  1. Are Cruising Ducks back?? I have a bunch that were going with me on a Carnival cruise in April 2020 that was cancelled due to Covid. I would love to bring them on the Sapphire in January !!
  2. Sailing on the Sapphire Princess in January! Question: Is there (retractable) clothesline in the shower? Last time I sailed with Princess was 2003 to Alaska so this thread is great for me to learn about the ship and the way Princess does things. Any other tips/insider secrets would be appreciated! Thank you!
  3. I'm so confused. This "shortened" list only goes to end of 2022. So it is possible that the others in 2023 are still on The Enhanced Guidelines List? We are on the 20Jan 2023 Antarctica cruise on the Sapphire Princess and got an email on Tuesday saying we were on an Enhanced Guidelines Voyage and would need testing prior to boarding. I sincerely HOPE that they dispense with this testing nonsense by 2023 !
  4. I propped my iphone in a shoe! That way, I and the proctor had access to rear and forward camera on the Iphone. Works great!
  5. The Solo Expediciones Tour actually starts at 10:00 am from their office which is about a 5 minute walk from the pier. Their website says 6:30 am but I emailed them to inquire as our cruise ship doesnt get there until 8:00am. They assured me the tour start was 10:00 am. So if you're interested, email them and inquire.
  6. We are on the Sapphire Princess for Jan. 20, 2023 Antartica and SA. I hope it doesn't get cancelled. We did purchase non-refundable air but if we cancel we get flight credits and can use them next year to go to Europe for our son's wedding. I just read that Princess cancelled their Jan 2022 SA cruises in August 2021.... we are now in September (whew) so far so good!
  7. What is considered reasonable tips for tours guides and drivers for tours in ports for my South American Cruise. Do they want US $ as tips? or local currency? Also tipping insights in general for taxi, restaurants, hotel porters, etc. would be appreciated. I have never been to South America. Thank you!
  8. we are on the Sapphire Princess in Jan 2023, I've booked 2 small group tours (not ship excursions) based on other comments on Cruise Critic: I booked a tour with Patrick Watts in Falklands to see the Rockhopper penguins at Cape Bougainville as his tour to Volunteer Point was already booked solid. Cost is $190 cash only. www.adventurefalklands.com IN Punta Arenas we booked a tour with www.soloexpediciones.com to the Magellanic Penguin Reserve on Magdelena & Marta Islands. Cost is $103 per person.
  9. I'm booked on the Sapphire in Jan 2023 Antarctica/South America cruise. Haven't been on Princess since 2003 Alaska cruise! Which Specialty Dining Rooms does she have and what is your favorite?
  10. The tests are easy to do. We downloaded the Navica app and used our smart phones. Last year I ordered 6 tests through eMed to use to enter Iceland and return to USA for me and my husband. I used another of the tests at home when we returned. The final 1 test , I took to Mexico to use for my return. That kit had an empty reagent bottle. Luckily, I could do a test at the resort in order to fly home.. My point, you may consider bring extra tests.
  11. We are on the Sapphire Princess in Jan-Feb and I just tried to book with Patrick Watts Volunteer Point for Feb 01, 2023. He said he was fully booked with a long wait list! He didn't give me any indication that cruise ships may not be able to come! He did offer me a tour to Cape Bougainville to see Rockhopper penguins. Not my first choice but maybe ok. Anyone know of this tour?
