Missy, your posts are just as cute as you are....it never gets old does it Emmy???? I love seeing it through your eyes though. I'm sure they were as round as saucers!!! Loving your review....we have to wait until 2014 for Allure:(

Well just tuned in having forgotten about your due date and voila, Isaac had arrived.
So the circle of life is complete, how bittersweet. Condolences and prayers that your memories will sustain your Dad's loss. Happy baby!:D
We just booked Allure May 4, 2014.

It's a terrific idea! We have been in ours for 2 years this month and we absolutely love it. We had it foamed (foam insulation) inside and our highest bill was under $170 August of 2011 for 2000 sq ft. Our winter bill this year has been around $60. So they must look into that. The foam costs about 1/3 more than std insulation but was worth every penny!
It's a wonderful way to get the same house that is stick built for about 1/2 the price. It worked well for our modern/industrial decor.
Sorry to highjack, but just had to comment. If she wants to talk to me about it, I'm at becciwells@live.com

Not too bad a day. I had hoped they'd have clear skies. But any day you sailaway is a good day!:D

Barndominium? We live in a Barndominium!!!
I may have to talk to Debbie too!!
Here's ours in Spring Branch right after the bldg went up:
-
I am so looking forward to that Crab Ravioli and the shrimp! MMMM
-
I'm kinda partial to the old girl myself Cindy! But can't wait to see the differences when Navigator shows up!
Have friends sailing today, but I think it should clear off for them by sailaway.
Just 3 more Sundays and we go...I don't count sailaway Sunday! ;)

A great book about art auctions at sea is Brian David Bruns' "Ship for Brains". It's the second book in his "Cruise Confidential" series, and depicts his time working as an art auctioneer onboard RC and Carnival ships. Of course, the mega art auction company he worked for was called "Sundance" (as opposed to Park West). Names have been changed to protect the guilty, maybe? ;):D
THE FIRST WORD IN THAT TITLE needs to be auto corrected!

We have one of the popular aft cabins for our trip 9256. Just how much time did the Captain spend in the rear view position at Hubbard. I mean could we stay on our balcony and still get good pix because I am told he will slowly spin the ship around just for that purpose. Was that true of your cruise?

I love owls, we have a resident one, here's a pic in our back 40:
And our painted bunting:
Wish we knew more about our rebel! Todd was not able to stop this hummer's wings....any suggestions?

Becci....
We signed up for Harv and Marv Whale Watching in Juneau.
Sorry hijacking...again!
Debbie, hope you do some kind of review so I can see how you fared with H&M. I think you are doing Alaska this summer, right?
And LJ, I can't believe the close ups of the performers! Just awesome! Where were you sitting in the theater?
-
So just my opinion, but I don't see it as "dragging it around" everywhere.
. :)
No I wasn't referring to the snorkel vests, but to the life preservers (the big puffy orange ones) that they(Eco tours) make you tie to your wrists if you don't have snorkel vests!
In any case we have purchased our vests. :)

Ha another funny thing....take out the whales and sea lions and the pole list looks like our bucket list for Yellowstone. I can say we made all of the list except the water animals in that park and it is our favorite place in the world...unless we switch to Alaska!:D Add in Marmets, fox, Coyote, Wolf, Bison and Elk.

Nice camera choice.! Honestly I never used UV filters until I somehow scratched the front of a 70-200 f/2.8. So...the next two expensive lenses I bought I got B+W UV filters for them. I bought fairly expensive ones so that I did minimize any possible degradation. Then I got another 70-200 f/2.8 - and didn't get a UV:D. In any case, I use lens hoods frequently, so I haven't managed to scratch any more lenses - or filters.
Whenever I'm outside shooting nature/landscape/travel photos, I almost always have a circular polarizer on my 18-200mm. I helps with color saturation, especially on vegetation, and helps with cloud definiton and deeper blue skies. I also helps cut glare off of reflective surfaces - from water to store windows. It can be overdone, but the nice thing is you can rotate to taste!
L.J.
So is that how you're getting such great saturation of color with those town shots? Or do you use an editor to achieve those brilliant colors...they are just awesome! Should we get the polarizer for sure for our whale trip?

Wow! Just spotted your review....best pics ever I've seen here on CC.
Can't wait for our trip in Sept. Have already booked HnM and Michelle for the float plane. We don't fish that often, but the rest of my family does. My brother is a die hard fly fisherman and he loves bone fishing the coast with fly. They would love your fish photos. What trophies you all caught!
You should be working for National Geo. I'm saving all your camera advice for our cruise bud who does Nikon. We shoot Canon Rebel but have only scratched the serface with ours. He is much more knowledgeble and has tried to convert us to the dark side! Ha! He has some big A lenz he's taking for our trip. We're doing the video and he's doing the stills. But don't know how we'd ever beat yours...totally fantabulous! Keep them coming, didn't your trip end in Vancouver? Waiting for your obviously fantastic pics of the Lion's Gate Bridge and coming into Canada Place.:p:D

We have a whole lot of Radiance scheduled this year, so we're hoping that they don't get carried away with the changes. We were already disappointed with the changes after dry dock. I mean, I love a hot dog as much as anyone, but replacing the Sea View???
Yeah, we were very disappointed when we found out our Alaska cruise would not include the Sea View, after looking at pics for years, we are not going to get to have it! But from what people are saying, the new restaurant which took up the outdoor space from SeaView is just as good and with no roof, better viewing....at least that's what I read here. Hope so:o

Hi Mitsugirly, as usual you provide great info here.
After a weather CX on our last trip to Belize, this time, we are going come H-e-double toothpicks to Goff with ECO.
Seeing all the videos on YouTube prompted us to purchase one of those pop up beach shelters...big enough for two, push tie downs into sand for shade thingys. In a bag so easy to transport. Will come back and review the whole excursion and let you all know how the thingy worked. Will take that and towels only and maybe a canned drink or 2 from ship. We are interested in the snorkeling.
In anybodies opinion, would it help to bring our own vests? The thought of dragging around a life preserver is ludicrous to me...how do you dive with that?

Hum, wanted to see info on Galveston and I see a bunch about Alaska?? Is someone sailing from Galveston to Alaska now?
BonVoyage
Dawna
Just chit chat amongst friends who sail from Galveston a lot....
-
Wow, you're right Munk, I didn't think of that. Whew, that is a bunch! I guess they would've saved a few bucks just putting her in dry dock last month!
-
Our whale watching is with Harv & Marv in Juneau, but Orca is what I'm really after....this trip is going to be without doubt the most expensive we've ever taken! Maybe we'll just charge another whale watching trip....it's only money:eek::D
-
Lol....no, it won't stop us either, but next time we go during a big toodoo I'll bring my tazer!:D At least they're not banning those......yet.
-
Sorry, but that looked pretty bad to me. And the moron who iphoned it was one of the hoodlums.
Pretty ethnic looking crowd to me, but the most disturbing thing about it was that these creeps are the future of our country.
Disgusting and horribly embarrassing. Never saw the police before the place was thoroughly trashed. I'm sure the store front owners have damages. Makes you want to crack a few heads doesn't it?
-
Well Kling, we did our research for it and think we have it under wraps but still considering the zip line in Icy Strait, what do you think? We may just visit the restaurant and then get back on board and relax on the balcony with some wine and enjoy the fantastic scenery of Hoonah.

Hey guys: how are you. Be sure and come back here and give us a review from the Alaska cruise.
We are planning big too. Harv and Marv for Juneau whale watch and Island Wings for float plane in Ketch. Another couple coming with us for that one....cannot wait! Our first Alaska.
Hope our weather is better than today's for our April Mariner:) Brian and Sherry whom we all met at Diamond hour in 2011 is joining us on this next one.:D
