  1. Thanks for your advice. I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos. While the fort and the walled city look very beautiful the one thing I absolutely can not stand is being hassled by street vendors. Not sure if we will even get off the ship. More research is needed.
  2. Thanks for your info. Sounds like staying in the air conditioned van was the way to go. Yes I have way more Christmas decorations than most people. excellent advise. Ever go to any the beaches?
  3. Im sure I will get criticized but I hate fireworks. I think they are a waste of money. Now I don’t mind seeing a professional display but after having a terrible experience as a child with fireworks I don’t want to be around them. I’ll be glad when the 4th is over. I’ve always hated that holiday. The only saving grace is that it’s Christmas in July so I usually watch Hallmark Christmas movies. Yeah I know I’m weird but hey!
  4. Good to know as we will be there in April too. Thanj you for being considerate of your loved ones. Our dogs hate fireworks too. I wish people would be more concerned of the fear fireworks cause in our pets.
  5. Poor Lizzy is scared to death of fireworks. She was outside and heard a big boom. She ran to the door shivering she wanted inside. We got some calming peanut butter to hopefully help here. Charlie is unfazed. Very nice land yacht. Enjoy but I hope you will still always cruise.
  6. Bourbon I’d like to see onboard Makers 46 Weller Special Reserve McKenna 10 yes BIB Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rabbit Hole Derringer Old Grand Dad BIB Barton 1792 Russels Reserve Elijah Craig Jefferson Ocean EHT Taylor ( I know I’m dreaming)
  7. I forget what photo you are referring too, I think it was someone’s collection. The bourbon selection on most Royal Caribbean ships is pitiful. I will say that when I was on Symphony last year they had Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Angels Envy and Old Forester. I was impressed. The schooner bar also had for a up charge Macallan Enigma which was awesome. Buffalo Trace is ok but I much prefer Weller Special Reserve. You will never see that on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
  8. Come join Linda and I on Beyond April 1-12th, 2024 for a 11 Night Southern Caribbean. Departs Fort Lauderdale Cruising Grand Cayman Cruising Cartagena Columbia Aruba (Overnight) Curacao Bonaire Cruising Cruising Fort Lauderdale
  9. Here is the Planter’s Punch recipe I use from the tiki drink invented by Don the Beachcomber in 1937.
  10. This is the recipe that I use for Planter’s Punch. The original tiki drink from Don the Beachcomber from 1937.
  11. I would get the Remy Martin 1738 Accord. It’s got great taste, smooth and fruity and is not too expensive $50-$60 range. Aged at least 12 years. More info here. https://www.remymartin.com/en-us/collection/1738-accord-royal/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GameDayCelebration&utm_term=USA+CS+cpc&utm_content=remy martin drinks&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnf-kBhCnARIsAFlg490KwTA4Dtt3uOqT8FyoAAt_ynTUG75pdmfdqjPZLLWu-KNDAXy45-kaAimxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Of course if money is no object I’d get Remy Martin XO about $260 or Louie XIII for about $3,000. I’ve had the Louie on board the ship for $150 a glass. It was amazing. Cheers!
  12. Looks like a great place. Love the name and the owner looks like a fun character. I’m glad you enjoyed the brandy. If you like brandy you should treat yourself to some cognac. I recommend getting one that is at least a VSOP or older. XO’s are my favorite but can get expensive.
  13. $19 That’s robbery. Woodford is good but that’s ridiculous.
  14. I agree I don’t consider it top shelf but I’m sure Royal does.
  15. Buffalo Trace is probably priced higher than say Jack Daniels as BT is considered top shelf. Personally I would never mix BT with cola. It’s too good of a bourbon. Try Buffalo Trace neat or on the rocks.
  16. Im more of a cognac guy than brandy. Though the only difference is the cognac is distilled from grapes in the champagne region of France. The main thing about Brandy that you should ask is “how long has it been aged?” A VSOP is aged longer than a VS and a XO is aged longer than a VSOP. I’m not a cigar smoker but I know a lot of people that like to smoke a cigar and drink a glass of brandy or cognac. The aromas will merge in the mouth, accentuating the flavours and scents of the cigar and spirit simultaneously. Have fun and let me know how you like it.
  17. Most mixed drinks range from $10-$14 with $14 being a specialty cocktail. Though I’ve never priced a bourbon and Coke it should be $10-$12 range.
  18. Thanks Debbie for your advice. It’s something to consider but I’m hopeful that another injection will help me get through the cruise.
