Very nice review. Wish I had met you...I was on the same cruise. 🙂

You won't be forced to rebook.
But, since you are past final payment, there will be 100% penalty for cancellation of the two people (unless #3 and #4 are sailing free). You can juggle who is #2 and #3 should you need to cancel. And cancel them out when they drop out. They can process the insurance claim (which needs a covered reason for cancellation or else it will be denied - followed by NCL credit for a future cruise of 75%).
Thanks you, BirdTravels for your words and knowledge. As soon as I find out what all is going on (yes, it's a medical) I will put DD as #2. Thanks again for all your help.

One of the first 2 people have to remain on the reservation.
If your S and BIL are listed as the first 2 passengers, I would have them call and have you and your dd changed to the first 2 and they can be 3rd and 4th.
Don't wait to see if they cancel, change it now so if they do cancel you will already be listed as 1and 2.
I'm the primary on the reservation....sister is #2 with DD #3

Just going to run this by you all and get your opinion. There is a slight possibility that my sister and her husband may not be able to go on our cruise. We have a 2 bedroom haven booked for October 20th on the Gem. My daughter and I will be in the cabin also. If my sister and her husband cancel will my daughter and I still be able to have that cabin? or will the whole reservation be cancelled forceing my daughter and I to rebook? We all bought the insurance through NCL.

Here is something that I found very helpful.
If you want a copy that you can edit send me an email.

There is the latitudes party and then there is the Captain's Cocktail party for suite guests. Which one are you referring to? On all the ships we have been on the latitude party has been in the middle of the day and the Captain's Cocktail party for suite guests was around 6 p.m.
I'm referring to the Captain's Cocktail party (which is what I wrote) for Haven and suite guests that is held in the Haven Courtyard. Maybe I should have really spelled it out and put for Haven/suites.
-
It could vary by ship but you should have no problems getting to Cagney's at 5:30 or 6 pm after the
Cocktail party at 5 pm - get there early and leave early if necessary.
Check the invitation that will be in your cabin when you come aboard.
Questions call Guest Services.
Small time conflict contact Cagney's to continue to reserve your table.
Having a beverage of course at the "Cocktail Party" order two and take
one with you.
Enjoy !
Thanks! We have a 6pm reservation so we should be good to go. :)

I can't remember what day/tim the Captain's Coctail Party is.....first sea day? And what time?
We have Cagney's reservations I may need to reschedule.
Thanks.

We were recently in an aft balcony with a suite next to us. Our neighbors thought that in the walkway to our door was the proper place to put their chicken wing bones on the floor so that they could be picked up. We pushed them back into their space twice before they were finally picked up later in the day by the crew. You would have thought that somewhere in the suite with all the counter space, tables and desk they could have placed this for their butler to take them away properly. They didn't place anything outside after the first full day on the cruise, I'm assuming the butler told them not to place things out in the hallway like that. We kept our glasses on our little counter in our room until the room steward came to do our room.
Thought that was really rude and not necessary especially being in such a big space like a suite.
That is very rude and no reason for a suite pasenger to leave dirty dishess and such outside the cabin. Our butler always tells us to just give him a call and he will come by and pick up.

Anyone have any updates for the Gem? We will be on the October 20th Canada/NewEngland sailing out of NY.
-
What about the space under the sofa bed (second bedroom) in the two bedroom suite? My daughter and I will be sharing that small room on our upcoming cruise. Space is tight in the cabin. Can we fit our suitcases under the main bed when pulled out?
-
I cancelled a couple hours before a Cagney's reservation...no problem.

I'm also a Haven Courtyard cruiser. :)

LOL This is SO me....the planner for the group. :)

Using the Free at Sea Specialty Dinning option, what specialty restaurants can be used and which ones are not under that "freebie"? Reading the "small print" terms and conditions, I can't determine which ones fall into the allowed category.
Teppanyaki, Cagney's, La Cucina, LeBistro and Moderno are included in the Specility Dinning Package.
So if you have the three night SDP you can pick three of those restaurants (or one for three different nights).

Tim Kaminski is on vacation right now....not sure when he returns.

We had five adults in a two bedroom suite this past September on the Jewel. Bottom line....it's tight no matter how you do it. Sofa bed in the living room sleeps one and trust me it's not that comfortable. The second bedroom is fine for two adults but the closet is very small.
Would your Dad be willing to pay for the one bedroom in the Haven? I know the Jewel class ships have the one bedroom haven....not sure about the Getaway.

Following...I'm really enjoying your review with all the pics.

Usually 50 days before departure.
Thanks so much!

Hi, I'm having a bit of a senior moment and can't remember when we receive the preconcierge email asking about special wants for the cabin....extra pillows, extra hangers etc.
Also, when do we receive our luggage tags that are mailed?
Thanks for any help.

Someone mentioned the Gem had new menus in the mdr....would you be able to post a current menu?

Check in was a breeze. The bellman from the hotel walked us over and someone grabbed our bags from him on the sidewalk. He asked if we had our passports elsewhere on us before taking our bags! We did of course but A smart move to avoid problems. Check in was fast. Coffee teas coffee cake and fruit and cookies in Haven boarding area. Big comfy chairs in the Haven waiting area.
One thing of note. DH and I noted how markedly friendly the security people were. It was like they made being super friendly a jobrequirement!
That's because they aren't TSA. They will tell you it's because we are port authority. :)

That's a great description of sailing from the Manhattan Cruiseport! Unfortunately the OP is sailing into the Brooklyn Cruiseport and will only get to experience sailing under the Verrazano Bridge and viewing the Teardrop Memorial and the Statue of Liberty from a distance.
Like I said this is not mine. I copied it from the OP here on CC.
I'll be cruising on the Gem this October out of Manhattan and hoping to see most of these.

It is possible...I didn't stay that long at the M/G and didn't take part in the slot pull either.
We also did the 10am Oli's Trolley tour. We really enjoyed the town. Had lunch (lobster roll) at the Sea food restaurant on the corner by where the tour ended. Stopped to get some Blueberry preserves on the way back for the tender. Living in Phoenix we definitely felt the cold and the wind! lol But wouldn't have missed stopping in Bar Harbour....really nice town.
