I assume we tender in
Is there a fee for food and drinks?
Activities on the cay?
Price for renting snorkeling gear?
No, the ship docks. Food is included. Lots of activities.

I remember taking a look at those "cat 11"'s when we first sailed the Fantasy. What was startling the most to me were the tiny non private balconies, and hardly any additional rooms.
Such a stark difference to the Cat 12's on that ship.
But did make the leap to an 11 when we cruised the Spirit and Destiny class.

Sorry if this has been asked, but this thread is tough to search through. We're on the June 8 5-day cruise to Bermuda. Since this itinerary doesn't start for another couple of months, was there a similar itinerary last year? If so, can anyone point me toward any past reviews? Looking specifically for a cruise compass, even if it's old. Thanks!
Would a 5year old review be just as good while you're waiting? It's in my siggy below.

sunset in cozumel from my balcony on allure. The ship in the picture is carnival conquest backing away from their pier and about to block my view of the sunset.

Hi,
I was reading about FTTF, and it sounds like a good idea. Our ship leaves at 4 PM, but I would like to get on it as early as possible. I've also heard that boarding in Miami is a nightmare, so anything that would make it easier would be great. If I purchase FTTF am I really guaranteed early entry to the ship.
I guess it depends how long it takes you to earn $50. If it's one hour, is it worth a trade for an hour wait doing nothing.
If it takes you 5 hours, what's that worth to you?

Congrats!
We actually planned our daughters conception around our Hawaii cruise. DW was 5 months pregnant when we cruised across the Pacific, with her OBGYN saying the cruise during the mid trimester was actually a good idea.
If Carnival counted that cruise for her, she'd be platinum.

Wow! Lots of great new entries!

Nice pix (will read the review later).
Was 2 days worth it?

Only two ships have been reported to have open venues on embarkation day to date. Those are the Dream and the Miracle, and only when ships occupancy is above a certain threshold.
Breeze is new to the US. Let's see what it brings.

Leaving tomorrow on the Explorer! Awesome pictures! Thanks so much
Watched you sail out on the harbor webcam. Can't wait to hear about your ride!

Exactly. None of us know what the business aspect really is and how they come up with compensation amounts.
And those that are trying are wasting their time.
-
I think everyone is just trying to point out that unless the cruise line did something deliberate to in some way inconvenience you purposely, any compensation you happen to receive should be considered a bonus.
Sure. But why does one cruise losing a day get 20%, and another cruise losing a day get 50%?

Anyone who books a cruise during the hurricane season should realize the risks of a storm. Lots of time the cruise line will reroute a cruise so that you still get your cruise in but when it is something this serious, what would you expect? And why should the cruise line be held responsible? These people were treated very well, considering. The Carnival Pride cruise out of Baltimore was cancelled as passengers were arriving to board. The Coast Guard closed Chesapeake Bay to all traffic. The Pride had no choice in the matter.
Storms cann occur any time of year.
And being that hurricane seqason is from June 1st to November 30th, and Winter is from December to March, are you suggesting people only sail April and May?

How did a post about comparing the inconsistancy of refunds go to name calling and contract quotes to telling people they deserve nothing?

20% is a pretty good offer if it wasn't in response to a specific complaint.
On our hurricane cruise (Jubilee out of Galveston), our two ports in Mexico got cancelled and we ended up in New Orleans instead for a few hours after several diversions.
Carnival gave us only $20 per person on our accounts for the inconvenience. Granted, that was 2002, so maybe it'd be a little more, but certainly not a 20% future discount.
I got 20% just for complaining the Speakeasy was closed the entire week to adults for a group of kids. And I sailed a 7 day cruise to all my ports.
-
actually the cruiseline doesn't OWE you anything.......
Nope.
And we don't owe them anything either.
-
Just curious what other ships were offering.
We went from a 6 night to 5 night and 3 days in port to one.
We got ....
just shy of $17 back in port fees from a change in itinerary. Instead of two days in Nassau and one in Freeport we got 7 hours in Nassau.
20% off another 2 to 6 night cruise that must be taken by October 2014
one day credit of gratuities
one day cruise fare refunded back to us within a couple of weeks to the credit card on file
That's a bit less than adequate! That's simply the bare minimum.

I thought I read somewhere that if you eat at the Steakhouse on the first night, you get a free bottle of wine. Any truth? I hope so:rolleyes:
Yes
