There is one cruise on the Noordam in April I think that goes from Honolulu to Vancouver. You could fly to Maui, do a land trip on the islands, fly to Honolulu, take the ship to Vancouver, and then fly home.

If your kids would use a second pair of tan pants in everyday life, I would buy them before the cruise.
If not, I would bring the one pair each and send them out to be laundered if necessary.

If there are just the 2 of you a hotel is fine.
If you are a family with kids you might prefer a condo. There are many condos mixed in among the hotels listed.

I think a good ta would be more likely to snag the suite if you decide that is what you want.
I would discuss it with each family and see how they felt before I made the decision to book it.

Maybe you could find a travel agent in your area who could book it for you?

We just take along a roll of packing tape from the dollar store, borrow a pair of scissors from the hotel front desk, reinforce the tags the morning of the cruise, and leave the leftover tape at the hotel. Cheap and easy.

I did not take this tour - we took a cab - but we were at el yunque for several hours which gave us some time to go hiking. There are some wonderful trails and we could have spent the whole day there - next time!

I would guess you have a 50 50 chance of making your flight. Are you a gambler?

If you booked the cruise on a credit card with travel insurance, you can make a claim.

I don't use a lanyard. I always have a small purse with me with my room card, eye drops, Kleenex, chap stick and my camera. Can fit all that in a lanyard - lol!

if you are interested and can afford it a bush plane or helicopter ride at one of the ports can be fabulous. our sons took a floatplane, landed on a lake and did something there - can't remember what - maybe bear watching - and they loved it.

I hope everybody is healthy and able to travel.
Next time you might want to think about getting one of those $100 airline credit cards. Most of them have $10,000 of travel insurance plus extra perks like a free checked bag and early boarding. Just a thought.

The person who posted that credit card insurance does not cover pre existing conditions is correct. However, it sounds like the daughter's potential broken leg occurred after the cruise was booked so it would be covered.
Our granddaughter had a ruptured appendix 3 weeks before our cruise and was unable to go. Our credit card insurance reimbursed us for her and her parent's fares since they needed to stay home and care for her.

If you booked your cruise on a credit card that offers travel insurance, you can make a claim if you are unable to go.
We have a Chase explorer card which costs us $100 a year. recently 3 members of our family had to cancel and we received a total refund for their fares.
Many airline mileage cards have up to $10,000 in travel insurance.
We have a separate yearly medical policy from Geo Blue.

If you fly in the day of your cruise, I would land before noon and have a prearranged ride to the port.
If you have extra time, you could check in for your cruise and then stroll around the port city.

Yes, be sure you bring extra insulin. When our diabetic granddaughter was visiting, DH accidentally dropped her bottle of insulin and it broke. It took all kinds of phone calls to get it replaced - and this was on land in the USA. Be prepared!

You might consider a rental car for the day. Throw the suitcases into the trunk and take the kids someplace fun for a few hours.

I must be doing it wrong. The hubs and I go through a full tube of toothpaste in two weeks.
Wow! That's about 25 tubes in a year!

From what I've read on here, 90% of the time it will not be a problem if you disembark early and take all of your luggage with you.
Sounds great, unless you are in the unlucky 10% where there is some sort of unexpected delay.
Even with odds this good, I would prefer a flight after 11 but it's a personal choice.

I would add, I cannot imagine the invited friend's parents not asking how much it would be for their daughter.

I also would take into consideration whether or not the other family can easily afford the fare. If they can, I would charge them the fare for one person. If it's a problem, I would charge them $0 to $500, depending on what you think they can afford.

I have notice that when some picky eaters are presented with a lot of interesting choices, they sometimes decide to try something new.

I love "seasoned" traveler. It makes me think of someone being salted and peppered.

We rented a golf cart and drove all over the island. Not exciting but we had a good time.
Remember, the weather in January can be overcast and chilly so take that into consideration.

If I were in your circumstances I would be somewhat concerned as well.
I have read that ships that have extra cleaning are less likely to harbor noro. I have also read that some ships seem to have several weeks of noro before it's contained.
I would certainly be extra vigilant and take extra precautions.
