  1. OK, you win. A nation with over 300,000,000 people doesn't have more vacation destinations than a country with less than 50,000,000.

Silly me, and I thought vacation destination was self-obvious.

Yes, embrace the mantle of victimhood. Far better than admitting YOUR snarky comment was wrong.

  2. a) it is a public message board so I'll respond to whatever I want

    b) a guy says that Canada doesn't have as many vacation destinations as the US, an objectively factual statement, and you say he doesn't know Canada - implying that he is wrong.

I point out that he is factually correct, and adduce evidence.

So, just what WAS your point?

Feel free to 'school' me - if you can.

I’ll just let you have the last word. It’s obviously REAL important to your sense of .... worth .... or manhood .... or something.

    Pffffft.

  3. You don't know much about the US, do you, if you think there are anything like the number of vacation destinations in Canada as the US. And even more so for Aussies. The US hospitality industry has roughly 16 million employees. That is about 45% of Canada's total population and 67% of Australia's.

Canada and Australia are wonderful places but that has nothing to do with number and diversity of vacation destinations.

    Don’t try to school me.

    You totally missed the point.

And anyway, my comment was directed at someone else, not you.

  4. Elaine... shhhhh, we don't want to let our secrets out I love my country just the way it is :D;p

I live in wine country. :bottle-pop: For the first time ever my son had to find a back way to my home today b/c the traffic coming into our little town was so busy. It took him an extra 15 minutes to get here, horrors, lol. :D

    oh......gotcha.

I’m an expat and have been living close to Charleston SC for 25 years. It’s one of most visited cities in the US. Whenever I can, l let people know that Charleston is horrible during the summer, crowded, hot, humid, overhyped, anything to discourage people from visiting here. Sshhhh.

  5. I am not mocking you, just curious too. Why would you do that when at home? Why not simply connect the tablet (Ipad) to the internet through your router's wifi connection and not though your phone's "hotspot" service? Just trying to understand what the advantage is of having the phone in the middle of that connection.

This is why I sometimes do this. I can connect both my phone and iPad to the WiFi at home. The phone will have a strong signal: three waves, but the iPad might show only one or two waves and web pages will be slooooooow to load on the pad while they load quickly on the phone. So I started using the phone as a hotspot to connect the pad to, as it can give a stronger connection.

I can’t do this a lot because sprint has a monthly hotspot quota, but it has helped me in the past.

Edited: I’m guessing this has something to do with available bandwidth???????

  6. We were on the Dawn out of Boston to Bermuda in October 2016. We had two hurricanes heading to Bermuda. We docked on Sunday early. We were supposed to leave Bermuda Tuesday 5:30pm. Woke up Tuesday to captain saying we were leaving ASAP. Hurricanes coming. The ride out of Bermuda was very very rough. Worst I have cruised through. Quite an adventure! The waves at horseshoe bay were incredible. The best fun riding them ever.

That dies sound like an adventure. Hurricane season is one of my favourite times of the year.

  7. Why can’t you connect one device (phone) to your internet and use the phone as a hotspot and connect another device (iPad) to that.

Sorry I’m not really all that savvy and this is probably way too simple, so please don’t mock me. I’m just curious about this cuz I do this at home with my phone connected to WiFi.

  8. My perks are free for me. I wont book if I cannot select my cabin so I cannot ever use the SailAway rate. I have to select the higher cabin fare regardless of whether or not it comes with perks. However I am happy to accept some discounted cruise excursions and Internet since that’s less money I have to spend and is free to me.

  9. I hang my nightwear on the hook on the bathroom door to air out. I would never leave it on the bed and I would be livid if the cabin steward touched my nightwear.

  11. Yes to water, and coffee like everyone else. No to bottled water and specialty coffee. Yes to soda, not aware of any cans available. When they increased the allowance from $12 to $15 they took away many options, including mid level liquors and upgraded wine by the glass. All beers are covered.

Here's an overview of the changes.

in 2016, Norwegian “enhanced” their drink package from $12per drink to $15 per drink, but the new drink package has been anything but anenhancement, it has actually been somewhat of a disappointment in a few areas.

Several enjoyable mid-range wines were removed from the “bythe glass” wine list, because Norwegian doesn’t want to pay the slightly highercost associated with their new $15 “benefit”. The only wines remaining by theglass are very low entry level wines. Norwegian doesn’t even offer a list of“upgrades” or “higher priced” wines by the glass, even if you were interestedin paying a few dollars more per glass. RC by contract, boasts a substantiallylarger wine list by the glass within their $12/$13 allowance, and approximatelytwenty upscale wines at a higher cost per glass

In the area of bourbons, we also saw a major cutback. A Manhattan made with Makers Mark was $11.95in 2016 prior to the change in the drink package and was covered completely bythe $12 drink package allowance. At that time Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve and few other bourbons were $1-3more per drink, very reasonable. Today, after the new $15 drink package“enhancement”, the only bourbon available that’s “included” in the drinkpackage is very low end bulleit bourbon. The new price for a Makers Mark Manhattan on Norwegian is $18.95, higherthan most restaurants in Manhattan NY charge.

When it comes to bringing unopened bottles of wine on board, they want to confiscate your bottles and charge you a $15 corkage fee even ifyou have the drink package. Ridiculous.

Norwegian now has the highest cost drink package in theindustry, with the lowest value in the industry; particularly for wine drinkers.

So I’m guessing you won’t be cruising on Norwegian any more??
