  1. We use GeoBlue part of Blue Cross for our foreign travel medical. What I like is they have preferred providers all over the world. If you use one of them you pay nothing out of pocket. When we go overseas I always make a list of their preferred providers in the cities we are visiting just in case.
  2. It's a municipal pier I assume the city can pass whatever regulations they want. https://www.cruisemapper.com/news/11483-cruise-ships-no-longer-welcomed-monterey#:~:text=The city council in Monterey (California USA) voted, terminate city services to process disembarking cruise passengers.
  3. City of Monterey has never been fans of cruise ships. In truth they don't need them to support the tourist trade. They have barred cruise ships before.
  4. Depending on how late/long of a flight you have we like the Hilton LAX. We stay there if we have an early flight (avoid traffic) or a late arriving flight and don't want to drive the three hours home. If it's true the LB Grand Prix is in town then I would certainly stay by the airport and then UBER to the port in the AM.
  5. We ordered pre-cruise for in cabin and weren't given an option.
  6. Hopefully they got the tour operator dispute worked out for the KSC tour. We booked it for last Thanksgiving and during the cruise were told the tour would no longer be guided but a self guided. We still got the bus ride and admission but no guided tour and no rebate. It was still well worth the effort. My suggestion is as soon as you get there go book the extra cost shuttle out to the actual launch towers. We didn't and by the time we finished the building tours it was to late.
  7. The Wonder for Thanksgiving was RCL branded water in the can.
  8. We found that some bars made some mocktails and others made others. Some were everywhere and others were only from specific bartenders. You will just have to ask around and see whom makes what.
  9. Have one person buy all the device plans it's much cheaper. My fourth device on Navigator was $5 per day. I'm not sure if it was just us, but we had issues setting up the device accounts and had to go to the Voom desk (total zoo) to get it straightened out for DW. I think when I logged on, since I bought all the devices, I should have set them all up. There was an option for me to do that, but DW wanted to do her own and it was a mess. When our cruise was extended for one day due to a medical emergency my account automatically extended for the extra day and hers didn't.
  10. Agreed, never been a fan of Halibut. It has no flavor and is way to much $$$$. Fresh flour tortillas hot off the rusted steel car hood griddle, priceless!
  11. We were on Wonder for Thanksgiving week in an OS and our son and GF were in a JS. We had no issue getting them a seat with us. The first time I had a RSVP that I had made on embarkation day. The second time was mid-week and they decided to join us after we had already gone to SL to wait for our table. I asked Jean if he could make it a table for four and with a little longer wait they were able to join us. I think you probably stand a better chance the later in the evening you wait. We always went about 7:30-8:00 pm and there was plenty of space. My observations for Wonder at that time was there were several large tables with family members who I doubt were all in even a JS. That's because I would see them at the bar during the day and hear their cabin numbers. Granted they could have all been downgraded from suites when Wonder took over that sailing and didn't have enough full suites to accommodate everyone.
  12. We cross either at Otay or San Yisdro. We use our Global Entry and most days it's fairly quick. I don't think Tecate has GE and isn't open 24/7.
  13. Between Playmakers and Duck & Dog you shouldn't have an issue. Sorry, that was on Wonder not sure what they call the Irish pub on Oasis. It was a little disconcerting in July on Navigator when I had to tell the bartender how to make a Black & Tan.
  14. We took a taxi there and just hung out watching the airplanes and people. Unless you are into getting sandblasted I would just go to the bar and watch.
  15. Keep checking there's no rhyme or reason to when they will show up and then they might go away and then come back.
  16. Irma's at Deming, NM some good MX food and we came from the CA central valley with a lot of great MX food places. We are now living in Baja California, MX with plenty of fish taco places I can see from my balcony window. But when we drive to our house in San Antonio; Deming is our waypoint.
  17. Without a doubt the Mason Jar deep fried Oreos.
  18. On Wonder for Thanksgiving week it was cans of RCL brand. I didn't look to see who canned it.
  19. The real thing is really hard to define. Saying, “Mexican Food” is like saying “American Food”, a lot depends on the region of the country be it MX or US.
  20. Here that would be out of the trunk of a car. Just had tamales like that yesterday.
  21. Make them yourself, there's plenty of good recipes on the food channel www site. Even though we can buy them cheaper here than we can cook them. DW still makes good fish tacos.
  22. To book a cabin the age depends on some factors. They make concessions for married people and active duty military. It's on their www site buried in the fine print. I think "minor activities" is under 18 years. I know curfew applies to 17 and under.
  23. $5k would be a little high unless you pick the top shelf bar setup and the top tier food buffet. We did mid-range for both and it was around $2k, but that was in 2015 so prices have probably gone up. BTW: DBP won't work for the in cabin setup.
  24. Yes we did exactly what you are asking on Allure in our OS for 15 people. I emailed the concierge a few months in and advance and he put me in touch with the catering manager. They sent me a menu of services and costs. I recall minimum purchase was 20 people so we paid for more than our 15. We did the mid-range food buffet and bar setup. We had two bartenders for 3 or 4 hours. They left us with the leftover food and some cans/bottles from the bar setup. I recall we paid about $2000. Those cabin setups should be great for what you want to do. We only had our OS and it worked fine for 15.
