  1. Do your own Ports of Call research. The Carnival Adventures Desk no longer provides any kind of printed Ports information. Guest Services doesn't have any Ports information either. They can't even tell you which pier you will be docking at. Seriously.
  2. The current cruise director doesn't do a daily morning show.
  3. No line at all at 7:15. It was amazing just to walk off without needing any Customs inspections.
  4. Less than 10% of passengers wear masks on the Pride. I was on the ship from May 19 to June 19. Luckily I didn't catch Covid. I did wear a mask everywhere there were crowds of people; buffet, theater, Casino.
  5. In April on an Elite cruise on the MardiGras at the Cozumel port stop I went into the nearby megamart and bought a hard plastic storage box that was perfectly sized for 1 or 2 bottles to fit inside. It worked perfectly to protect the bottle from being crushed.
  6. Jeans would be preferable to shorts especially gym shorts. If you're weren't going to have him bring long jeans tbh I think that's not asking too much of a teenager to wear a pair of jeans and something other than a T-shirt to dinner.
  7. Same in May on b2b's so agree completely with what you're saying. Anyone wanting to stay as late as 9:30 would be hard pressed and TBH you'd be hampering operations.
  8. Casino Royale absolutely has tiers. It's Carnival's casino program that doesn't have tiers. If your husband doesn't know his tier all he has to do is go to https://www.clubroyaleoffers.com/ Put in his crown and anchor number in and he'll get his tier level and all his offers
  9. You don't need 2 hours in the Rijksmuseum especially if you have limited time, unless you want to ponder every single painting. Allocate 1 hour and instead take a canal boat ride.
  10. I hated the Splendor mainly because of those Pepto bismol dots everywhere. I'm on the Pride now and it's a dreary, dark ship. I literally just checked out a RECENT video of the Luminosa and it's head and shoulders nicer than the Pride or the Splendor https://youtu.be/aOXhcT2855Q
  11. The internet is fine. He is on the ship. Anything else I can't speak for him.
  12. It is absolutely incorrect that the AC stays on when the folding room partitions are closed. Those partitions have absolutely no affect on the HVAC. The opening or closing of the window is what triggers the HVAC.
  13. I think it depends on the itinerary. On our cruise ship time was London time zone for the LeHavre port stop, so ship time was one hour behind LeHavre. That was due to not having a seaday before disembarkation day, so the last two port stops ship time and local time didn't match.
  14. You can leave the ship later on turnaround day but it would have to be after embarkation has started for the new cruise, which has been around 10:30am. Otherwise you would have to leave right after they process you as a B2B passenger. Yes, there are tours you can take that combine sightseeing and airport transfer. Here are some examples:
  15. There's no listing in the Carnival app as to what's being served at Street Eats. And yes, there's a particular cycle of food offerings but since there's no printed menu someone would have to do a manual documenting of the food offerings.
  16. How is this Carnival related? If the time of the shuttle you want isn't available, then you have to take the next available shuttle. That's why you're better off just taking your own Taxi. You don't have to wait for the shuttle to fill up with passengers and you're guaranteed the pickup time you want . The cost is negligible and your time and ease of your own Taxi is worth the fare.
  17. Love the Summit! We were on her last Thanksgiving. I've said it before and it's worth repeating the 88-90,000 ton class of ships from any cruiseline is probably still the best sized cruiseship, not too small, not too large. Since you're very familiar with both ships do you realize they're both about the same age? The Summit looks really great for her age due to the constant updates. The cabin bathrooms on the Summit, which have all been totally remodeled, put the Pride's bathrooms to Shame. While the Pride has had some updates she needs a bit more now.
  18. Your welcome. I think I'll do a separate recap post, but as a quick summary so far after being on the Pride for over 20 days I'm softening my opinions just a little bit. Overall the ship is just fine. Dated , yes, but it's extremely clean throughout. The MDR looks fine and of course the area where the Alchemy Bar is newly updated and this is where you can see what Carnival probably would do when they update the Spirit class of ships. On the Pride the Alchemy Bar area keeps the overall design theme of the ship but takes away all the unnecessary doodads so it's a cleaner, more updated design. The buffet can use a redesign and there are plenty of over the top design elements that over the course of 20 years now look cheap and tacky. The cabins are fine but I'll stick with my initial comments about some of the bathroom fixtures and the cleanliness of the balconies. My balcony door and glass railing is clean but the balcony floor still hadn't been hosed down. The staff overall are very friendly and hardworking. Occasionally there are service hiccups but I attribute that to staff shortages. My biggest disappointment with the Pride is the uneven food quality in the MDR and buffet. Sometimes things are good and even very good, but many times the food is mediocre or even poor. What's consistently excellent are Guys Burgers and the dessert offerings throughout the ship. In past years I've seen on various ships those beautiful cakes at the Lido buffet taste nothing like they look. Not so on the Pride. From the buffet cakes to the tiramisu in the MDR the desserts have been EXCELLENT. The other areas that needs a little more work are the ports of call experience. Hopefully Carnival learned from these first of season Europe sailings.
  19. The best thing to do in that case is to arrange a car service and have them for several hours for sightseeing in and around the London area. Won't be particularly cheap but it would be the best use of all the excess time that you have and it does solve all the issues albeit at a price.
  20. You have to vacate the room at 6:15am but not necessarily the ship. Buffet and sit down breakfast along with other waiting areas are available until 8am, when everyone not doing a b2b must disembark the ship.
  21. I took a private shuttle bus called Cruise Express, to Bruges and back for 20 Euros/rt. You had to pick up the shuttle beyond the main cruise terminal, so we did need to use the free pier shuttle bus to get from the ship to the main cruise terminal. The ship has it's own Bruges on your own for $59pp. The cruise director did also mention there was a separate Bruges shuttle bus for 20 Euros/rt but in order not to compete with Carnival's own excursion he was very vague about where to find this independent Bruges shuttle bus. I assume the CD's other shuttle was the same one that we took since there were two shuttle services from Bruges to the cruise port, the ship sponsored shuttle and the Cruise Express shuttle. The ship sponsored shuttle picks you up right at the ship, so no port shuttle is necessary. But at 3x the price.
  22. Various ports have restrictions on whether you can or can't walk from the ship to the main Port terminal. Today's stop was in Zeebrugge. The Port doesn't allow anyone to walk themselves from the ship to the main terminal, it has to be by shuttle bus. There was only 1 bus, which was free to ride, hired by Carnival to get passengers from the ship to the main terminal.
  23. The floors are filthy dirty because they are not regularly hosing down the balcony floors like the do on every other cruiseship. Think about your own patio at home. Don't you hose down and use a boom to clean you patio floors? They don't do that on the Pride, so the floors are filthy.
  24. Most ships hose down the balconies with a water hose that they snake through all the balconies by opening up the balcony doors. This has never been done so far on the Pride and I'm on the Pride 20 days now. There's been pieces of dirt on my balcony floor that's been in the same place since I've been on the ship, which is why I know the balconies haven't been hosed down. Its a practice done on every ship. What I think they do instead is have the cabin attendants occasionally wipe down the balcony glass railings and balcony doors. But without hosing down the floors it's a mess. If you think about your own home patios and balconies it's the floors that you clean first and give the most attention. If the Pride isn't doing that that's how you end up with grungy, gross balcony floors.
