  1. if you are interested and can afford it a bush plane or helicopter ride at one of the ports can be fabulous. our sons took a floatplane, landed on a lake and did something there - can't remember what - maybe bear watching - and they loved it.

  2. I hope everybody is healthy and able to travel.

Next time you might want to think about getting one of those $100 airline credit cards. Most of them have $10,000 of travel insurance plus extra perks like a free checked bag and early boarding. Just a thought.

  3. The person who posted that credit card insurance does not cover pre existing conditions is correct. However, it sounds like the daughter's potential broken leg occurred after the cruise was booked so it would be covered.

Our granddaughter had a ruptured appendix 3 weeks before our cruise and was unable to go. Our credit card insurance reimbursed us for her and her parent's fares since they needed to stay home and care for her.

  4. If you booked your cruise on a credit card that offers travel insurance, you can make a claim if you are unable to go.

We have a Chase explorer card which costs us $100 a year. recently 3 members of our family had to cancel and we received a total refund for their fares.

Many airline mileage cards have up to $10,000 in travel insurance.

We have a separate yearly medical policy from Geo Blue.

  5. I also would take into consideration whether or not the other family can easily afford the fare. If they can, I would charge them the fare for one person. If it's a problem, I would charge them $0 to $500, depending on what you think they can afford.
