  1. While I can't vouch for the Allure... On the Navigator it was listed as "The Planning Event"

I cant thank you enough! We are on Oasis this June and my DD and I both are hopeful it is mentioned somewhere!

So, question- how did you find out that "The Planning Event" was the Flash Mob?

Thanks again for this "insider info"! Apparently, very few know about this.

I had gotten a copy of the Compass for the Eastern/Allure and saw MOB Dance Class listed a couple of times during the week at the Aqua Theater. Then the main event I believe took place on the Promenade on the last day....

Okay!! We'll be looking for this too!

    Thanks!

(PS: I didnt see it listed in the southern compass)

  2. Getting more and more exctied for Oasis with every post. Have you noticed anything in the compass about FLASH MOBS? Passenger class/rehearsal? Have there been any you stumbled upon that were only crew....??

I also look forward to your view on Falmouth. I didnt think any shops were opened yet and there were only kiosks? I also look forward to prices on a JUTA cab...if you happen to notice, we're going to Iberostar Rose Hall..it should be a 15-20 minute cab ride. [there should be a marquis with prices right outside the gate]

Enjoy the rest of your night!

    :);)

  3. Good morning Radio!!!

By now I suspect you've seen the Allure come into port. How exciting.

I'll be taking my very first cruise on her in March and am uber excited.

I have heard that RCI sells a scrapbook with a picture of Allure on the cover. Would love to see a picture of that scrapbook. I would think it's either in the RCI gift shop or in the workshop (in the kids zone).

Have an awesome cruise. I'll be cruising along with you and enjoying your reports.

The scrapbook is sold at the same location the pictures are, not the gift shop, not the kids zone...you can probably google it and find it pretty easy online. (might be sold in the gift shop too.)

Good Morning, Mark! So happy to see your thread was moved back. Sunshine.gif

  4. Ha ha, Stacey. . . Mrs.Radio was not able to come with me on Allure, but is planning to come with me on Explorer in November ;)

My brother and his wife are sailing this week, and I was able to reserve a Cabana in Labadee ! Woo Hoo :)

    Radio

    ;);)

    .

Well, there ya go! Have your brother take the picture! :) Im also excited now to hear of your upcoming cabana and cant wait to see your pictures of it! We totally missed that entire area when we were there this past December. Exciting!

Thanks again for taking us all on your cruise!

  5. No problem, I'll be anxious to hear about the western itinerary. I haven't been to Labadee since the pier, and will be interested in an update Falmouth. Thanks in advance, I'll be following.

The pier in labadee is wonderful. We hadnt been for a few years and we were there this past December. Truly needed and makes it much easier to not have to tender.

Labadee has changed a lot, you will like it.

  6. The one in that pic looks quite manageable and I could see why some might want to bring their own if they are similar to the one shown.

On a slightly different note... CDNJ...12 bags?!? I'm totally not questioning the need or anything but wow, that's a lot of luggage to bring along  I can appreciate the appeal of being able to drive to your port of departure... :)

That is for the four of us including carry ons and only when we leave locally. Its an easy break down :). We each have one super large suitcase (4), the four of us go into 2 garment bags, 1 duffle for shoes and 1 duffle for toiletries, snorkel gear, ice skates and additional shoes and whatever else. [And, 4 carry ons. = 12] We always have 2 cabins, so storing them isnt an issue- they go right under the bed. I know 12 sounds ridiculous, lol but broken down, not so much.

  7. I dont really know the one the OP has, but they take up very little space and are lightweight...

[disclaimer:This is just off the net and not me]

Plus, I can understand her point if she drives to the port. That is why we try to leave from the northeast on most of our cruises. DH says you cant beat the luxury from door to door. We have a driver pick us up, he handles all our baggage, then the porters take them from the limo, they're delivered to our cabin and reverse on disembarking. DH feels it is a luxury for him to not have to pick up and handle our 12 pieces of luggage [for a 2 week cruise, we dont take 12 pcs on a short 7 nighter, lol But, DH loves that he doesnt have to schlep anything]! lol

Again, we have never toted one with us.

Uh oh, I am intrigued now, lmao @ me!

  8. Yes. You can tag it with a luggae tag and give it to the porters, or you can carry it on. We purchased one about 5 or 6 yrs ago, it was on sale and we thought it would be a great idea too. But, we have never brought it with us!! Too much luggae to be bothered, even though we left from Bayonne and had a limo driver! Still have never used it!

  9. Has anyone done this on their own from Falmouth??

Same question......to add, how much was a taxi per person? And, how long was the ride from Falmouth? and, how do you deal with the return to the ship; does the driver wait for you, come back....or?

(& did I ask, food? drinks?)

  10. To some it is a "value", maye not to all. There will always be those folks who pay what they're asked, dont watch the site for price reductions, ahve busy lives and can only cruise with their families during PEAK season. So, for those who cruise off season, well of course it will be less then winter break, spring break or summer.

We also much prefer the longer cruises, 9-14 nights, but realistically not everyone has the advantage of taking off that much time from work, or from school. We consider ourselves very lucky and our kids appreciate their cruises, they have been on 8 since we have started cruising again (since DH and our first in 1987 on Amerikanis!)

Oasis/Allure are the destination in themselves. After spending a couple hours last night looking at 1/2011 compass' from the Oasis western caribbean and trying to select the times we want to see shows, I have really, really, REALLY decided, this will most likely be the one and only time we go on Oasis. It is DS's choice, since it is his HS graduation. It is only a 7 night sail, I must book my shows prior (not my style! specialty dinner- definitely, booking shows- rather not be forced to do this prior to my cruise). We quickly switched to MTD because there was no way I would personally want to have to see a show at 5:30 on a formal night, becaue I had late seating. (hope that made sense)

So, is it affordable? Depends on the length and your pocket. I also think it is a lot more affordable then an AI during prime time.

  11. i don`t think you will be happy with msc please check reviews

My suggestion was due to the OP's questioning price. I dont have intentions of going on that cl..but for someone looking to cruise and spend the least possible, it could be an optin for "them". I beleive you get what you pay for, but there are some folks that cant afford it.

  12. I have many cruises over the line (10 or so) but just cannot justify the prices they want right now. If I take the kids for a week, we are looking at $4000 plus airfare plus onboard charges. I just cannot afford a $6000 vacation.

What gives, how can people afford this?

Are people really paying this price or is there a special place to get better rates?

I make a decent living but cannot justify this amount for a week.

I probably shouldnt say this, check MSC cruiseline..i've been told by a girlfriend, kids are free under a certain age, I think it is 11 yrs old possibly..

Honestly, we have never viewed cruising as a cheap vacation. The cheapest we ever paid for the 4 of us for a week was around $7k and change (cruise, air and transfers, not set sail on board account). Having kids and wanting to vacation with them and create memories, well, we believe will cost. As others recommended, if you feel you can take them out of school, that is an option - watch the web site daily, make sure you put in the state you live in when asked. Also, you didnt mention your childrens ages. $4k doesnt seem like a lot for a week vacation for 4 in a quad. If you look at AI's, it is a lot more.

DH and I cant wait (its not too long now!) until we can cruise sometimes without the kids, but there will still HOPEFULLY be the once a year vacation with them.

You mentioned you cruised for free..I am envious at all the thousands you saved. We spend, but it is a lot of money to consider, agreed!

To answer your question if people are really paying these prices, yes.

  14. I haven't had any trouble with itching. Are you perhaps allergic to something in the meals?

I post all my tips in my weight loss blog, http://stomach-rumblings.blogspot.com I really love Nutrisystem- I have lost 79lbs so far and I don't feel deprived in the slightest. The program works and I feel great.

I am going to go back and look at your blog. I need the inspiration and maybe we can share tips (or I can pick some up from you!!) I havent been able to go back on NS and be true and dedicated :( ....I find it tough being such a great cook for my family. Tasting is a b*tch!

Glad to see this thread pop back on my CP! Thanks.

  15. We were at Doctors Cave Beach last week. Admission was $5 pp, chair $5 pp and umbrella $5. We didn't need an umbrella as there was a large shaded area. Bucket of Red Stripes, five or six, for $15.

    Thank you for this information!

If you were docked in Falmouth, can you tell me how you got to Doctors Cave beach? If you grabbed a taxi, how easy was it and what did it cost either per person or per cab? Thanks so much! cruisedivanj
