Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Currently on Eclipse which is one of the "trail ships" and there has been no evidence of vaping in the casino.
  2. It's all about how much data and how quick you're going to need it. Things like Downloading or up loading big files (like video) will challenge the vasic trarrif. If you're working on conference calls or streaming video like Netflix then you should upgrade. If you surfing and doing the odd email or message then the basic is sufficient for your needs.
  3. So, did you get your bags back? Are you going to finish the trip or leave us all hanging here in cyberspace?
  4. Well , I am 60 this year so maybe 30 years! Kids , life , love..... it's all takes its toll. More so in the last 10 dealing with moving up to the top on the family tree.. To be fair my doctor did reccomend I watched my drinking so I only knock them back if the bar has a mirror now... All the best from a bar in Spain. Hic
  5. We have one hour and 37 mins connection. Our tour operator has is on the 13:30 out of Vancouver arriving at 15:53 local time into Calgary and then the WS2 leaving at 17:30. As you say there are many flights from Vancouver to Calgary all of which have availability so seems odd that they would squeeze the connection when it seems sensible not to. Presumably it was to save a few dollars... More of an issue is the strikes at Gatwick now!!
  6. What was your routing home please? You said you missed a connection - is that where passengers and luggage parted? We flying Westjet ourselves , Gatwick to Calgary before our tour and Rockie Mountaineer before boarding the Eclipse on the 13th August. Home Vancouver to Calgary to Gatwick...
  7. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate that they tot up the bill in dollars and the final payment is due in US dollars but did they charge your card in US dollars (and Nationwide converted it to sterling with no fee) or did Celebrity know its a UK card and charge you in sterling directly exchanging the currency at their own rate? And did you see the "tick here box" when checking in that gave the option (or not its badly written) to have the currency conversion done/not done for you? That smacks of nickle and diming making money on the exchange rate. What I don't want is to present my UK Dollar card and they charge it in sterling meaning I pay for two currency exchanges. Cheers.
  8. As a Brit with a British card loaded with US dollars on a Alaska cruise will I be stiffed with some dynamic exchange rate and charged in pounds sterling or US dollars? I ask as when checking in there was some poorly written tick a box type statement talking about being charged in a "local currency". The question was ambiguous to say the least and (probably deliberately) confusing. Any Brit offered up a Wise or Revolut type preloaded US dollar card have any insight to this please?
  9. A couple of things come to mind.. (1) if you're staying in Vancouver before the cruise try to stay in a hotel that will take the luggage from the room straight to the bag drop area. The Pan Pacific is one hotel that does exactly this. (2) if you can't do that arrive by taxi straight to the underground area where the bag drop is rather than having to queue to take the lift down when arriving from the road level. Have a great trip...
  10. Thanks for taking the time to post this, very informative. I am on the Eclipse in 7 weeks doing the same trip.
  11. Can you charge your card to play in the casino and cash it out at the cage?
