Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Agreed, flying or 2X1 way rentals would be cheaper - but we winter in Florida, so we need a vehicle. Don't want to get back to Lauderdale then fly home to turn around and drive back to Florida! I know, first world problems!
  2. We are looking to take an extended cruise starting in December - but have to find reasonable and safe parking for our car. Any suggestions for reliable, safe and reasonable long-term parking around FLL or MIA?
  3. Anyone stayed in the Grand Suite on the Grand lately? The cabin looks lovely, but not sure it is worth the $$$$! There does not seem to be a lot of other perks that go along with it (ie. unlimited specialty dining) like you get on other cruise lines when staying in a top suite. Comments?
  4. Does it have to be Canadian? We have used several US based firms, many you can book directly and still get perks - if you call in, you typically get more. On our upcoming 10 day Celebrity Cruise we are getting a $1200 US OBC (refundable) - and we aren't even in a high-end suite. Some companies will also allow you to apply their OBC to the cost of the cruise upfront instead of receiving it onboard. We have never found these benefits with a Canadian TA - and certainly not booking directly.
  5. We are on the Anthem transatlantic in October - and many of the shore excursions on the website have been sold out since February (which I find hard to believe!). We haven't done a Royal cruise before - is this the norm? Should we expect to see more excursions become available once we are on the ship?
  6. Looking at the 2024 Grand Princess to Tahiti from LA for 33 nights...but not sure about the ship, given its age and not-so-great recent reviews - but the itinerary is amazing.... So, would you go for it or take a pass, given the ship. Would love to hear from some recent Grand travellers! We aren't fussy people, looking at a balcony or mini-suite - don't need a whole lot of bells and whistles! Appreciate the input!
  7. Our cruise tenders into Foynes - and most of the excursions look like they are out of Limerick. I cannot find much info on things to do in Foynes, or transportation to Limerick. Suggestions? Is it worth heading to Limerick?
  8. Taking a cruise in October, never been to Ireland before. For the ports mentioned above, would you recommend a guided excursion, or is there enough to see at the port to do this ourselves?
  9. Thought that too. However, given this isn't a new ship it seems odd that if it was an error that it hasn't been corrected by now. Looking at ship pics to see if anything odd stands out.
  10. Looked to find pics of the cabin, but no luck. It appears to be the only obstructed cabin (1E-2E) on either side of the ship near the front - which seems very odd. Trying to understand why it is categorized lower than other surrounding cabins which are all 3D-4D. Has anyone stayed in this cabin?
  11. We had the same problem, until I found this email address - MarketingOptOuts@ncl.com No snail mail since contacting them. Good luck
  12. Have you considered flying from DTW? Easy drive on the 401. You will already be in the US, clear customs at border. DTW is a great airport, way less chaotic than YYZ.
  13. Has anyone moved from one Celebrity ship to another on the same day in Fort Lauderdale? We will be moving from the Reflection to the Beyond. It isn't really a true b2b, but we weren't sure if you could depart later/get on sooner - or if we would be stuck killing time between the two.
  14. Any photos or comments on these mini suites on Emerald deck? Not sure how much obstruction there is from lifeboats. Comments appreciated!
  15. We loved this process - it has made us total Princess fans! Had specialty coffee delivered in the morning, snacks whenever and beverages all day long. We would also order additional bottles of water when placing an order, so we would have them available throughout the day. Now you do have to open the door, but that isn't much of a hardship. The app does tell you when your order is en route - which gives you more than sufficient time to get from your balcony to the door 🙂 Service was typically quick - no more than 10 minutes for most items - a bit more for busier times (ie. lunch). If there was a delay or a problem (ie. ran out of a certain type of alcohol), they would call to advise. We found that we enjoyed more time in our cabin because all the good stuff was brought right to us. It was also handy for delivery to other areas of the ship - lunch and beverages delivered while playing bingo! We never had to wait for service at a bar or try and track down wait staff. You will love it.
