  1. So I guess in the 33 hours between chops and getting sick, your mother didn't touch or pick up anything, didn't go anywhere, didnt eat or drink anything, didnt talk to anyone, just stayed in her cabin in a state of hibernation?

That's how your so certain it was chops that got her sick right!

Sorry it happened. You're angry and annoyed that your vacation didnt go to plan and you want someone/something to blame....but I dont think its chops...

  2. Everyone always says contact the special needs department, but when it comes to adventure ocean, they cannot guarantee an age group move in advance, it is all down to the adventure ocean manager onboard.

At 9, yes they will probably move down a group for additional needs, but it does still depend on numbers onboard, but once onboard you need to go to ao (you dont have to go right away, whenever your ready), they'll ask you till fill out an additional needs from along with the registration form. When you do drop off they'll give you a dect phone or pager so they can contact you immediately for any questions, concerns or issues.

However, no age group move is ever guaranteed even with additional needs, although there is more understanding, however, if staff onboard feel kids will be better in their own age group, they'll move them back for the next session.

You didn't say what time of year/ship, but theres a chance those age groups could be combined anyway.

After working in both clubs (dcl and royal), even if your 9 year old can/can't be moved down, they will have much better supervision by staff that are able to communicate better to each other (staff to staff) on royal and you'll see the same staff (and kids) for the majority of sessions so everyone can build relationships and get a good understanding for each other (kids to kids, kids to staff and parents to staff). Disney theres so many staff and kids you rarely see the same kid/staff twice in a cruise lol

Good luck, have a great cruise!

Asking for my newbie cruise friends: do you have to request a teen compass, or does the room attendant just automatically bring it?

Your room attendant should bring one. But you can often pick one up in the terminal before you even board or outside the teen venue before you're allowed in your cabin.

It's usually just one teen compass for the whole cruise. Not one a day, sometime on longer cruises they'll be a second halfway through...

This is a great an example of why the site has turned to s**t of late.

When I first joined over 7 years ago this site was full of wonderful and helpful people who made the page enjoyable. Nowadays it seems to be riddled with narcie smart arse who love putting their two cents worth in even when the post has nothing to do with them.

No wonder other sites are growing in popularity whilst this one struggles 🙂

Sorry you didn't get the answer you wanted.

Thank you for proving your own point about smart arses...

You are welcome to go to the 'other sites' if you so wish! I guess they give you the answers you want to hear?

It was ok when you were telling people they were wrong but can't cope when some asks the same questions in reverse? 🤔 ok then...

Not being a smart arse, just asking where you got your numbers from as I like all the details when people are complaining so strongly as you are/were (as things often get missed out or twisted to try and prove a point)...but if you know something isn't quite right I can see why you're getting so defensive...

    Good luck with your efforts...

Its a wonder how the people who get offended by a question haven’t figured out there is a “Next unread topic” button as well.

It's a wonder how the people who get offended by an answer haven't figured out there is "search" button before they post!

    😂😂😂😂

You guys are killing me with three of the tamest responses on here being 'toxic'!

If this post hurts your feelings, dont go near a tipping thread!

The 3 replies are a good example of why people think this forum is a toxic place

If my 6 words answer is so offensive to anyone, I suggest they take a break from the internet.

I can add more words and pretty it up if you like....

"Dont worry, you are not starting a mass panic. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how much you like the DreamWorks experince, it is indeed true that the partnership is ending at the end of this month.

This is very much the truth and not a hoax.

Many have already reported on this and if you so wish you can do a search and have a look at other people's responses from when it was announced months ago. "

    That better for you?

I didn't think CC was an English class that requires essay answer as to not come across as a 'toxic place' 😂😂😂

That's great service indeed, thanks for sharing.  Where were you able to find the email address?  I have a similar request for our upcoming Independence cruise but I would be completely guessing at the abbreviation for the email address.

Got it from MJ (Liberty Concierge) when we were last on Vision.  I can tell some of them: MR for Mariner, NV for Navigator, LB for Liberty, VG for Voyager, FR for Freedom and RA for Radiance.  Hope those are right, it's not always logical.  Don't know what the big ships are.  But you can find that out from your Concierge on your next cruise, they have all of them

     Radiance is RD

  9. Well you asked if they'd be left on their own lol!

you're 5 year old may be moved up, but the 10 year old won't be moved into the 6-8 room (unless they combine the 6-8 and 9-11 groups, but if that happens they probably won't move the 5 year old up)...

Outside of AO, there is so much they can do together, especially on symphony!

Staff were sick and not quarantined

Where's your proof they had flu?

Crew showing symptoms are tested for flu.

If it comes back they have it they are quarantined for a week. Or 2 weeks if they have not had the flu jab.

I've had a stinking cold as a crew member but tested negative for flu, so was sent back to work.

Sorry to hijack the thread - but is there a minimum age of the laser tag?

    5.

5- 8 have to have an adult in the room (don't have to play if they don't want. Just be there)

8 to play with no adults around.

    There's also a minimum height (41" I think)

My point is the comment of "there are no employees on the ship that are addicts" is simply not true.  People can be addicts and skirt the system.  For example, a person is chosen for their urinalysis and then they realize they probably wont he picked again for quiet some time.  This is when they are able to binge.  Sure, they may eventually get caught, but they are there.

However I do recognize the strict rules and regulations with maritime law, along with the rules and regulations with the cruise lines themselves.  These measures certainly do weed out the fast majority of people who should not be involved in this business.  However it's not perfect, and bad people can slip through the cracks.

You can tell you've never worked on ships. Sure you can think it, but as an ex cm, there really are no addicts. In such a close environment, even if no test picked it up, someone else would. You'd mess up at work, or your roommate would talk, or youd get caught searching through guests stuff every day rather than doing your job... Everyone knows everything on a ship.

And anyway. Even if there were, it's so much easier to get what you want in port than to risk getting caught/wasting your time looking through every guests draw/bag/safe in the hope that they might have the drug that works for you...

  13. Ah yes. Because all crew members are drug addicicts and all stateroom hosts have to time to search through everyone stuff in every room they clean in the hope to find their hit! 😂

Why didn't you report it on the ship?

Was the phone call less than satisfactory purely  because you didn't get the response you wanted?

As you can't prove who it was, I say fire all the crew from that sailing just to be sure!

I feel sorry for Michael bayley and all the pathetic emails he has to trawl through everyday just to give someone an answer they already had from other people...

Thanks for another thread of laughs cc!

  14. Yes. Been on a vision class with 300+ kids on-board.

And nope. There is no where to expand it to!

Well without out taking over another venue that totally wouldn't work due to lack of amenities, kid sized bathrooms, kid safety and not enough AO staff.

It purely gets to one out then one in once ratio is hit (50 6-11 and 15, maybe 30, 3-5s) which can be within minutes of opening.

I've seen it fill up for the evening session through kids dinner and my time dining alone, once it 'opened' there were no spaces left to check kids in until someone left.

  15. You can call the special needs department, and they'll tell you what you want to hear,  but age group changes ultimately lie with the adventure ocean manager onbaord. And the special needs department rarely actually pass any info onto adventure ocean beforehand.

They'll try to be accommodating, especially if there's additional needs,  but I just want you to be prepared.

Especially if there's already a lot on the voyager age group or if it's regularly hitting ratio they'll say no. Once in,  they can also be moved back to their own age group if they don't fit in with age or any behaviours are an issue. Some managers just have a personal blanket ban on age group changes due to past experinces/issues.

Not trying to put a dapener on things. Just being realistic from personal experiences onbaord.

    Good luck.
