    Goodbye

That wasn't what I was expecting to read. Our condolences to you and your family at this terrible time.
  2. I thought it was something like that, I quite liked it. Thanks.
  3. I believe the school holidays in Scotland are in June, I don't know when Wales start theirs. If you happen to get an ice cream from the lido deck anytime will you see what make it is please. No hurry for reply i can wait until you get back. Hope you have a lovely time.
  4. Put the items you would normally put in the drawer into packing cubes. Then just place the cube on the shelf. You don't need to spend a fortune on cubes any zip bag will do, something like a cheap shoe bag, or small storage bag. I got a set with lots of different shapes and sizes from Lidl for I think it was £8. Some have a picture of something electrical on them, but it's your choice what you put in them. I read a hint, I think from a crew member, to use magnetic hooks on the shower curtain to keep it from moving. That's probably the only thing I would use them for, couldn't stand them all over the walls with bits of paper hanging off them.
  5. Wow, that's some fire. Lovely photos. We wanted to go on Ventura on our last cruise but she was in the wrong place.

    ETIAS

Not from what I read, but they don't have to pay. Questions include education, medical conditions, criminal records among others.

    ETIAS

So how will the new ETIAS that are starting in 2024 work with cruising. Will you have to hand them over to P&O onboard the ship for them to be checked. I wouldn't think that would be so as you probably won't get them back. I'm assuming it's something you will keep with you passport. I suppose that P&O will create another page on the online check-in. Knowing how good with IT P&O are it will be a doddle. 🤣
  9. As you will know it's part of their move to sustainability that was announced way back in 2018. Way before things went pear shape in the world. Scroll down to their 2018 update. https://www.pocruises.com/sustainability Any move to improve the world we live in has got to be applauded.
  10. I forgot to say, I do have to adjust the colour of the photos. I know there are a lot of apps for this, but I use a simple one Microsoft picture manager. I just click on auto correct and it sorts it. No messing about with sliders. Obviously people who have the time, patience and eye for detail will use something more advanced. @pierces that looks nifty, easy to hold and operate. For me the trouble with using a phone or my phone is the size and stability of it with small hands.
  11. I borrowed our daughter's Panasonic compact for our second cruise and thought it was great even though oldish. I find the phone cumbersome and oh has a dslr. I wanted a compact camera that I could put in a small bag or pocket. I looked at the Panasonic but to get a similar one to the borrowed one was dearer than I wanted to pay at the time. Eventually I bought a Canon SX620. It's very basic but does for what I want. It will fit into a shirt pocket and can be used with one hand. I have taken photos with one hand through a moving bus window while looking the other way. One of those photos was of Sorrento Bay, I didn't like the drop so held my camera and just kept clicking while looking the other way. We have enlarged the photo to about 20 x 16 and it is hanging on our wall.
  12. I can't imagine how they could get around the ship themselves. There are so many staircases all over the ship. So many people sat all over that there is no clear walkway. When on Ventura a few years ago, I went into one of the beauty talks. They were demonstrating the correct way to apply some cream. One of the ladies went over to a table to help some ladies who turned out to be blind. There was a group sitting together, but I don't know if any of them were sighted, as they were sat behind a pole. A few days later when getting off the coach at Pisa, I heard some people asking the guide (quite forcefully) to take them around. It was the ladies this time with some men, they all appeared to have sight issues. I don't know if the guide obliged them. I never saw any of them walking around the ship.
  13. Apparently two ladies who are blind booked a cruise on Ventura. Their TA liaised with P&O with regards to their concerns. However when they boarded Ventura things changed and they had to argue their right to be there. They were given a letter and escorted from the ship. https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2023-06-06/blind-friends-forced-to-leave-dream-cruise-dubbed-health-and-safety-risk
  14. There probably won't be much open at 3 pm for lunch. You might have to go for pizza or burger on deck depending on which ship you are going on. Maybe the two new ones might have places open. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. ICF with regards to your photos, I think it's because the file is too big, or maybe a portrait photo saving the same way as a landscape one. Great blog, don't tell too many people to walk a bit further for tables or everyone will do so.
  16. They will take your cases to put in hold and you will see them next at your cabin door. So keep out anything you need. On our 1st cruise on the return our son (eventually) went to the wrong side to pick us up. What a clart it was to get to the other side with all the cases. On our last cruise a couple stayed the night before at the hotel. It was probably cheaper than a taxi.
  17. Pick up is on the south bound. You need to be at the back of the services next to the petrol garage. Around 5:30 a.m. is a good time to get there if you are leaving at 6:00. We normally get there just before that. Drop off is North bound.

    Palma

Does anyone else have photos to share?
  19. emam

    Palma

@Host Hattie Can you please change the name to just Palma.

    Palma

It's the same location as MB was talking about from her photo and she called it Palma. Do I have the wrong name?

    Palma

With all of the talk of La Palma, I went to search for some photos. I didn't really have any of the queues but I have some nice photos. I thought I would share some of them with you. These as you will gather are of the port just after docking.
