  1. We still hope to see you in San Diego in September and "Bah Habah" in October though.

    Judy

Can you remind me please.... are you guys on a cruise in New England or you just showing up where our ports are?

Either way, it’s going to be fun to see you guys in October!

  2. After much anticipation, we are finally on our Viking ocean cruise in the Caribbean. We decided to try Viking after reading all of the great reviews and seeing their numerous awards. Like many of you, we to get tired of jewelry sales, photographers, and the push to upsell. With that being said, after one week so far on the Viking Sea,my husband and I Are booking our next cruise again with celebrity. We have only taken one celebrity cruise in the past, on the silhouette, and we really enjoyed it. We are 58 and 70, and have found the average age on Viking to be higher than what we expected. I think the Viking product is great if you love to read, love classical music or quiet piano music. The evening entertainment is decent with a collection of singers, and the band excellent. But the songs so far have definitely appealed more to a older generation. Not really a club for dancing if you enjoy that. The pool is definitely quiet, no games, but no music either. Things we miss from Celebrity - Martini and Sunset bars. There was more activity, and more of a “vacation vibe”. I’m not looking for a raucous party, but I like to feel some sort of “hey, we’re on vacation!” spirit. It seems most everyone on Viking is retired, so maybe coming from a different perspective. We stayed in Aqua on celebrity, and I think our room was just as nice as what we have here on Viking. Balcony is just the same. A lot of people have talked about how good the Viking food is an over all it is good. However, there’s just nothing special about going to dinner on Viking. It’s almost too casual, And although some people like the clean Scandinavian design, I think it is rather cold. We felt that our dinners in blu and especially Murano were just as good as what we’ve had On board here. If anyone has more questions, I’d be glad to answer them but for now it’s off to one of our excursions here in Aruba!

Thank you. Your post appears to be objective and is definitely helpful.

  3. Hi Judy,

2020 and beyond, we will be able to do this at that time of year (Holly is in budgeting and can never get the end of the fiscal year off!).

That said, there is a bit of a reunion planned in place of that Edge TA that was to be a month or so later:

June 3, 2019, Reflection (Iceland and Ireland).

There are six of us so far, please join in!!

    Cheers,

    Bob

  4. This class sounds like fun to me. My husband, not so much. I know he will not be eager to pay $35 pp for this class when we have the premium drink package. I know it's not much, but that's the way his mind works. I say it'll be fun and maybe it will break us out of our cocktail rut a little when we get home.

Have any of you taken this class? What were your thoughts?

Yes, we did on Eclipse, and it was $30 I believe at the time...and- was a blast getting to do it. That said, it was at a time when it was still the Molecular Bar... a lot of fun.

Your husband has to be objective and separate the premium package you have with any extra tours you want, including onboard classes- they simply are not connected.

If they were, the premium drink package would be higher priced to now ‘include’ the fee. Also, there would be no easy capacity control of the class. This is no different than the Oceanview Café including all your food, but the Lawn Grill or any specialty dining being extra.

Does not sound like he should go, where he is concerned about $35. I think you would have a blast doing it.

  5. Afternoon everyone! Hope you all are doing well. Wondering with all of you having previously traveled the Panama Canal, did you bring with you currency for the countries you visited such as Pesos for Mexico? Jim, I came across your website for the Infinity cruise and your links have been most helpful along with the reviews that you, Mike and Bob M did of your travel there.

We did go there. IMO— don’t bother with Pesos; take USD. They’ll be accepted at any main tourist destination.

Thank you so much for posting the video. We were in the same suite for 18 nights last June/July 2017 after drydock. Some things were changed like the bed and sofa, but we still had the old chairs and light fixtures. Did they put USB ports in the new light fixtures?

You’re very welcome. There are three videos in playlist. Nope, there are not USB ports in the fixtures, but it didn’t matter to us, it was just a wonderful experience.

Thank you for your pictures, though I took a bunch myself!

If you want to see video of the trip, give me your email address and I will send you a link. Hope to see you on a Princess cruise or other!

    Cheers,

    Bob

  7. Thanks for the information and for sharing the wonderful video. It's definitely putting the Pacific Princess at the top of the list for a cruise in 2019!

You are very welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Took a lot of film while I was there, I’m sure you’ll get great opportunities yourself.

  8. Thanks again. What I'd like to know is if you have to dine at a set time for Club Class or if you can go any time. It is my understanding that you can only dine at your preassigned time in the non-Club Class part of the dining room, I just didn't know if those same rules applied to Club Class. We have dined in Club Class on other ships and can go whenever we want, hoping it is the same for the Pacific Princess!

CC dine whenever you like, 17.30-21.00 was our range.

  9. We thought there might be. Off topic perhaps but you showed the Club Class dining area. I know the regular MDR is traditional dining only, but is it the same for Club Class? Or is that part anytime? Thanks again for sharing, as you may be able to tell we are considering a future cruise on this ship so I'm doing a little snooping!

Off-topic away! anything you like, I love that ship.

With respect, take a close look again at that video, especially on a large screen television...

There is a text overlay that right after the “club bar” is the entrance to the main dining room. The first text overlay you see, bottom center, says “club class dining”; followed a few seconds later by “main dining room”.

There are the same physical room but sectioned off with a rope, and containing different tableware and service. This is the only time with Princess Cruises that this occurs- it is my understanding that all other ships have their own physical dining room.

Bear in mind that a full suite is automatically is Club Class dining.

Keep the questions coming, I’m happy to help.

By the way... at the very end of the “Panorama Buffet” section of the video, you see a man that slightly resembles Fred Flintstone (IMO) pouring coffee.. that is Antonio, the Head Waiter. He will make special treats for you adjacent to your table only for the club class dining section. He is amazing !

For additional pictures and details, as you wish, give me your email address and I will continue a dialogue there.

    Cheers,

    Bob

  10. Very nice! I also watched your video of suite 8067. Could you hear any noise from the public deck immediately above?

    Thank you!

Yes, a little. That suite is directly under the starboard aft portion of the café’s outside ‘porch’. You will inevitably hear a little bit of scraping as staff move furniture about 6 o’clock each morning.

    Cheers,

    Bob

  11. Wow, beautiful ship! We are booked on her for the Ireland, Wales and Scotland cruise from Dover, England on Aug 17, 2019 and can't wait to board her! Hopefully she is still the ship for this cruise next summer!

    Thank you.. I thought so!

She will be. Don’t let the other posts, however misplaced, scare you off of a 2019 booking.

As for 2020 and beyond, that will be known by April 2018, publicly, when Princess’ schedule for that year is published.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss/showcase her refurbishment since June 2017, not to talk about any possible sale as others have done [emoji846]

  12. What a great video, thank you so much for posting it. We sailed her on the canal cruise right before her refurbishment. She quickly became my favorite Princess ship. I am looking forward to the possibility of booking a cruise on her in 2020.....:):):)

    Bob

Thank you. I remember following your blog LA-FLL in May ‘17! You were also in a suite.. ours may have been a one-off there [emoji3]

Have you ever noticed how much a Solstice Class Sky Lounge floor matches Enterprise’s Transporter Pad?

  14. So just fly to SD in March for dinner and then home again??? Hmmm.

I have $800 in Southwest vouchers that must be used before July 14.

Well, I can’t address what you do either side of March 10, but it would be kind of awesome to get together with you guys for dinner.

  15. I haven't forgotten that I owe you a call. This weekend!

Why don’t the four of you just hop on a plane and get to San Diego in March? Just saying [emoji846][emoji14]

If not, it will just have to wait another 249ish days.

  16. We get to see each other again in March - woo hoo!!

Yep! It will be a ‘record’ (I don’t know a synonym) for Holly and I.... the most Silhouetters in one place of which we’ve been a part since British Isles.

    8!

So nice that you get to see each other between cruises!

It is very nice. The restaurant was OK, but even if it was fantastic, it would’ve paled in comparison to getting together with these two great people again. It was a fun visit.
