We were on the March 19th sailing. Left room at 7:25, they opened the aft just as it was our turn to go around the stairs and we were at Grand Central station by 8:00. Cab.

I can spare the time, so I'd go for more cruises. For me, more experiences are my goal in life.
Agree.
-
I vote for Cagneys and Le Bistro; I'd dine at either one twice.
I agree and we did.

Do you have time to wait? Keep checking. We upgraded after final payment and got lots of things added that I didn't know about. It was a nice surprise.
-
It's a free venue now, right?
Yes, and this is the reason people line up 30 minutes before opening. Hard to get into. When it was an extra fee it was mostly empty.

I have a friend on it now. I know she will be posting photos on Facebook. Can't wait to see them.

Wow that is nice. Need to check out this ship.

We like to do late dining, 8-8:30 so we see the shows before dinner. Anyone going on Breakaway really should make reservations. Lots turned away. Not sure for the later show.
-
I suggest you make dinner reservations. Without them you will definitely have a wait or not be able to get in at all. These are the peak dining times. We prefer the specialty dining on Breakaway and always eat around 8:00 so we never had a problem although I always had reservations. You will find the buffet ok but no where as good as HAL and Celebrity. Equal or second to RCCL. We had breakfast in O'Sheean's most days. The one time we went to the dining room it was a disaster.

Dinner. That was our other issue- I think it would have been better suited for lunch!

I agree. Would have loved to had lunch here.

If that's a serious question, then I will respond.
Nice sandals go wonderfully with nice shorts. Any nice shoes go well with nice jeans. You can dress up a pair of jeans by simply wearing nice shoes and a nice blouse, shirt or sweater.
Jeans and shorts don't necessarily mean you will (or should) be wearing sneakers.
FYI - the dress code for the main dining room and Le Bistro at dinner is different than the other restaurants.
It was our experience that MOST people observed the dress code for Le Bistro and for the main dining room. In fact, at Le Bistro during our dinner, there was no one in there that looked anything less than business casual, which was very nice and very much appreciated.
We were on the same cruise. Only in the Manhattan room (only night we did not do specialty dining) did we see a guy in shorts and T shirt. Maybe that's why they sat him all the way in the back where no one could see him. LOL. Funny thing was his date/ wife was dressed really nice.

We don't really care for Breakaway's dining rooms so with the 3 free we also purchased 3 more.

We cruise out of NY / NJ the third week in March almost every year. This year was Breakaway (same two years ago) March 19th. The weather usually isn't bad, this year being one of the cooler ones. We have had 6 inches of snow on deck for embarkation to 65 and beautiful. All but one by the time we hit Florida have been beach weather. Most are very nice until the last sea day except this year we did hit a storm after leaving Nassau. Never have I not been able to swim, use the slides, hot tubes and get my first sunburn of the season. ;)

I have heard that it's not worth it in colder months but May should be nice but not an absolute must. But if I can get it and use my obc would give it a try.
We were on the March 19th sailing and I wanted to really get these. Hubby talked me out of it. So glad he did as there were only 3 days we would have used it because of weather, 2 of them were port days that most people were off the ship. Didn't need it on those days.

32 oz. steak for 2 in Le Bistro.
-
HAL is by far one of the best cruises we have experienced. Hard to beat them. RCCL or Celebrity would be the closest.
-
people who remove the DSC's are trash, plain and simple.
thanks for the review.
We were on this cruise and sitting at the Atrim bar most of the afternoon last day. Hubby commented " wonder why so many people are in line at guest services.". I jokenly said taking off their gratuity's. Guess I nailed it.

We absolutely love the aft balcony. We have had 3. But we don't spend that much time on our balcony and would much rather have the bigger cabin. You will spend far more time in your cabin than on your balcony.
-
1. Eastern. 2. Southern. 3. Western.

I get the smoking in the casino. So why not put the casino on the very top deck and suck it out the top.

Just off Breakaway with UBP. Wine was OK, not great. I liked the Cabernet but not the Pinot noir. My favorite drink are my espresso martini's (no Baily's please) and I had to pay $3.45 (plus I tipped 1 to 2$ extra) each for these. They were so worth it.
-
At least you gave it a try. There are some folks on here that only stay with one cruiseline, never experiencing what others may have to offer.
No big deal if you didn't like it, that happens sometimes.
Enjoy your next cruise.:)
I agree with you. We were also on this cruise with the OP, second time on BA. It wasn't a great cruise but the reason I will not be on BA any time again soon is there are just so many more ships to experience.

Just off Breakaway on Sunday and we were directly above 8136. Balcony does have the slant but is still very large. We had two loungers, two chairs and a round table. 8136 Was still bigger than ours.
-
BUT, you may be able to upgrade your cabin for a small fee. We just did this when there was a drop on our cruise after final payment. We were able to move from balcony to large balcony for only 30$ pp.
Breakaway disembarkation?

And be in that line before 7:30.
