  1. I will also contact ABTA as I have a couple  of cruises booked, I guess the more people who complain then it's possible MSC would need to change the policy for cruisers who booked prior to change date, similar to the drinks package changes.

  2. I assume they have not got around to changing the websites in USA or Germany or other countries yet as their service cHrge wording is the same as U.K./Ireland was.

its not legal to put in a mandatory charge in UK no matter what T&Cs say but MSC are doing it and assume they will in all other countries as well.

interesting to see if Italian site changed yet.

  3. costa cruises is mandatory and NCL just add theirs to cruise price although you can apply for a refund Post cruise by filling in forms and sending them to head office although not sure how that works.

I assume we will find out how this mandatory charge applies to already booked cruises when people try to cancel in coming months as I don't think it's legal under EU law to introduce a compulsory new charge after you have booked.

  4. We saw them advertised but couldn't go in the dates shown as we had already booked flights elsewhere. Gutted we couldn't go and despite checking regularly not seen them since as was hoping other dates would appear!!

  5. We are looking at the Dubai to Yokohama repositioning cruise next year, with quite a few sea days we are wondering what sort of activities are there on these longer cruises? Do they have ballroom dance classes, talks, extra exercise classes etc.

any information from someone who has been on one would be appreciated.

  6. I have an existing MSC booking for 2020 and noticed that a U.K. online TA is quoting a price lower that we got from MSC even with VC discount.

anybody know if you can transfer an existing booking a get the new lower price from TA or would I need to cancel and rebook losing deposit, we are in UK.

  7. It took us about 45 minutes to get through customs as they individually check all passports and stamp them. I should think when it's busy it would take a lot longer.

there are also several checks leaving the airport and when we got to final one the guy on desk said we didn't have the correct entry stamp for when the cruise came back and virtually accused us of entering illegally!!

we showed him the itinerary and said on docking we walked out of port, and took a taxi to hotel for 3 days.

anyway he wouldn't have it and sent us to immigration rooms who looked at passports, itinerary and just stamped us through, added 20mins extra onto exit.

  8. MSC retain passports until last night for inspection if required by customs. They then hand you an immigration card at the ports which you show if required and hand back in when you board again, this was how it worked in UAE.
