  1. Good afternoon everyone. I came across this in another article about a free (!) app called Mobile Passport. It’s the official one of US Customs and Border Protection and allows anyone with a US or Canadian passport to skip the stress-inducing re-entry lines after international flights at 24 domestic airports (plus the Everglades Cruise Port in Florida). Do any of you have this app and does it work? This seems to be something that would be that blue customs document that you fill and show to the officer as you are clearing customs. Thoughts?

    Have a wonderful weekend, Sue

We use Global Entry, which has never cost us more than six minutes entering the United States.

This program seems less intrusive than the interview and fee required for Global Entry, though, my comfort zone on Global Entry is that it has been a 100% timesaver- sometimes, 5 to 6 minutes instead of an apparent 50-70 (Think LAX/ATL). It has never failed us. Ever.

In my opinion, this mobile program is great, until the first occasion where you don’t have a short line, and your wait costs you time.

  2. Nice 4K video; watched it on my Samsung 4K tv. Thanks for posting. Is this your fav Princess ship?

Thank you. Yes, but for sentimental reasons- Island Princess a close 2nd.

What I REALLY would like to know is when Princess’ 2020 schedules will be out. Want to do. World cruise segment on PP, if we can- really like this ship [emoji846]

  3. I like the touch where you hosed down all the decks to bring out the color like they do on the home improvement shows. LOL

    Thanks for the video.

Well that’s just the preproduction bit in me, I aim to please

    [emoji28]

Post is where the real fun is. The entire film of the cruise came out really well, especially pops on a 4K television.

  4. Thank you so much for posting this video. Awesome job. We were on the Pacific about 3 years ago and it was all very dark wood and colors. My DS said the atrium reminded him of the Haunted Mansion ride.

Boy will he be surprised when he sees this video. Can't wait to be back on her this August.

Thank you, I really enjoyed making it; I absolutely loved our first time on her where this was made - November 2017 in the Adriatic [emoji8]

  5. The Pacific Princess is our favorite ship too. We have spent 7 weeks on her so far. We have always gotten a mini suite. Princess has put new photos of the cabin interiors on the web site. I am concerned because instead of the two comfortable arm chairs there is now a low back stool. I know I will never be comfortable in that. It looks like they have a low back chair at the desk also. We are booked for 5 weeks in 2019 but I am not sure I can stand 5 weeks without a good chair in the cabin.

5 weeks in a mini suite. Wow. Hope the chair works out for you [emoji846]

  6. Are all the benefits of booking a future cruise while onboard, transferable if you subsequently modify your booking?

The only objective answer you will have received from anyone is that it depends on the cruise line and/or one’s persistence. As your question specifically mentions “all“, the answer must be ‘no’.

As you see from my cruisemate Barb (TMLAalum), she was able to do it, though there -is-no-consistent- answer possible. Just keep asking until you feel like stopping the pursuit [emoji846]

    Cheers,

    Bob

  7. Pssst! One of my fellow cruisers for our Panama Canal Cruise forward an email from Celebrity and they are having a “Flash sale” until Sunday with regards to excursions, beverage packages, specialty dinning and perhaps WiFi. Thought you might want to know. My TA sent an email to my phone query and she has been on hold for 40+ minutes with Celebrity (to upgrade our bev pkg to premium if possible)

Celebrity are always having a sale now it seems-

Thank you, though.... will look at it [emoji846]

  8. So happy to see that this roll call is still alive. Fun to catch up.

Do you remember how many pages and how may people participated in the August, 2016 British Isles cruise ?

No... not to the number of posts, though I suspect it was 5-6000.

The number of total posters at its highest was about 110 (Cruise participants, including non-posters- appx 190); by the time the cruise began, active posters were approximately 80, of which I would say today probably 30 remain active here.

I plan on keeping this thread going for as long as Cruise Critic allow it.

That trip, and continuing friendships of our British Isles group will be extremely hard to match.

  9. Watched the YouTube of the restaurant on the Edge. Thank you for posting the information. Fraser and I will be on the Edge briefly at the end of November, is there anything you want investigated while on board?

Lol... I can give you a list if you guys don’t plan on sleeping. I will be filming when we go two weeks later- I’ll make that* available to everyone as quickly as I can.

A ship tour in 4K that I will have published prior to New Year’s eve-, while I work on the rest of the vacation video.

  10. Cool! I hadn't even thought of doing that yet! I just went to the Celebrity website and checked on doing that as well, but first I need to find out if another couple we know who are on the same cruise would want to join us for dinner. Do you have to pay for the dinner when you make the reservation? I will have some shipboard credit that I would like to use for it, but it won't be posted to our account until after we board the ship.

    Judy

    Hi Judy,

Yes, you have to pay to secure, so I used shipboard credit I already have. Independent of agent credit, we have all 4 perks, one of which is shipboard credit- that can be used now (and was).

  11. Hello! I am sure most, if not all, of you have received the email that shows more details on the Edge, but for those of you who haven't seen it yet, you might be interested in checking her out at: https://www.celebritycruises.com/edge/?allowMobile=y&ecid=em_22069689&rid=142771681&mes=Celebrity%20Edge%20Culinary%20Reveal%20Feb%202018%20EM&emsc=CCC_ELT_NAN_NAN_NAN_USA_MO_0_NAN&empf=Y&emct=E&lnkid=EDGE_CUL_HERO

It looks pretty cool! We are looking forward to seeing the ship in person in February 2019!

Sure did. Watched the reveal tonight, and just grabbed Eden for one dinner [emoji6]

  12. We are doing San Antonio (formerly Valparaiso) to San Diego on March 24, 2019 on the Eclipse-only one leg.

Some are starting in BA for both legs. There may be about 10 of us but I think Bob has the exact count.

I believe we are at 12. When folks have paid their finals... lol, then we’ll know for sure.

  13. I am sure a lot of you received the same email as we got today. It showed a video of the Edge moving out of dry dock. In case you haven't seen it, here is a link to the video: https://www.celebritycruises.com/edge/?allowMobile=y&ecid=em_22055169&rid=142771681&mes=Celebrity%20Edge%20Storytelling%20Loyalty%20Feb%202018%20EM&emsc=CCC_ELT_NAN_NAN_NAN_USA_MO_0_NAN&empf=Y&emct=E&lnkid=FLOAT_HERO#252399372

I hope you can click on it and see it. The lights flashing on the bridge reminded me of the "Close Encounters" movie.

Yes... another tease from STX [emoji11]

I want to see this thing underway with passengers already! For a few reasons, December cannot get here quickly enough [emoji5]

  14. Morning, Does anyone know if I will have enough time to go on the excursion of Pearl Harbor when I have a 3:00 pm flight. I spoke with Royal and they say it begins at 8:15 and it is 5 hours which gives me 1.5 hours to catch my flight. Is that enough time to go through customs and security & make my flight. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Am on active-duty Navy and spent four years there through 2015... if you are disembarking that morning, then you will have time to get over there.

It does not take five hours to go through it unless you want to read all the murals, and see every exhibit. However, I strongly advise you to get there no later than 7:30 AM so that you can -already be in place in line- to grab tickets for the first public water shuttle; which should be 8 AM. Check directly yourself with the National Park Service to see what is current.

If- you are just getting in line around 8 or 8.15, and have not already obtained a ticket, you may have to wait an hour or two depending on crowds just for your shuttle to go over.

Please understand it is very dependent on what crowds happen to show up. In order to not have your visit disappointingly unavailable to you, please, again- show up very early.

I highly recommend that you do not try to go through Agriculture at the Honolulu airport and be at your gate with only 90 minutes to spare. Hawaiian time is a well–earn reputation.

Give yourself at least 2.5 hours from putting your foot inside the airport before your plane is scheduled to depart.

    Cheers,

    Bob

  15. Guess I'm late to the party. Just discovered this thread with all of the great people we met on the Tattoo British Isles cruise. Look forward to seeing many of you on the Valparaiso/San Diego cruise in March 2019. Lois & Bill aka Traveling Library

    Glad you’re finally here!

[emoji44] Emailed it to every single person on Jim‘s .PDF at the end of August 2016! This went to your EarthLink account.

  16. Silhouetters, did you notice that The Silhouette was voted #1 of 10 Best Cruise Ships for Value? I read that on the Cruise Critic "2018 Cruisers' Choice Awards"

    Judy

Well, duh. We were on her.

(I did not see it but I’m not surprised)

  17. Hi Barb!

We return from Asia on April 15 and my first day back to work is April 18. I work until 6 pm, but we could meet for dinner. What are your plans for the 18th? Are you spending the night in Portland? Let’s try to get together!

    Dorothy

These meet ups are becoming catching

I love the reunion posts! ❤️

  18. Enjoyed your videos. Will be on the Pacific Princess this June for the first time, looking forward to the cruise. Might not want to go back to the Royal or Regal type ships. Will be in a mini-suite, wondering if any videos of those cabins are available.

Thank you and have a wonderful time on Princess!

As to Mini Suite video, I don’t know, but I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find them of any good quality; it’s the reason I filmed in 4K – I wanted people to see far better quality than someone’s cell phone video at 480P [emoji849]

Really irked me that many people film via convenience and not quality. Cell phones/portrait versus landscape, etc.

    Cheers,

    Bob
