last year we cruised a New Years cruise and it was packed with children...and young people .. we couldn't even get seats around the pool.

The 1st part is right . Take the cruise and your fare ill be refunded 50% ..... the 2nd part, 50% off a future cruise isn't.

The 50% Future Cruise Credit off a cruise at a later date is a discount applied based on 50% of the fare paid for the cancelled Cuba cruise.

So if you paid $600 per person for the Cuba cruise, the Future Cruise Credit is $300 per person.

The way you worded this makes it sound like one could book a $1298 per person balcony and pay only $649 per person.

that isn't the way it was worded...I still think its 50% on this one and another 50% on a future cruise

The regular pools on NCL are very small.  The area gets very crowded.  I would recommend seeing if you can find a nice pool area at one of your ports of call or even pre-cruise or post-cruise hotel.  That is what we did on our Getaway cruise for pool time.

thanks for the picture --- omg, it is horrifying.... I am wondering if I need to pick a different ship.... Norwegian Sun is a smaller ship and has a bigger pool..

I went on a Western Caribbean cruise in December 2017 with Norwegian out of New Orleans. The weather was amazing, hot enough to enjoy the pool and beaches, but cool in the evening. It was the best cruise I've been on and the stops were great, and the ship wasn't packed. It was before most schools got out for winter break, so there were less kids on board. I wore shorts every day, but needed a sweater or jacket at night some nights. The water was a little rough at night a few times, but I'm pretty sensitive to that and it wasn't too bad.

Glad you mentioned the kids because I wondered about that... I figured people wouldn't take their kids out of school early December when they will be off at Christmas anyway...

we have done it a couple of times: the weather was mixed, but certainly, for the most part not bad and if I remember right the seas were calm. I do remember a little more rain than usual. This is true from late Nov until after the first of the year. It doesn't last long.

    thank you....

This is totally off topic...  being that you were just there maybe you can help me. 🙂  do they have "real" hair dryers on the ship?   Or should I bring my own?

    Thanks!

I have short, thin hair - hair dryer was fine for me...however, if you have long, thick hair bring your own hair dryer.

I'm a list freak.  Extremely organized. Borderline anal about it.  But it works!  Anyway, I create a spreadsheet and specify (1) what I'll wear during the day (swim suit or shorts & tank top at sea VS a casual cotton maxi dress for excursion days (I only do bus tours as I can't do a lot of walking) and (2) what I'll wear in the evening (dressy maxi dresses).  I make sure that I will wear everything twice. I send out my laundry to be done half-way through..  Enough workout sports bras, shorts, shirts, socks for half the cruise.  See attached.

I love the organization... what do all these maxi dresses look like?

Ok so whats included in the drink package? Its says free drinks, but then we get the option to upgrade to premium drink package as a perk. We drink Mich Ultra or any reg beer, frozen cocktails, and wine. Not fussy about what kind of wine, house wine is always fine with us. Do you get charged a gratuity on every drink, if you just stick with the free promo?

Also the sailing we are looking at stops at the private island. Does the drink promo work on the island?

    Thanks for any help

everything you want is in the free drink package - no gratuity - they don't even swipe your card for the drinks... which private island - one of them includes the drinks and one doesn't..

  9. loved your review! nice piece of art you won... loved all your pictures... just booked the Breakaway and was a little nervous because you thought it was on the bottom of your cruise list (along with the Epic) but I was on the Epic and loved it so hopefully will love the Breakaway also. Thanks for sharing so many details....

Wine Lovers is a silly thing, and an excuse to drink a lot of wine.  It was fun and worth doing once if you like silly plays and music and wine.

thanks for answering...so the cost was because we all get to drink wine? its not a dinner show?

  11. when we were just there, you could get on and off the ship all day/night... it didn't matter if you were going on a tour or walking into the square... but they did advise us to check off people to people ... why not do what the ship advises?

  12. I have 6 friends that booked with Norwegian Air for a cruise that started in Rome this week - their flight went out of Orlando -- when they got to the airport they found out their flight was canceled! They could not get another flight and had to cancel the cruise - 6 very disappointed people... so be careful.
