  1. Actually, yes since the only other pin we received was Gold and they were waiting at our room when we checked in. I tend to use past experience to gauge what to expect.
  2. We are currently on NY-NY RT crossing. Paperwork in cabin showed our benefits as a Platinum member $80 wifi credit the 7th-13th and another $80 the 14th-21st. This seemed incorrect as we booked as a RT but a trip to the Purser's Desk assured us that we would indeed receive $80 per week.
  3. We are probably just a one-off but I had forgotten this was our first voyage as Platinum. No pins were waiting at check-in but I was able to ask for them at the purser's desk today. Seemed a strange oversight?
  4. That is beyond crazy! I have decided the more of this big world we see, the smaller it gets! You are going to love the rooms! We generally sail Cunard and that post was from our first time sailing with Celebrity. What I considered to be a throw away trip turned out to likely be my favorite ship. We've since booked two more voyages, both Solstice class. Have a blast!
  5. Whatever became of the doughnuts? Haven't run into them since pre-Covid. Not that I'm running... as you probably guessed from a question about doughnuts!
  6. Can someone flesh out what specialty coffee includes? Is it what is served at Sir Samuels, like lattes and whatnot or something else entirely?
  7. The ONLY roaring 20s outfit I ever wanted to wear but alas... dress code!
  8. Hi HG! Sorry we missed you! Let meet up on a voyage instead, it been too long! Check our signature for all the goings on. Enjoy the WC! Loves!
  9. We, too, cancelled our upgrade bid a few weeks ago. After the voyage posted a third price reduction we realized that our original fare plus the bid would have been more than new bookings were paying for a balcony. After calling Cunard to see if we could just pay the difference, they said no but kindly gave us a complimentary upgrade from a deluxe inside to oceanview. That was good enough for us so we withdrew the bid. Of course since then the fare has bounced back the other way so we are more than happy with our stateroom.
  10. We've only had the standard package. Receiving photos of my doggos back home was a no-go so everyone knows to communicate words only via text and photos via email. That worked for us
  11. Sailed QE to Alaska last year, are sailing again in August and booked yet again for next summer. Had a wonderful time and haven't read any negative comments about Cunard in Alaska. Perhaps you meant about a different line?
  12. We have done the BTS tour on QM2 (I believe in 2017). This past Thanksgiving a gentleman noticed the commemorative pin I was wearing and he said, 'Oh, I see you've been on my tour!'. After recognizing him as our previous guide I asked if they were ever going to do them again. He said they had just been speaking about it the day before and he felt confident they were going to start up again in the coming weeks. Since, I have not yet been back onboard or heard any comments about it here. I will be back onboard for a TA in July and hope to do the tour again then. Interested if anyone can confirm if they did indeed start back up.
  13. I've done this a couple of times per voyage. Always in line behind others getting the same. Seems to be a lot of paper wasted. Although if you find an error you probably wouldn't think it a waste so just from an environmental standpoint.
  14. I am also curious! This past Monday was the 80 day mark to my voyage in July. Did not receive an email but entered my info anyway and it took me to a page where I could make an offer on an upgrade. From my booked inside stateroom I was only offered Oceanviews and Balconies although all BC and Grills are all still available. Unsurprising the minimum possible bid for a balcony, if accepted, would be $100 less per person than if I just booked a balcony outright. So not much saving for giving up ability to choose your stateroom. But here's the silver lining. Once final payment passed this voyage has had two price drops. Neither significant enough to outweigh cancellation fees but enough to give me buyers remorse on my inside cabin choice. Bidding for an upgrade gave me an opportunity to make a different choice without having to cancel my whole booking and take the penalty. I fully expect my minimum bid to be accepted since it's so close to their regular price anyway and there are LOTS of available balconies shown on a dummy booking. I figure it's more a question of how long they take - honestly I was surprised it wasn't accepted immediately.
  15. We have been onboard when musicians have had CDs for sale. While we've never tipped extra money, we have always purchased their albums and asked for an autograph on the insert. I imagine the sale helps them and we have a great momento of our voyage.
  16. Summer TA's tend to be more expensive. There are Sailing Soon rates after final payment date where entire fare is due at booking assuming the voyage is not sold out. Cunard has recently introduced Bid For Upgrades available approximately 80 days before sailing on select voyages. Currently only for passengers who booked directly with Cunard. Jury is still out on this since it's so new.
  17. @techteach We have the same QM2 Bear, ship is named on the reverse of the jacket. Sounds like a good possibility there are bears carrying the name of the original Queen Mary. Now I can continue to plan. Thanks for everyone's help.
  18. I promise I've tried to answer my own question! I've been watching videos people have posted of the gift shops onboard Queen Mary in Long Beach. Now that she's reopening I am looking at overnighting in November. What is motivating me is the ability to add QM to the list of Cunard ships I've been on... with a corresponding Bear. In the screenshot attached, I can see Bears in the window. Does anyone know if these would be general Cunard Bears, specific QM Bears or something else entirely? Thanks for the insight of anyone who's been onboard.
  19. I've noticed the AI is often less expensive if choosing a higher fare. This example is an inside guaranteed vs. prime ocean view.
  20. Very unlikely Cunard is subscribing to channels independently. It is far more common and cost effective to subscribe to a package of channels - why I imagine CNN is not offered. While packaged channels can and do change it isn't often and only when the carrier and network can't agree on a price structure. Those disagreements are usually known and beside, someone onboard would have enjoyed being the first to point out the change. No, just me?
  21. I was on QM2 as 2021 and 2022 and Queen Elizabeth in 2022. These channels are spot on what was available on both ships at various times of the year.
  22. Does anyone have any insight into the TA side of this? It almost seems a way to reduce amounts paid as commission to TA's by creating an incentive to not use them. Just wondering.
  23. This is correct. One shareholder benefit per cabin.
  24. I watched this occur with some frequency at multiple bars. Shouldn't be a worry.
