  2. I would guess the picture is supposed to be looking from rear of deck two. The ceiling forming the floor of the deck three section. If it's accurate it probably wouldn't include any boxes. It may be a design to get maximum capacity.
  3. You seem to have the themes covered with what's in the photo. Of course nobody will notice if you wear a dress twice, and I believe your 21 days is effectively 3 x 7 days, so many of your fellow passengers will change each week anyway. (just realised I'm repeating Hattie's comment) Most folk probably find it amusing, but one of our main reasons for a 2 week B2B Transatlantic from Southampton is for my wife to be able to wear as many outfits from her wardrobe as possible. We have the luxury of being able to take quite a large amount of luggage on economy flights from Nice to Heathrow and are fit enough to carry it all. Have a great trip!

  6. I certainly use my phone to access internet onboard but can do everything I need or want with a passable internet connection. Any additional information that Cunard might provide that I might find useful could easily be added to the My Voyage facility. There is a female vlogger who travels alone who has posted a video on YT with concerns about security with Medallion. She claims to have been the subject of unwanted attention from another passenger who she claims tracked her cabin through the app, amongst other issues. Perhaps there are privacy settings she hadn't made that could have prevented that. Setting up a room-cam might alert me if this young lady jumps somewhere we'd prefer she didn't go and starts a massacre of the portraits! 🤣 Although there's not much point unless I have a way of scaring her down. Again an internet connection is all that's required for that.
  7. It would be useful to access photos on My Voyage. We agree a voyage price for all photos taken at start. It would be nice to download them as we go along rather than waiting until end.
  8. Since we were on board QM2 in June 2022 Starlink has been introduced and the daily program is now available on My Voyage. I don't expect Starlink to be perfect but it seems to have reasonable coverage on the North Atlantic, which is all we need. It might be handy if our lunch and dinner menus were on My Voyage but we didn't find it a problem choosing at the table. Our waiters usually had the dinner menu for us at lunchtime, so we could have taken photos of them. I can't think of any other uses we would want from a proper app. We don't want drinks to follow us around the ship. We don't want the cabin door to open as we approach. We don't need to find each other, we're never more than a few yards apart. We do carry my phone around. It acts as a hub that backs up pics from the camera and in turn copies them to a cloud drive, and lets me access anything I would normally get on my home desktop and post social media and anything else internet related.
  9. Have you called Cunard and explained your problem? Perhaps they would waitlist you in case a QG cabin is cancelled before you sail.
  10. We were out Friday evening and my wife decided to make it a Coco-Canel themed evening. Photo could have been clearer but was difficult to get Coco to look at camera.
  11. Good luck anyway. Don't know much about the commercial side of it and can appreciate reservations in subsidising an international conglomerate, but seems a bit short sighted to allow production of such a strategically important commodity to be eliminated.
  12. I assume that's about a recent big news story. Not that it's any of my/our business, but is what's happening there a problem for you?
  13. Many years ago before the internet and direct booking was so established, specialist agents would compete for business on ceefax and teletext by offering discounts of up to around 11%. Most people probably ended up paying same price. We got a very good deal on a Panama Transit including flights from/to Glasgow. The folk in next cabin had paid a bit more than us but got more OBC so we ended up paying exactly the same. I don't think that exists these days. But it has been established by various comparisons that folk in North America are paying much more than UK guests and that may explain why US agents can offer discounts.

  15. I'd be surprised if you had any problem. On Sun Princess in July 1998 it was grey and a bit choppy leaving Vancouver but no real movement on the ship. Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Glacier Bay were all smooth. Crossed Gulf of Alaska to College Fjord overnight. Next morning there were folk saying it had been a bit rough through the night. We had no idea what they were talking about, we didn't feel anything.

  17. The only flight I see today from LHR at that time is with AA. Their recommended arrival times for check in outside the U.S. are at least 3 hours. Minimum to check bags or check in at the airport outside the U.S. at least 60 minutes. I'd opt for self disembarkation and book a taxi for 7.30am, ensuring the taxi company will adjust that time in event of a late arrival. Google taxis Southampton and you'll get lists of cab companies. I'd book Aero Taxis, who we have used before or West Quay. They are two of the bigger operators. Or use one of the exec hire companies recommended by others.
  18. I was going to post that it was a shame that advice wasn't sought on this forum before the Dubai to Southampton trip was cancelled. However I note that it was asked on November 14th last year, The first two responses clearly warned that the deposit would be lost. Perhaps future responses to such questions should be in bold and underlined; DO NOT CANCEL!!! If it's your health/bereavement or other problem, fine go ahead and cancel if you can't make the trip. If it's something around the world you have no control over it's Cunard's problem. Sit tight don't do anything until they inform of their intentions. If their proposals are unreasonable you will have legal rights to obtain a refund.

If we were on QM2, no matter what the itinerary was, we wouldn't be leaving the ship unless required to by immigration rules or there was something in that particular port we wanted to buy and couldn't order online. There is too much to do onboard, and we don't do shows or enrichment lectures. My wife has felt a little off colour on a few rough North Sea and Channel crossings. In a force 10 gale travelling overnight from Zeebrugge to Felixstowe in October 1989, in the smallest imaginable inside cabin, on a small converted freight ferry, was actually sick. It was probably the most uncomfortable night I've ever spent on a ship and I had to drive for several hours the next morning. I cannot imagine any conditions in which she would feel ill on QM2.
  20. I feel sorry for the poster who elected to cancel and I hope they eventually get a resolution to their satisfaction. But I just can't understand the logic of cancelling a booking knowing the deposit is not refundable, unless there was some other personal reason that would have forced us to cancel anyway. Cunard would have been responsible for passengers safety whatever happened in any part of the world. I would have paid up and waited to see what Cunard did. If Cunard then cancelled or changed the itinerary in some way that the trip was no longer possible for us, they would have been obliged to refund. During the pandemic we didn't consider cancelling our Cunard bookings. Final payment was due when it was unlikely that the crossings would take place but hadn't been officially cancelled. We waited for them to cancel and ended up with nearly 40% more FCC than we had originally paid.
  21. Thanks. Would never have thought of it. We have hydraulic strut storage beds I designed and built myself. They are wood almost to the floor as fabrics would encourage cats to scratch. We just don't let our toes face towards the bed.
  22. Would you tell us why? Genuinely interested as I can't think of a reason. There are two under the bed in this photo. An identically sized blue behind the red. These are 66cm high medium cases. I think we could have got 10 of them under the beds. Six one side and four the other, due to the box of spare linen the stewardess had at other side. Next time we're taking a 78cm with the red 66cm. They will then nest and if a variety of sizes were taken you could probably get fourteen or more under the beds..
  23. Yes, I wouldn't have expected them to change. I think they are only shown on page 4 of the main wine list, unless you've seen them elsewhere? What I would like to know is if the 75ml glasses qualify for the 20% discount on the drinks package? I don't think anyone has asked about that onboard yet. Theoretically they should as the T&Cs state drinks above $13.50 and some bottles of wine. I'll find out for myself when we next sail.
  24. I recently watched a video from late July 2023, which included shots of bar menus. Those where I could easily identify the wine by glass prices were from Commodore Club, and I've modified those from an older menu in the attachment. Sparkling wines by the glass appear to have been reduced from 150ml to 125ml. Small glasses of still wine are listed as 175ml, where they were previously 150ml. Some of the prices for 250ml glasses have been slightly reduced. The Chablis, Whispering Angel, Chianti and Rioja, which would be amongst our favoured wines have all been increased above the $13.50 drinks package limit. I assume the same measures and prices are applied in other venues where same wines are offered. Spirit measures appear to have been reduced to 25ml and 50ml rather than 1oz and 2oz, which are closer to 30ml and 60ml. QM2 Commodore Club wine by glass late July 2023.docx
  25. It doesn't really bother me who does it. But from Cunard's point of view; I imagine their first choice would be the Queen and hope that her husband was free to accompany her that day.
