  1. Shame, the Airlie situation is not a good one for you. Good luck with the TA. I would have thought their would have been more of a choice on that cruise seeing the itinerary is so different.
  2. Looks like the 30th January cruise will spend Wed 2nd Feb docked in Sydney OPT and then move at around 8pm to the Athol Bay anchorage and it will be shuttle from there.

  4. Quantum of the Seas_ an update to your itinerary.eml
  5. Looking forward to an overnighter in Sydney and plenty to keep us occupied there. Good excuse to visit Eden on another cruise.😁
  6. Just received a change to the itinerary for Quantum cruise 30th Jan 2023 /Sydney/Eden/ Tas/ Bris. Owing to pier construction being delayed at Eden Quantum of the Seas will not be visiting Eden and will be doing an overnighter at Sydney arriving 6.35am Wed 2nd Feb until 6.45 pm Thurs 3rd.
  7. Have a great time Les, love the view. I am green with envy. Cheers John.
  8. Same here pre-booked a shuttle and waited nearly an hour for it to turn up. Not convenient for some but we took the train the next time and it worked out well for us, we travelled the day before the cruise and the hotel was near the OPT.
  9. Don't blame you young fellow but this old fellow would love to know about all the good times you had on board when you get back. Have a great time 😄
  10. Glad it has helped. Insurance is definitely not the most exciting part of cruising. As far as I understand I think most cruise lines will give you a future cruise credit if you catch covid within 10 days of your cruise embarkation day. I think I will be doing the same as you, isolating at home before our cruise. Enjoy your cruise.
  11. Received an email from Carnival today regarding my rebooking from the Spirit to the Carnival Luminosa. They have allocated my cabin and it is on the same deck and two cabins down from the same position I booked on the Spirit, happy with that. Now to start working out what to spend my $1000 OBC they gave me as a sweetener for the swap. As I read some where, you can only buy so many watches 😂 Not to worry shore excursions will eat up a good bit of that and my Wife & Daughter will make sure there will be none left.😉
  12. Used them all the time pre covid days for our flights from Sydney to Qld. Always booked our flights late afternoon so we could wander around Sydney without the hassle of luggage. Scary the first time because you don't see your luggage once you drop it at OPT until you arrive at your destination. Never had any problems. We booked them on line before our cruise that way when you approach them at the OPT they already have all your details and flight numbers. Saves time and the hassle of getting all your paperwork out at the desk.
  13. I hope this will be of interest. I must praise 1 Cover for their quick reply to my questions regarding evac & covid. I only sent the email yesterday and received this reply today. I find reading the PDS on insurance applications sends me to sleep but thanks to 1 Cover this is what I was looking for. If you're going on an ocean or river cruise in or around Australia (not stopping at any international ports), you'll need to purchase the Domestic policy and add cruise pack to be covered for ship-to-shore medical evacuation as well as claimable medical expenses on board the cruise. Australian government has made it illegal for travel insurance providers to reimburse medical expenditures incurred within Australia for Australian residents and citizens who are eligible for medicare. If your domestic medical expenses are not covered by medicare or private health insurance, you may be responsible for paying them out of pocket. Once you have been transported to the nearest medical facility OR have been transported to an ambulance to reach the nearest medical facility. As an ambulance is considered a domestic medical expense, insurance with us does not cover the cost of one. In relation to COVID 19, we will cover you for your COVID 19 medical expenses onboard the cruise and also cover you for medical evacuation. Not you need to have a positive diagnosis of the Coronavirus (meaning COVID-19 or SARS-COV-2 or any mutation or variation of these) by a qualified medical practitioner on board the cruise and our Emergency Team (First Assistance) must be consulted for any treatment/evacuation received that is more than $1000. Friendly reminder that COVID 19 occurrences such as not being permitted to board the ship, being taken off the cruise to be isolated, quarantined, or simply being told to stay in your stateroom are not claimable events. Only medical expenses onboard the cruise (plus evacuation to shore) are covered as per the terms of the policy, Please let us know if there is anything else we can clarify for you.
  14. All I can say is good on you 😄. Enjoy the years you have until you reach the age of 80 when every where you apply for something you are penalised, I mean what a cheek Insurance & Go wont insure you when you turn 80 unless you have some one younger with you to wipe your bum.😂
  15. Unfortunately 1 Cover states that 80yrs and over automatically includes the $3000 excess. I guess you are still a youngster 😊
  16. At this stage looking at Domestic Australian cruise.
  17. They are certainly confusing. I did put in for a quote For a Domestic cruise and noticed that a cruise pack does include evacuation but still unsure about the Covid coverage. I have sent off an email to try and clarify the situation. There is no doubt that at my age I will have a $ 3000 excess as will the wife. They also will not cover me for international cruises ( age related ) punishment for getting older.😪
  18. PDS are a real pain. I think they designed to confuse. This from 1 Cover. If your query is in relation to the Coronavirus, please be aware that our policies have a general exclusion for pandemics and epidemics. This means that claims relating to the COVID-19 are unlikely to be covered. However, you are still entitled to lodge a claim, and all claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Yeh right, lodge a claim and be assessed !!!
  19. In my quest to find insurance and reading many PDS I have noticed that the ones that cover repatriation / evacuation from a cruise ship will not cover covid related /pandemic emergency. They will cover any illness or accident emergency. At my age I would have liked to know that was available. Have you guys seen insurance that will cover evac with covid ? I know Royal Caribbean stated they would look after any passenger that caught covid at their cost but I can not see where they mention if someone requires evac for a covid emergency.
  20. Travel Insurance for Seniors - Tips for Buying ... - InsureandGo https://www.insureandgo.com.au › travel-tips › travel-i... InsureandGo travel insurance covers senior travellers up to the age of 100. All medical conditions considered. 90 Activities free. Call us or get a quote. Maybe only for non cruise insurance.
  21. Love that Insurance and Go when I try to get a quote on line wont let me go any further unless I put another person on the application that is younger than us oldies and even when you do that they wont Quote you unless you phone up, does this mean if my daughter comes she will have to hold our hands where ever we go and maybe feed us with a spoon !!!!! Insurance and Go even states they will insure you up to the age of 100. 😡
  22. Its great that you found each other after both of your tragic loss. Your lovely photo shows two very happy people. I like the live every day as if it was your last, we should all practice that. Thank you for mentioning in an earlier post the 1Cover domestic policy with the $3000 excess on a domestic cruise when over 80yrs, it is ideal for my situation for my Jan domestic cruise. It makes the policy cost very reasonable. I can handle that excess if I needed to claim over that ( hopefully not ). Anything under that I would have the funds to cover it anyway. I wish they did that on International cover. All companies should give you the choice of that excess for the over 80s I am sure for many it would be a winner. Thank you for your kind words regarding my wife and I and the same to you. 🙂
  23. That is exactly my way of thinking. Medibank ( Zurich insurance ) is $1.628 medical only. Australian post ( also Zurich ) comprehensive without cancelation cover $1628 with cancelation cover of $6000 comes in at $2389. Cruise Medivac cover is my main concern and a policy must contain that.
  24. Thanks Les, must have been tough on the day of your 50th anniv. Just had our 60th wedding anniv in August and was grateful to get to it this year. You must have many happy memories from your traveling days. Very very pleased when I read your post announcing your Sept cruise on the Coral, need to keep those down in the dumps away. I am sure you will have great time with some of the CC members on there . Same to you stay safe. looking forward to hearing a report after your cruise. Maybe you can book another while on board.😊
