  1. Thank you so much, that does help! I've searched the threads for an answer but have not been able to get anything definite. Now I know what to look for, thanks again

I too like a cup right away. I have found on Breakaway that the coffee is so much better if you use bottled water. At first I thought if was crappy coffee then when hubby made it with spring water it was ok. Now that we can no longer bring water on board I bought one of the britta filter water bottles and plan on using it for the coffee water.

  2. You're welcome! I will say that I have brought back anywhere from 4 to 16 bottles on various cruises and have only had customs even look twice at me one time. The agent I got in Jacksonville made me pay duty on my overage bottles in 2012. Had 8 bottles and the duty on the 6 I was over came out to $11 and change.

That's good to hear. I have always brought back lots from St. Thomas (most was 22 bottles, 4 adults traveling) and was never really asked. Worried about bringing it back from Nassau. They have always waved me through but only with 5 or 6.

  3. The Watlings Distillery has a tour and you can purchase rum. We bought the middle of the several options and it has a great flavor and so smooth even to drink straight. Highly recommend a walk to find them.

Planning this in a couple of weeks. How far was the walk there?

  4. I saw a very pretty girl in jeans that were ripped in very unusual places on my last cruise. It was very distracting causing me to miss my mouth with food several times making my wife think I was getting senile.

Thankfully, she was unable to see what was behind her distracting me and if she reads this thread then I am in trouble. :o

    :'):'):'), too funny.

  5. Unless you are a teen, don't wear ripped jeans. Also, you can't be "dressed up" with ripped jeans.

    Signed, the fashion police.

Our school doesn't allow the teens to wear them. That said I plan on wearing nice black jeans with boots onto the ship. Dinner at Cagney's, should I plan on changing?

  6. While many people have provided the answer in this thread..... a simple search would've provided the same information as a gazillion people have mentioned exactly how much the tax is.

Not being critical to the OP but just educating about the search feature because they mentioned no one had mentioned the rate before.

Sometimes the search is difficult. We don't mind answering the OP's question.

  7. I was on the jade in Jan. We prebooked our SDP dinners at the 90 day mark based on the info here and with the plan that we could always change reservations onboard if it was a non-issue. Boy were we glad we had the reservations. A couple days into the cruise I looked on the iconcierge and nothing was available any night before 9; and some were booked up completely full. At one point I walked by the reservation desk listening to an angry woman say that she didn't want to eat at 9:30 at night. So yes, completely believe OPs experience.

When we did end up using the credits the restaurants were never full. Can see how it would be easy to make multiple reservations. We intended to eat a la carte 4 nights because we had 4SDP. But we had two rooms with a total of 3 people with 4SDP. I was able to book reservations for 4 without any charge. So I could have booked moderno 4 nights, the other room could have booked teppanyaki for 4 nights, and we could have each booked cagney's, Le bistro, and la cucina the rest of the nights since there's no booking fee for a la cartes.

If NCL is finding this to be an issue they really should fix it. Either charge a no show fee or do away with reservations all together.

Also this issue is completely different than a local restaurant at capacity. Restaurants stagger their staff to have fewer at open and close but to be fully staffed during prime time dinner; especially on the weekends. There's no reason that at 7:00 (which is when our reservations were for) that they shouldn't have been fully staffed.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I thought there was a no show fee. This would really help. I have 6 specialty reservations for our upcoming cruise. 3 free and paid for 3 more on the dining plan. Kind of worried for the night we left for chance.

  8. I read supposedly a true story about a 4-5 year old cruising with his parents. A crew member asked him if it was his first cruise and he answered "Yes and I'm the bonus from mommy's first cruise!" Someone else must have forgotten their birth control pills!

    :'):'):'):'):'), Love it.

  9. Years ago I suffered from severe migraines and of all things I forgot my prescribed medicine! Lucky we sailed to Bermuda when one hit me for being in the sun too long. My sister-in-law worked at the drugstore/pharmacy and since it was not enough time to call my pharmacist the pharmacist took me to "over the counter" meds and told me what I could take over the bottle amount safely. I always triple check all of my meds now and carry in my purse.

Oh no. That is the worst. I would rather forget my underwear. I go nowhere without mine.
