  1. I have thought of a few more Haven questions.

    1. Does NCL give the Haven/Suite guests any type of a beach bag or canvas bag?

    2. Does NCL give the Haven/Suite guests a cruise card holder/wallet?

I was in the two bedroom Haven suite on the Pearl last year....No on both questions.

We will be in a two-bedroom Haven suite on the Jewel September 2nd sailing. Which Sailing are you on this September?

  2. On the NCL Jewel last year (2016) out of Bayport (Houston), a couple in an inside organized our Meet & Greet. We were in a suite and kept running into them at breakfast and lunch in Moderno, and at the special events for suite guests. They said they got invited because they were Platinum Members. NCL doesn't do that for Platinum Members, which we found out later. It was the same for the M&G Organizers on the Jewel from San Pedro through the Panama Canal to Houston, the year before (2015) that. Same thing on the Dawn this past February (2017) out on New Orleans.A single lady cruiser organized this M&G, and just couldn't figure why she was getting such special treatment. Didn't believe he r for a moment! So, I know the Jewel and the Dawn reward the ones who sets up the M&G.

The Pearl also gives rewards for setting up a M/G.

  3. Thanks for posting the pics and the video of the Pearl Haven...we were in the pearl haven last September on a Pacific Coastal. This year it's the Jewel Haven to Alaska.

I wouldn't just limit it to the newer ships like the Escape, the Getaway, and the Breakaway, either... The Haven on the Jewel-class ships (the Gem, the Jewel, and the Pearl) is pretty great, too. Some people might even like The Haven on the Jewel-class better than on the newer ships, since there are less passengers sharing it. The Haven Courtyard and sun deck areas on the Jewel class are even less crowded than on the bigger ships, because there are simply far fewer Haven cabins that share them.

We had a really great cruise in The Haven on the Norwegian Pearl earlier this year. Here are a few photos of The Haven on the Pearl...

But if you really want to get a sense of what the Haven Courtyard (and sun deck) are like on the Norwegian Pearl, still pictures just don't do it justice. You need to see it on video. Take a look at this short (minute and a half) video that I shot of the courtyard and sun deck on the Norwegian Pearl:

(Suggestion: watch it full screen, in HD)

The Jewel-class ships also have a very nice spa and thermal suite, including a large coed area, but also individual male/female areas... including the largest sauna I've ever seen on a cruise ship, and with the best view, too! So, my advice (after having sailed in The Haven on the Getaway, the Escape, and the Pearl) is to not rule out the Jewel-class ships just because they're a little older and smaller than the current state-of-the-art. At least in The Haven, cruising is very sweet on the Jewel-class!

  4. Well we are doing 5 adults in a two-bedroom in two weeks on the Jewel. I've been told the sofa in the living room will only fit one adult.

Two young adults will be sleeping in the "kids" bedroom on the pull out sofa bed. In that same bedroom there is a pull down bed...so that would be the sixth person. Have fun!

  5. We've been on the Escape in the Haven. We will be in the Jewel Haven in 3 weeks (I'll try to come back later and compare them). LOVED the Haven restaurant, and the outside seating area for breakfast.. The courtyard was very nice, and the sundeck with Hot Tub was very nice. There was never anyone on the 2nd level enclosed deck area, so we could always find a quite area (we sailed in mid Sept., so fewer kids) It looks like they possibly have more haven suites than on the escape, so I'm concerned there may be more people.. But overall I think you will enjoy the Bliss Haven more than on the Pearl/Jewel. I am interested in seeing what the observation lounge will be like.

You are on the September 2nd. Jewel cruise to Alaska? Uhhhh never mind....I see that you are on the Sept. 9th cruise.

  6. Last year when they had the double cruise next certificates for all cruises I redeemed 20, for a $125 "gift" from NCL for each one.

I've been using them since they started, probably 15 years ago, so, still a great value for me, especially with me, snagging the last minute give away deals, with the redemption of 5 "single" deals this year, for $625 in my pocket. :)

Wow....now that's a great deal! I'm convinced...will be buying them on my cruise this September. :)

  7. One thing I learned on my prior cruise is if you going to book a Haven cabin then you can use the 500 certificate as your whole deposit. Not bad consider a haven deposit is much more then that.

Thanks, that is good to know....especially since I love the Haven! :)

  8. If you will probably be cruising NCL in the next four years it makes good sense to buy a certificate. The $100 obc instantly takes $100 off the $250 price so you'll be getting a $250 deposit credit for only $150. What's to question about a $100 savings?

If you'll be taking more than one cruise in the next four years, then buy more than one. They're transferable through gifting or selling if you can't use after all.

Thanks....did not realize that they are transferable. :)

  9. When you check in, you will be asked for your passport and the first page of your edocs (Guest Ticket Contract to be Presented For Passage).

Will you need to print one Guest Ticket Contract per reservation/cabin or one for each person on the reservation?

  10. I am leaving on the 9th of September for an Alaskan cruise on The Jewel. The weather for the whole trip should be very comfortable. Toward the end of September, the Alaskan weather could get pretty rough.

Very much looking forward to it.

I will be getting off the Jewel the same day you are getting on the Jewel. I always book Alaskan cruises for September...love the weather.

  11. $50 shore excursion credit is per cabin not per person. If you do not take an excursion in one port, it is gone and cannot be applied to other ports. Make sure you compare NCL's pricing with what you can get locally. Also, you may be entitled to a Latitude discount as well. You will have to confirm this once on board to make sure you get the correct pricing on any excursion that you book.

Thank you for posting about the Lattitude discount as well....I was wondering if I'd be able to get this also.
