  1. Just off Breakaway and no problem with gluten free meals. I am new to this diet, had breakfast in the pub most mornings and ate 6 of the 7 nights in specialty restaurants. I never ordered ahead. Only had issues two times. Italian restaurant waiter said he wasn't sure if he could get me gf pasta but did and the only time we had breakfast in one of the dining rooms. I think it was Taste but I think they just forgot about us and tried to use the gf as an excuse. Long story.

  2. Hi Ann. Glad to hear you booked Anthem. She may be our next ship also. Glad you did not book Breakaway as the smoke last week was really bad. As a former smoker I am the one that defends peoples right to smoke. All ship that I have been on allow smoking in a few designated areas but this ship has way too many. And it reeks. Usually it doesn't bother me but even on deck at H20 it was real bad. Our favorite bar last time was Maultings. This time it was just way smokier. Even in the hallways and yes, even on our balcony. Even found a butt on my balcony someone threw on the third day. Maybe we just had a huge amount of smokers.

  3. Thanks for your helpful review! Every review I have read mentions the long disembarkation no matter if they do self-assist or not. Not looking forward to that for our BA cruise.

We were also on this cruise. Set alarm for 7, crawled out of bed about 7:05, out of room about 7:25 in cab by 7:50, Grand Central Station by 8:00.

  4. Just off Breakaway today. Clam shells are now 39$. Definitely reserve at excursion desk, when we boarded the app would not allow us to reserve and the on board screen did not work either. Went down at for priority tendering at 9:10 am and was on the tender by 930. People that got off the ship after 12 had trouble finding chairs.

  5. Please no! I absolutely hated those envelopes & always felt some of the staff were somewhat embarrassed (humiliated?) by the process. Besides, with the changes in dining you'd have to carry cash to tip at every meal. And what do you do at the buffet? Tip the people who put something on your plate?

As someone who worked in the service industry for many years they are are not embarrassed, they are grateful to receive the envelopes. I do take cash and tip each meal as well as bartenders. I worry the way it is done now they took a huge cut in tip pay.

  6. I was allowed on the Bridge of The Pearl coming oout of Miami once. While we were still in the tidal basin, a sailing sloop crossed just in front of the bow. there was a lot aof swearing going on in several languages- non probably repeatable or translatable. The Harbor Pilot was on the radio to the Coast Guard with the registration number of the craft.

Would have loved to have witnessed that.

  7. Went to alaska with just carry on. Bought so many souvenirs that we had to wear all our heavy stuff home...to NYC during an August heatwave!!

    Safe sailing

While mailing post cards at a post office in Alaska we witnessed several ladies buying those boxes 5$ anything you can fit. They were mailing home their dirty laundry so they had room for all the stuff they bought. You can fit a good amount of stuff in those boxes.
