  1. Not sure, but I have an excellent private driver who would take you wherever you want to go.
  2. Any airport applicable will have pro's and con's. I would go with whatever seems to have the best cost and schedule for you. I'm not a fan of LAX just because of all the traffic and current (never ending) airport construction. BUR is small and easy to navigate, but fewer flight options same for LGB. SNA is my fav for southern CA flights if the schedule and costs work for you. There's a nice Hilton right across the street that you can walk to. SNA has flight restrictions for noise reduction so they have a smaller window of operation than the other airports.
  3. Depending on how far south you go you could cross Otay and take the Blvd 2000. We have done it a few times, but overall doesn't save us any time. We never cross on the weekends unless it's the opposite commute direction or we go early. As you probably know hitting the border S/B any day after 1500 hrs is a mess.
  4. They are working hard on it. I would guess another 4-5 months. It's not really slowed us down much going either way if you avoid the normal commute times.
  5. Coming north into the US you will get scanned plenty. There's license plate readers, facial recognition, and your name will be entered at the CBP booth either manually or RFID before you even reach the booth. Going into MX at San Ysidro CBP does have southbound booths and plate scanners, I assume facial recognition. I have never seen the booths staffed in the last five years, but have heard from others they do periodically. Coming north into the US at San Ysidro it can take hours in line if you don't have Global Entry.
  6. Looks like about 2 km or about 25 minutes.
  7. That rule also applies to flying back into the US. RX are suppose to be in their original container.
  8. I have found off airport rental locations cheaper also.
  9. True, I saw the posted restaurant exchange rate at Edith's (great food) at $16.45 MXN. The bank rate about that time was around $17.80. I have never seen the option to decline the "dynamic" exchange at any other location than an ATM when I take out pesos. I do always decline it. We have a couple of neighborhood places where we eat that give us the bank rate on our card.
  10. It's on the island between the two bridges linking SF with east bay. Not walkable due to lack of pedestrian walkways and distance. The #25 muni bus will take you there or Uber/taxi is quicker. However, might be more fun to ride the ferry. https://sf.gov/treasure-island-attractions
  11. Get there at 0600 hrs and plan to stand in line for about 4-5 hours. I would prefer to have a nice breakfast somewhere and take an easy ride to the port. Go at 0600 hrs and maybe you will be onboard 45-60 minutes sooner than if you got there at 1000-1100 hrs.
  12. I much prefer SNA over LAX if the price is right. SNA is much easier and more predictable to get to and I like the feel and openness of SNA over LAX. Security seems faster at SNA than LAX.
  13. So many places and so little time.
  14. Don't get hung up on staying by FW. The City is very compact and a short Uber ride to anywhere you might want to go. We like Hilton hotels either around Union Square or Financial District.
  15. We just returned from four days in Cabo. Everything on the written menu is in pesos, but everybody takes USD. In fact, right now with the exchange rate they want USD. Visa and Mastercard accepted, not so much for AMEX.
  16. We live in MX and the worse thing for locals is to over tip. We do no more than 20% and usually 10-15% at a sit down. If a street taco stand there's usually a tip jar and we drop a $1 or two.
  17. We live just north of the wine country. Here are a couple of drivers who get really good local reviews' both are on FB. We have only used Alberto and he took our son and grandson to San Diego airport from Rosarito. 18. Unlike Canada, Mexico and the US don't share criminal records. They will not know and won't be able to find out. If you have a US passport you will "don't ask, don't tell." If you don't have a passport it will be even less likely you will have an issue. If you're that concerned just don't get off the ship. Enjoy your cruise with your mom.
  19. We just got some retinol and Ambien. Just don't buy at the closest place. Walk a little way as the further you get away from the port the cheaper it will get. We noticed the price go up when the cruise ship is in port. Just shop around. We found retinol from $50 to $20 for the same size the further we walked away from the beach. Believe it or not antibiotics are controlled pretty seriously in MX you might not be able to get what you want.
  20. We just got back from five days at Pueblo Bonito Blanco and the spa next door at Pueblo Bonito Rose had great services for massages, facials, etc. A couple of people in our group had massages done on the beach in front of the Sand Bar. I'm not sure of the name of the place.
  21. Do the ship excursion it will be less stressful with fewer moving parts and probably cheaper.
  22. First time, I would stay in the City there's so much to see in a short time. Bay cruise is a must, Alcatraz, and many miss https://www.treasureislandmuseum.org/
