  1. Hi, this is Anne .

Just like to check how reliable are the external tour operators like SPB and Alla. Will they take us back to the ship on time based on your experience . Thanks.

Why are the external operators better ? The costs are about the same.

We are leaving tomorrow on this same cruise. After reading many reviews, we opted to use SPB as our tour operator in Berlin, St. Petersburg and Stockholm. They give larger discounts when you book more ports. They have been doing this for many years and they get people back to the ship in time. If these companies didn't do that, they wouldn't be in business long. I don't know where you are getting your price comparisons, but using SPB on these three tours saved us exactly one half of what Princess wanted.

  2. Can someone explain to me what "as refundable onboard credit" means? Are you not getting your money back except as onboard credit? If so what happens if you don't spend it all while on the next cruise?

I'm assuming since it says refundable OBC, whatever you don't spend is refunded at the end of the cruise.

  3. We are booked on a cruise leaving next Tuesday from Copenhagen. We just received this offer from Princess and I'm trying to figure it out.

    And receive:

    * 100% cruise fare refund (as refundable onboard credit)

    * Next Meta Upgrade (Inside to Balcony OR Balcony to Mini-suite)

    * Air change fees up to $300.00 per person

    * Princess air program will be protected

Does this mean our cruise would be free?

  4. We will be on the Regal Princess in July for the Scandinavia and Russia cruise.

The cruise is very port intensive, starting in Copenhagen, with stops in Oslo, Gothenburg, Warnemunde, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, and Stockholm.

I know that we will need to have our Passports when we enter St. Petersburg, but does anyone know if we need to carry our Passports whenever we leave the ship in the other ports?

Also, with all of the pickpocket warnings, do I need to buy a Money Belt for those times when my Passport is necessary?

Which Money Belt would you recommend?

    Thanks,

    Sadie

Are you on the July 7th sailing? If so, we are on the same cruise. My experience in Europe is that there are not many ports that require one to carry passports. In fact the only country I remember having to do so was the Czech Republic. I'm assuming we will only need to do so in Russia.

After many trips to Europe, I'm finally breaking down and using a money belt. We've been in many high pick pocket cities like Barcelona and Rome and have never had a problem, but decided why push our luck.

  5. We took our first river cruise two years ago. We used Vantage. Most of the comments you have heard here are very true. Only 170 passengers. River cruise ships are all similar in size. They can only be as long as the shortest locks and only as tall as the lowest bridges.

On the river cruise, you will pay more, but everything is included. Every port includes an excursion. Wine, beer and soda come with dinner. Wifi is included and works better. What you won't find is much in the way of entertainment. There are no casinos and usually no pools. A river cruise is much more about the ports and not the ship. However, we found the cabins to be very nice. Princess could learn a lot about designing their cabins from the river cruise companies. We had a very roomy shower.

We sailed from Budapest to Amsterdam. Great trip. We would not hesitate to do another river cruise with the right itinerary.

  6. Many years ago when I first started traveling overseas, I was given some great advice. I was told that when I get to a different country to look around and remember that I'm not in the U.S.A. Things will be different. So what? Just accept the differences and move on. The trip will be much more enjoyable. Getting upset about paying €5.00 to leave the port of Livorno will not change anything and will not help you enjoy your cruise. If this type of thing bothers you, then maybe going to foreign countries is not for you.

  7. It's only €5.00. How much do we pay for the cruise? The excursions? The airfare? The drinks? The specialty restaurants? The tips? Etc. etc. etc.

Five euro is nothing compared to the total cost of the vacation. If I was that concerned about €5.00 I wouldn't even take the trip to begin with. Sometimes I think we just look for something to complain about.

  8. God forbid they just come out and say I'm sorry but we don't have any extra balcony chairs. No instead they treat you like you're stupid. Smoking in the casino isn't a safety hazard but an extra chair breaks some kind of safety code. I bet if they charged to rent them they would let you stack them one on top of the other.

    Good one! :D

  9. Hi All

So looking forward to booking a cruise to the Med or may be Norway,

should get close to 75% of brochure price, so please keep cancelling those booked cruises, and no booking before 10 weeks from sailing.:D

    yours Shogun

Absolutely! With high fares that aren't coming down as they did in the past, the best time to book now is after final payment date. A lot of folks cancel due to high fares and Princess is forced to reduce fares. Also, they don't have to give the reduced fare to those who have already paid.

  10. When someone is adopted they are given a new birth certificate. She should be able to get a copy by searching the public records of the county where the adoption took place using her parents names. She must have something she used to get into school, get a driver's license, etc.

  11. We were on the Crown in E731 this February. The balcony had a lot of rusty areas that were in need of painting. Hope they get to that. Otherwise she looking in pretty good shape.

We've been on the Crown twice. Both times in E731. Great cabin and great ship.

  12. We just recently went through this exact scenario. We were offered an upgrade to a mini suite as consolation. Did they offer you an upgrade of any sort? We ended up canceling and rebooking. We didn't lose any credits, but saved quite a bit of money, we stayed in our same room etc. now we are just waiting for the insurance credit to show up. This might be your best bet.

No, I even asked for an upgrade. The agent said they didn't have any complimentary upgrades even though the website's show a bunch of cabins. I think all of this is dependent on who you talk to at Princess.
